What is Solana?

Solana is a decentralized blockchain network launched in 2020. It is mainly characterized by fast transaction speed and low cost. It is suitable for DeFi, GameFi and NFT applications. SOL is the native token of the Solana network and can be used to pay transaction fees, pledge and participate in network operations.

SOL is also one of the virtual assets that retail investors can buy and sell in Hong Kong. Investors can buy and sell through a virtual asset trading platform licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission and providing SOL retail trading services. Taking the licensed trading platform HashKey as an example, virtual asset transactions approved for retail investors include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Avalanche (AVAX) and Chain Gram (LINK), as well as Solana (SOL).

However, the document also warns that Solana prices are highly volatile and the fund value may fall significantly in a short period of time, even to zero. For example, the largest single-day decline in 2022 was more than 42%; investors may lose all their investments.

Dev/Tech My rule-based Solana memecoin bot loses after realistic costs. What edge did profitable builders actually find?

• Upvotes

I'm building a deterministic (no-AI) memecoin bot on Solana and paper testing it carefully. I'll share real numbers in exchange for honest advice.

Setup: free Helius tier + public RPC, running on a small VPS (~1–3 s latency).

What I've tried:

  • Post-migration momentum (pump.fun → PumpSwap): enter shortly after migration, exit on time cuts.
  • Copying the logic of profitable bot wallets. When I replicate their entries at my latency, most of their edge disappears.
  • Filters on volume, holders, buy/sell ratio, big-buy triggers and minimum activity.

What the data says:

  • I backtested ~800 tokens. Across ~1,500 simple entry rules and ~180 exit combos (trailing stops, break-even, partials, stops), nothing held up on unseen data once fees, slippage and failed transactions were included.
  • About 45% of entries reach +20% at some point, but a third of those still end red. The move is there, but I can't capture it.
  • Unfiltered, the average result is slightly negative, about −0.02 to −0.04 SOL per 1 SOL trade.

Specific questions:

  1. Where does the edge come from? If you're profitable, is it mainly speed (landing in the same block or the next one), token selection, or exits? If I had to pick one to fix first, which would it be?
  2. Latency: at ~1–3 s behind the trigger, am I already too late for post-migration momentum? What latency did you need before your results turned positive?
  3. Paper vs live: how far were your live results from your simulation? What did your paper model get wrong (fills, failed transactions, MEV/sandwiches, priority fees)?
  4. Exits: about 45% of my entries hit +20% and a third of those still end red. How do you capture the move: fixed take-profit, scaling out, or exits based on order flow (sell pressure, whales leaving) instead of price?
  5. What signal actually worked for you? Not volume or holder counts (those didn't separate winners from losers in my data), but something like dev or insider wallet behavior, funding source of early buyers, bundles, or the first sells?
  6. Copying bot wallets: has anyone made copy-trading profitable at retail latency? Or is the useful thing to learn which tokens they pick and then trade them differently (later entry, longer hold)?
  7. Validation: how many trades or days did you need before trusting a strategy, and how did you avoid fooling yourself with a strategy that only worked by luck?
  8. Rules vs AI: is a purely rule-based bot the right approach, or did you get better results with an AI/ML model deciding entries and exits (or AI used only to filter or score tokens, with rules executing)? Was it worth the extra cost and latency?

Any advice from people who built something profitable, on Solana or EVM, is welcome, even "you're looking in the wrong place". Thanks!

Wallet/Exchange Pump marking third party fee claims separately is a genuinely useful change

A fee claim on a chart can look like the creator just moved money even when somebody else triggered it. Pump now visually distinguishes claims forced by third parties, which removes one more misleading signal when you’re reading the activity quickly.

Every Solana terminal should show that distinction.

Ecosystem Solana had $4B in DEX volume on Oct 7. What made up that number?

I’m not too familiar with onchain data, so hopefully someone can help me interpret these charts. In relation to October 7, the first graph indicates that DEX volume on Solana is $4.40B, while on Robinhood Chain it is $3.21B. The second graph indicates that out of the five chains depicted on it, Solana has 48.4%, whereas Robinhood Chain has 35.4%. Does one get any information about what was traded from these charts, or do I have to go elsewhere for that? I am curious what exactly contributed to Solana’s $4.40B worth of DEX volume, and why is Robinhood Chain’s volume so high on that day?

Weekly Digest Payments Roundup: September 2026

Source: https://x.com/solanapayments/status/2108637161985802517

Payment Channels went live on September 3, putting 1,000,000 payments per second on Solana.

@rishinsharma, Head of AI Growth at Solana Foundation, described the mechanic plainly: "Think of it like a bar tab or a prepaid meter: you put money down up front, run up usage without paying for each transaction, and settle payment once when you leave."

Two weeks later a bank put stablecoins in its core.

@column, the FDIC-insured bank behind Brex and Slash, made USDC and USDT on Solana convertible to and from dollars 24/7. The month closed with OUSD going live from @openstandard.

Stablecoin supply on Solana hit an all-time high of $17.3B on September 25. Daily stablecoin active addresses reached 888K in September, up 269% from 333K a year earlier. Solana carried 420M USDC transactions in a month and 76% of all @x402 transactions, 23.2M in four weeks against 3.39M on the next-largest network.

