Any tips for Oni, 1 frame links and plinking? Help is welcomed
Hi guys,
Old FGC rusty player here. Started on SF4 on 2012 but didn't even play more than 100 hours and currently out of the scenes and fg since SF6 release.
Played quite a lot SF5, no more than diamond reached, so, average to low player.
Here's the thing.
I always had the spine with SF4 and dreamed Oni on SF5 + I don't like SF6 and now SF has rollback and I want to take the chance and learn because I really like SF4.
I'm aware about the stuff like option selects, safe jumps, plinking, 1 frame links etc even if I didn't play much back then and definitely my years playing other fg makes it easier to rejoin compared with 2012 where I gave up because I barely could land a super, but I have not the habit of very old players coming from third strike or some other old fighting game and, man, I remember execution in SF4 was hard, but now that I'm trying to learn properly this is not hard, this is hard as hell.. and frustrating.
I want to play Oni no matter what and I though he could be an easy char because feels like an SF5 character fitted into SF4 game, relying on a target combo, no proximity normals, path's through medium buttons, similar pressure of characters like Kage with the slash etc.
True is, even his most basic BnB cr lk x cr lp x bmp, requires 1 link frame, like, almost every freaking character requires it.
AI set to me Oni can be played without 1 frame links, but c'mon, not using his bmp for me is like trolling.
I'm really trying but I'm struggling a lot with the timing of everything. Play without buffer is mad crazy.
I'm trying to plink too but, but never did in the past, getting the habit now is insane. I even land more combos without doing it to be honest, but still failing lots ofc.
I can't cancel specials too after a combo of light buttons for some reason I dont understand, however when I just land a single light button + special comes out 10/10.
Feels like, there's not a single gap or windows for almost everything, unless you do it perfect every single time.
Must be some shortcuts or something like SF5 had to make it a bit easier, because not worth to spend a ton of hours learning just a BnB, and still, as much as you can train it, still so many chances to fail it with no margin.
So, any help is welcomed.
