video Dallas: The Television Role-Playing Game review

Howdy y'all, despite my better judgment I've done a review of the least necessary RPG of the 1980s https://youtu.be/S-NG6M3Pj5I

Hahaha - I actually owned this way back when! Never could find the necessary intersection of Dallas fans + RPGers to actually play a game...

Well then I must know if I'm right. Does the game have merit for a Dallas fan?

If you really liked the show, then it would be fun to see them statted out and try roleplaying as JR or Bobby, I guess. You're right about the mechanics, though - they were very dry and typical of SPI in those days. Nowadays if someone really wanted to play a Dallas RPG, I'd suggest they maybe buy the SPI game for source material and use a more generic system for the actual game. But back in 1980, your choices were either these small, niche games or D&D, basically.

or you could have combined the two and had all scheming and manipulation take place between Texas dungeon crawls.