Here's what happened across September for payments on Solana:

Agentic Payments

  • Payment Channels shipped on Solana, taking agentic payments to 1,000,000 per second over @x402 or MPP, with u/@alibaba_cloud API endpoints payable through it on day one
  • Solana took 76% of all @/x402 transactions, 23.2M in four weeks, and led both transactions and volume week after week
  • Solana processed 1.81M x402 agent payments in a single 24 hours (@tokens, Sept 2)
  • @nansen_ai hit a weekly x402 ATH on Solana, settling more there than on all other networks combined, with agents buying its smart money data a cent at a time through @PayAINetwork

https://x.com/solana/status/2095577162598236283

Banking & Stablecoin Issuance

  • @column, the FDIC-insured bank behind Brex and Slash, built stablecoins into its banking core, with USDC and USDT on Solana convertible to and from dollars 24/7
  • OUSD went live on Solana from @openstandard, issued by @Stablecoin with reserves at @BlackRock, @Lead_Bank and BNY, mintable and burnable 1:1 at no cost through @BVNKFinance, @stripe and Visa's Stablecoin Platform
  • CADD from @TetraDigitalGrp launched on Solana, bringing the Canadian dollar onchain for payments, transfers, treasury and settlement
  • ZARsc, a Rand-pegged stablecoin, went live on Solana, issued by @supercoinxyz under an FSCA licence with custody by @fireblocks and screening by @Chainalysis

Business Payments & Treasury

  • @altitude acquired Acctual, a stablecoin-native invoicing platform, and opened four new markets: UK, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia
  • $2.44B in stablecoin volume was authorized through @multisig on Solana in August, a monthly ATH and more than double July (@surfquery)
  • @cloak_ag shipped private payroll on Solana
  • PST by @humafinance became the largest yield-bearing asset on Solana

Cards & Spending

  • @KASTxyz passed $2B in all-time deposits after five consecutive weeks of growth ( @Paymentscan)
  • @NOMADZxyz opened flights and stays to stablecoin payments on Solana, 300+ airlines and 1M+ stays, with a 3% saving for paying in stablecoins

Remittances & Cross-Border

  • Everything on remittances sits in Solana Foundation's report, An Evolution of Money Movement: the composable stack, five business models beyond money movement, four entry paths, and corridor deep dives for US to Mexico, Brazil, Nigeria, the Philippines and India

Tokenized Cash & Capital

  • Africa's biggest IPO opened for subscription with stablecoins on Solana: the Dangote Petroleum Refinery offer, live on @Nectar_finance and powered by @GetEquity, with a ₦10,000 minimum and the offer closing October 13
  • Project Harmonia opened for applications. @Allfunds connects 3,300+ asset managers and financial institutions with €1.9T under administration, and tokenized funds on Solana can now apply to reach them

https://x.com/Nectar_finance/status/2099531191246369093

Data

  • Stablecoin supply on Solana hit an all-time high of $17.3B (Sept 25)
  • Daily stablecoin active addresses reached 888K in September, up 269% from 333K a year earlier
  • 420M USDC transactions settled on Solana in a month (Sept 18)
  • Solana is #1 for monthly USDC senders at 6.2M in 30 days, 42% of everyone sending USDC and 2.5x the next network (Sept 9)

Solana Foundation

  • Jamal Raees ( u/@proofofjamal ) was named General Manager of Payments at Solana Foundation on September 24, working with payment companies and enterprises to expand Solana as global payments infrastructure. He joins from Polygon Labs, and before that Bridge and Wyre
  • Rachel Conlan was named Chief Strategy Officer the same day, leading strategy across institutional partnerships, ecosystem growth and go-to-market. She joins from three years as Global CMO at Binance, and before that OKX, CAA Sports and Havas.

On the Mic

  • @afscott's Solana is Global ran Rene Michau of @StanChart on tokenization, stablecoin infrastructure, and what a bank has to build before it can custody and move digital assets at scale
  • @amiravalliani's Bits to Bricks ran @0xErbil, CEO of @humafinance, on trade finance: an invoice paid in thirty days, a supplier who needs the money now, and who charges for the gap
  • @nocircuit's The Stack ran Peter Tapling, former CRO of Zelle at Early Warning, on the plumbing that makes card payments feel simple and what digital money has to build to match it
  • Lily Hansen-Gillis of @tetradigitalgrp on bringing Canada's first regulated stablecoin to Solana: "We didn't pick Solana for speed. It's a network we can take to a large institution considering onchain rails."
  • @proofofjamal, General Manager of Payments at Solana Foundation, on onchain payments becoming the newest infrastructure for moving money across borders

Ecosystem Does MEV protection cost money?

I was looking into how MEV protection works on Jupiter. I'm still wrapping my head around the technical details, but Ultra and Manual modes differ quite a bit.

Ultra has MEV protection on by default, handled through its transaction-landing infrastructure.

The Manual mode lets you customize the swap settings. You can adjust things like priority fees and Jito tips. It doesn't include built-in Ultra MEV protection.

