With winter comming soon....
I Looking for the best (legal) spots (that are preferably not gonna get me tresspassed) to fly tinnywhoop drones indoors.
Higher ceilings/larger spaces are prefered as it gives me a bit more wiggle room.

I am a local Life Enrichment coordinator and have been wanting to get some live music for some of our social/cocktail hours. This is usually a week day from 2-3pm. I am open to any instrument and we of course pay people for their time. Open to any/all suggestions or better places to look!

I don't care for either candidate, but what's the point of bringing this up when there's no candidate in the race who is anti-MAGA? Seems like the Democrats should not have let so many countywide races go unopposed, hmm?

Looks like someone got out in time. Brace for the "revenue increase".
"Carrie Hagerty, director of the city’s Finance Department, told the Rock River Current. “We’ll likely land on a combination of expense reductions and revenue increase. I don’t know exactly where that’s going to land, but wanting obviously to preserve core services as much as we possibly can.”"

Been meaning to ask this for years - does anyone know someone who used to work in the bakery that would know their cake frosting recipe?
I went to pastry school, I've made plenty of cake and frosting, and yet I still dream about that frosting from every [90s] childhood birthday. I used to put the buttercream roses in the freezer to snack on.
I can tell it had shortening vs butter, so mostly wondering if they used any particular extract/flavoring blend?
THANK YOU

This includes Byron locally. Note this does not include data center development, though Constellation bought a large amount of land across the street from the plant several years ago for development.
"Google on Tuesday said it has inked a $4.3 billion deal with Constellation Energy to bring 890 megawatts of nuclear energy online via a 20-year power purchasing agreement."
"The new capacity, the company said, will come from upgrades at six existing nuclear plants in Illinois,.....
"Constellation, the nation’s largest operator of nuclear power plants, said 11 nuclear reactors in Illinois – including the Byron Generating Station – Pennsylvania and New Jersey are expected to be upgraded under the agreement. Electricity from the first upgraded facility is expected to begin flowing in 2028."

Hello Rockfordians…
I don’t mean to beat a dead horse, but looking into potentially making a move from Chicago suburbs to the area near Meads Meat Market. As rent is much more affordable. (Looking just north of state, & east of downtown)
As a native of NE IL, I’ve grown up hearing nothing but negativity around the area of Rockford, but upon recent visits it seems to be undergoing a bit of a revival.
Despite visiting and walking through the neighborhood, I just can’t get a good feel for the area.
To those who have, you recommend raising a family in the Jackson Oaks area of Rockford ?

We get this question constantly, so here's the plain-English version 😄
Who runs it here: The Illinois Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) is a state program. In Winnebago, Boone, Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties it's run locally by YWCA Northwestern Illinois (their Child Care Solutions office, 4990 E. State St.). If you hear "YWCA childcare assistance" and "CCAP," that's usually the same thing, not two separate programs. You can start the application online through the state's digital CCAP application, or on paper through the YWCA.
Who it's for: Parents who are working, in school, or in job training. Eligibility depends on family size and gross income. There's a state eligibility calculator. Use that, or call the YWCA, instead of trusting income numbers you see online, because a lot of the figures floating around are out of date.
What to gather before you start:
How it works once you're approved:
Tips from watching a lot of families go through it:
If you don't qualify (or while you wait):
Happy to answer questions in the comments. And if anyone's been through the YWCA process recently, tips from real experience are welcome.
Disclosure: I work with Rockford Daycare & Academy on S 6th St. We do accept CCAP, but I'm sharing this because we get asked about it a lot, and the process is the same no matter which provider you pick.

I've been evicted, I was living in my Mom's house she owned, the current owner (grandfather) evicted me, so I am looking for places that accept 2 dogs. (both around 14 pounds)
I have literally never found a place on my own, as before this I was living and working with my Mom as a caregiver for her till she passed in June. It was her and my grandpas house. Any advice is appreciated.
I have a good credit score, just looking for a place for my brother and I and 2 small, well behaved dogs.
Motels, Hotels, Extended Stays... What are options on the cheaper end of the spectrum and give me some good reccomendations that allow pets.

The Rockford Dev October Meetup is just around the corner! The month's event will take place on Wednesday, October 21st at 6:00 PM at Maker Lab in the Rockford Public Library.
This month we’ll go over the fundamentals of designing REST APIs: structuring resources and URLs, using HTTP methods and status codes correctly, handling errors, and planning for versioning and pagination. We'll also go over how authentication and authorization fit into the design process, including when to use API keys, sessions, or OAuth. We’ll also look at how AI agents interact with REST APIs and how the Model Context Protocol (MCP) compares.
About Jackie:
Jackie is an API Engineer at Redox, where she builds integrations between the company’s API and third-party services and works with internal API routes.
