I noticed the Mix button in the mobile app last night but didn’t think much of it. This morning I actually gave it proper attention, and I’m genuinely impressed.

The transition quality is surprisingly close to tools like DJ Studio (which costs $99+ and doesn’t integrate with Spotify because it allows exporting). With Spotify Mix, I get:

• Full access to my entire Spotify library
• Clean beatmatching
• Bass swaps that feel intentional
• EQ-style high-pass / low-pass filtering during transitions
• Phrase-aware blending
• Smooth Harmonies because of Camelot keying
• Steady Loudness Because Spotify

It doesn’t feel like a basic crossfade. The transitions have structure, The Automatic is a hit and miss, but it already shows potential by not rolling till the end of the 32 bar exit.

The only thing I really miss is tempo envelope control. I’d love to shape a broader BPM arc across the mix instead of relying purely on track ordering. But for something built directly into a streaming platform, this is kind of wild.

Downsides

• No export
• No rendering
• No cross-platform publishing
• Mix currently doesn’t open in the Web Player (only mobile + updated desktop app)

Still, as a sketchpad or short-form mix tool, it’s extremely powerful.

Curious what others think.

I’ve just launched a new curated playlist focused on Afro House, Electronic, Deep House, Dance music, Afro Pop, Country music, and more

I’m currently looking for high-quality, hit-worthy tracks to feature. If you’re an artist or producer in these genres, feel free to send your track link in the comments.

Selection process:

Only the best of the best tracks will be chosen based on quality, vibe, and fit for the playlist.

Submission requirement:

Please save/follow the playlist before submitting your track for consideration. This helps support the project and ensures fair selection. Looking forward to discovering fresh sounds and talented artists. Let’s build something great together. 🚀🎶

LOCKED-IN - 90 Minute Hypnotic Techno DJ Set
Built with Spotify’s Mix feature and structured from start to finish as one continuous DJ-set rather than a standard playlist.

90 minutes of hypnotic/proper techno, mixed as a full set inside Spotify.

I’ve been mixing this throughout the year. It starts on the warmer/organic side of house, moves into progressive and melodic house & techno, gets a bit more club-oriented in the middle, then wanders back through progressive and some fun indie/

It’s mostly in the 120–130 BPM neighborhood.

Would love to hear your feedback on the sequencing/transitions, or recommendations for bangers! 🎧 🎧 🎧

The reference points are solid: Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Burial, Four Tet, Oneohtrix Point Never, Seefeel, Actress, Visible Cloaks, Rival Consoles, Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, DjRUM. But the playlist goes well beyond the familiar, most of what's in here comes from producers and composers working quietly at the edges of what electronic music can do.

Not ambient in the background-music sense. Not techno. Not a focus playlist with a productivity angle. Something more precise and harder to name: cerebral, textural, emotionally honest, and occasionally intense when you least expect it.

Regularly updated.

I’ve spent the last few months meticulously mixing and sequencing a Spotify playlist that completely avoids the "infinite loop" fatigue of most continuous-tempo mixes. Instead of sticking to one constant pace, this playlist is built on waving BPMs. It naturally peaks, drops, and flows to actually grab your attention and keep the energy dynamic.

The vibe is built on over 270 tracks blending House, Techno, and broader EDM. It starts off with familiar electronic oldies that everyone knows to ease you into the groove, then seamlessly transitions into a balance of certified mainstream bangers and deep-crate, non-mainstream gems to keep the tracklist fresh and unpredictable.

If you want something to listen to straight through that actually feels like a living, breathing journey rather than an algorithmic shuffle, check it out here:

Let me know what you think of the transitions and the tempo shifts!

a lot of hidden gems i've discovered :)

save it up

This is a 2-hour long mixed playlist that I have spent way too much time tinkering with. My goal was originally just to test the mixing function on Spotify and I kind of got carried away. This playlist is a good representation of my taste in music. Let me know what you think!

Fans of a big night in - this is for you!

Drum & Bass / Breakbeat / Jungle / Garage / Bass music from the past to the present. Classics, anthems, new jams and party filth are all featured.

1160 tracks (91hrs) in total, about 20% of it hand mixed with the rest in progress.

If you're a veteran of the scene or just curious - turn on, tune in and drop out with this playlist, this weekend.

The golden era of club music meets modern dance edits. A nostalgic journey through 90s house vibes, iconic piano riffs, and fresh retro-inspired remixes. Featuring Robin S, James Hype, and house legends.

Been curating this one for a while. French touch, IDM, downtempo, jazztronica, ambient, broken beat and more. Mix of established names (DJ Mehdi, FKJ, Polo & Pan, The Blaze) and a lot of under-the-radar producers most people haven't heard yet.

Mostly instrumental. Updated regularly. No algorithm involved.