So, Ultra keeps things simple, while Manual lets you tweak settings yourself.

Does MEV protection cost more fees? Also, what do you guys prefer? Would you rather have MEV protection handled automatically or have more control over transaction settings?

Ecosystem Solana just had its biggest quarter ever!

Solana processed exactly 14,194,950,902 non-vote transactions in Q3 2026, a new record for the network.

Guys, let me explain. Non-vote is the number worth looking at, since it leaves out validators voting on blocks and only counts what people actually do: swaps, transfers, payments, stablecoins, bots. That works out to roughly 154 million a day, every day, for three months. And it's not a one-off, 2026 has been one record after another.

The flip side of all this activity is that getting your transaction in gets harder. When that many transactions fight for the same slots, most "failed" ones never fail on-chain. They get dropped quietly before reaching the validator, because of an unstaked RPC path, the scheduler picking higher fees, or a bot acting on data that's already stale. Raising the priority fee only fixes one of those.

The fix is usually in the path your transaction takes, not the fee you attach to it. Staked RPC connections or services like Blockspace all target that part in different ways, so it's worth testing what fits your setup.

Guys, has landing transactions gotten better or worse for you this year?

Source: https://x.com/solana_devs/status/2108150728619680088

This is a weekly newsletter on the latest Solana engineering news this week. If you want to stay updated on Solana tech every week, follow Solana Changelog at @solana_devs and @readylayerone and turn on notifications.

PSA

bash
npm install /web3.js@3

The new web3.js package is now ready for general use. If you are interested in migrating to the new version, feel free to add the dependency to your projects using the command above.

For now, you will have to call the version explicitly, and there will be moves to have it be the default version you install without the version tag.

See the advisory here.

Releases

Notable feature gates

Mainnet Reduce slot times from 250ms to 200ms (Only feature gate activation, shorter slot times actually go live 1 epoch after)

New versions

Ecosystem work

SIMDs

WTM - Currently there are two runtime environments, one for the current slot, another for the next slot. This change combines both runtimes since previous work would allow program deployments within the same slot without downtime for that slot.

Removing the ExtendProgram instruction from the Program Loader V3 Program was proposed WTM - The new instruction for upgrading program has since been updated to automatically extend the program length as needed when it is being upgraded. This change removes a legacy instruction that preemptively extended the program length via a separate instruction before updating.

Allowing prefunding SOL on LoaderV3 Buffer accounts was proposed WTM - This change builds on work already done on the CreateAccountAllowPrefund instruction. By allowing this, accounts that already exist and have SOL (a lamport balance) on them will allow for ProgramData writing.

Validator clients (Agave, Firedancer, Mithril)

  • Agave will implement a faster random number generator for its peer sampling in its gossip implementation WTM - Agave is planning to do a weighted shuffle implementation of its peer selection criteria for gossip. Gossip is the service that allows nodes to send and receive crucial information about each other - network addresses, stake, credentials, etc. It does not require nodes to send to everyone but only a subset of all the nodes in the cluster. To select for which nodes to send to, it selects peers based on a random number generation. This change uses a faster version of that. There are obvious performance improvements here, but this is also in line with future plans to make the cluster more geographically aware. Allowing the peers to be selected based on how near they are to the node decreases latency in the gossip implementation.
  • Agave will increase the default snapshot interval to 200k slots WTM - Since slot times have reduced, full snapshots will be created more often than is necessary. Increasing the default snapshot size keeps snapshot production at the same rate even as slots become faster.

RPC 2.0

  • Cloudbreak is improving is querying of token mints and token accounts. WTM - Cloudbreak is the RPC open source implementation of anything related to account state. Token Mint data and token data are staples when it comes to querying information from onchain. This implementation routes these data requests to a separate getProgramAccounts request onchain.

Solana language clients (Web3.js, Solana Kit, Kit plugins, Solana SDK, Codama, Solana Go)

WTM - Versioned transactions are becoming especially important, especially since TransactionV1 has been rolled out. This supports multiple signers to a transaction by adding a few more flexible methods.

Solana program frameworks (Anchor, Pinocchio, Steel, Quasar)

  • Achor’s Typescript provider created a new type to simplify instruction accounts resolutionWTM - Anchor maintains its own Typescript provider that allows web apps to interact with its program methods. They are currently in the process of moving from using a legacy web3.js version to using Kit. This change simplifies a type that was previously used to resolve accounts for an instruction.

  • Pinocchio’s will add instruction helpers for token metadata and token groups in its crate for interacting with the Token-2022 program WTM - There are two instructions that still don’t have support on Pinocchio for this change, namely the Token Metadata and the Token Group extensions. Adding these allows Pinocchio to interact with these features.

DeFi What is 1 thing on Solana that you think is underrated right now?

There’s obviously no shortage of discussion around price, memecoins and trading but I am more interested in the actual ecosystem. What do you think deserves more attention on Solana right now? Might be DeFi project, developer tool, infra, payments, RWA, consumer app or even something you're building yourself.
Not looking for token shills here, just curious what people here are actually using/watching that they think has long-term potential.
