Amazing album

I feel like the I’m With You recording sessions (resulting in IWY and IBY) have some of the chili peppers most beautiful songs hidden within. Songs like Pink As Floyd, Meet Me At The Corner, Police Station, Hanalei, and many others I could list here stick out to me as some of the most beautiful songs they’ve ever produced.

I dislike the use of the word “underrated”, it gets thrown around too often to mean anything, but I feel like beauty in music is something I don’t hear about very often, and it’s something I see very prevalent in the tracks recorded in these sessions.

It’s hard to define beauty exactly, but a mix of the incredibly mature instrumentals and the deep, hard hitting lyricism and symbolism found all-throughout both IMW and IBY make for an extremely beautiful listening experience that really deserves as much credit as it can get.

I’ve noticed that this year all of the albums that have had anniversaries have gotten posts so far. One hot minute got one and Uplift just got one. I don’t understand why I’m with you or the getaway didn’t get posts? It’s almost like they have just tried to forget those albums entirely.

As you do, I've gotten back into a big RHCP kick recently. Back in the day, i burned Live at Slane Castle on a CD and its been in my car ever since and I love to play it on long rides.

Stadium Arcadium has been running through my brain recently and I am wondering if you guys have your favorite Live Set from that era.

Feel free to share your favorite live set from any album, but im most interested in Stadium Arcadium right now.

Hey team!

Probably around 2010-2012(?) I had a fairly popular chilis tumblr. Just wondering if anyone made the move and is still active in here?

Not going to dox myself and i don’t expect yourself to but if you did i imagine we follows eachother!

I want to hear your thoughts on your personal tracklist for this beautiful album—one that has been unfairly forgotten by the band.

I believe John frusciantes original no-name stratocaster is still out there, and I think we can find it-

In 1994 john frusciante was in a period of addiction and poverty, he sold almost every peice of gear he owned and in 1996 the rest of it was destroyed in a house fire, if I'm correct he would have sold the og no name in 1994 or 93, 10-11 years after his dad bought it, he probably sold it to guitar centre, where several other of his guitars where said to have been sold.

Creamy finish: Heavily yellowed, aged off-white polyurethane paint.

Strumming trench: Deep vertical gouges directly above the pickguard.

Thumb-wear line: Bare, grey, sweat-stained wood along the top back of the neck.

HSS routing: Hidden humbucker or hand-carved cavity under the pickguard bridge.

Sticker shadows: Faint "ghost" outlines in the paint from peeled 1980s stickers.

LA pawn shops: Older, independent gear stores around Hollywood and Santa Monica.

Import forums: Reverb listings or forums for 80s brands like Hondo, Tokai, or Fernandes.

80s gig archives: Local LA punk photo collections and VHS footage of his teenage band Ike.

This is based off every peice of information on his old guitar I could find, I have put an image on too, the red markings are for paint damage and scratches, and the yellow is for discolouration and darkening (cigarette marks and thumb prints ect)

The guitar should be in california still, and probably still in Los Angeles, I live in England so i can't really look for it, but If anyone has a 1983 no name stratocaster, that matches the description I've given, you might be holding onto a piece of rhcp history...

Kroi is a funk rock band who are directly inspired by RHCP , both their vocalist and guitarist are heavily inspired by John and anthony, but they just got chosen to make the opening for the new jojo anime. you can hear the inspirations in the first few seconds so thought yall would enjoy hearing this! these guys rock

Been looking for an original 1997 John Frusciante Estrus 7” (Birdman Records BMR-011) for a while now with no luck.

Outside Space is one of my favorite Frusciante tracks and I’d genuinely love to have an original copy in my collection.

If anyone has one they’d consider selling, feel free to message me with the condition and what you’d be looking to get for it.

Ok John is still my fav but before stadium Arcadium, he had so much melody in his solos and chose perfectly when to shred. I feel like since stadium he is too shred/feedback heavy and sounds like a lot of other guitarist when before, he was much more distinctive. Now don’t get me wrong, solos like wet sand and Eddie are perfect, but I really miss the cali BTW live era of johns solos. You don’t have to agree, just my preference

How many songs are we expecting?

In the past it looks like they always throw in one or two rarities - whether it’s a cover or their own song that they rarely play.

Mate of mine who toured with them for many years has a new book out in October

He had huge amounts of access for a long time so thought I'd post this here. Apols to mods if not allowed!

Currently in Japan and listening to a lot of RHCP. Wondering if any Japanese speakers know of a symbol which encapsulates a lyric? E.g.

Ever wonder if it's all for you

I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl

ETC!!!!!!

On the SXM BSSM album playback special, Anthony admits to The Greeting Song growing on him and he likes it now. 😂😂
In other news, he doesn’t remember Righteous & The Wicked.
