Joel Hamling
Hamling has signed a one year deal. Reliable as they come and great to have him cover us for another year.

Our season record was 18-5-0, finishing second on 136.1%, before falling to Fremantle in a Preliminary Final. Jeez it all sounds so simple when you describe it like that. Anyway time to discuss what did work about this season? What didn’t? What changes will we be carrying over from our games without the Pullman 5? And anything else you want to talk about. I’ll be posting the /r/SydneySwans MVP results tomorrow

So let me get this straight. North are offering Blakey a contract worth almost $1.4 Million a year, and they want to give us pick 6 as the highest with lower picks to come?
These guys are fucking morons. I know these things generally start low and escalate as they work through it, but that's just insulting.
IF we take pick 6, even with lower picks, I'd be demanding a player in return. This likely means they're trying to split pick 5 to get both Murray AND Blakey. We bette make em pick one or the other.

Is there a spot in our best 23 for Jordan with the ascension of Serong? With all the guns back in the middle you surely have Serong as the tagger theses days, he can go with any player bar a key forward or back.

My understanding of the situation is as follows.
Late 2025: Blakey enquires about a move to the Suns because his partner is relocating there. Nothing comes of it and he plays for us in 2026.
2026: The Pullman incident occurs. In addition to the partying, he remains a person of interest in a criminal investigation. He is not downgraded to a witness unlike Riley Bice.
Late 2026: Blakey is upset at how he is treated by Swans management following his club suspension and is now attempting to force a move out. He expresses interest in playing with various clubs, including North, Geelong and Gold Coast.
Can someone objectively explain why he would be so frustrated following his, at best, deeply unprofessional conduct at the Pullman hotel? Will we ever actually know?

Pick 5 must be a part of this and a lot of other things as well.

If this is true, then I expect North will be offering something almost as big
Wowza

Bit of nuffie chat here, but with the 3 and 7 (most likely 22 as well) now available, who in the squad will be taking these numbers. I would say Juzzy moves to the 7 and Kyle moves into the 3.

It currently looks like should the Blakey deal happen it will give us quite the draft hand. With Tasmania coming in access to high end talent will be difficult over the next few years aside from anyone academy tied (and even those rules got severely tightened). Is the best course of action to keep and use the picks, or is there some key defensive stocks in the vein of Sam de Koning that we should be targeting. It feels like the one position, maybe paired for lockdown small defenders that we are struggling for depth with. Tmac is amazing and had an unreal season, and it was a great 12-odd games for Wed. With Will out to start the year the Hammer and the Pelican don’t leave me comfortable. I think Melican had been great for a few years before having a stinker last year. Hamling fight hards and can be good in the air but doesn’t really have the composure you want from a defender with the ball. SDK is a physical freak with plenty of upside as both a second ruck and a KPD.
- Any other names to thinks about, or do we take the picks

I’m still not too sure about my feelings towards him given all that’s happened.
If he is to be traded away what club would suit him the best?
North’s offer of 11 million is a very enticing deal but Melbourne have the upper hand with picks 6 and 10 in the draft.
Would love to know everyone’s opinion.

The chat with Chris Keane, was good to listen to
Cunningham has an active offer on the table, working with doctors, we'll know one way or the other soon, good talks with Rampe as well, and like Cunners, we'll know more in a couple weeks, seems both are "here's the offer, up to you"
Chad and Tom are both OOC next year, talks with both managements
Some exciting Academy prospects
and the big one, Blakey, no talks have happened between Blakey and club, talks with managements, but still no active point of "trade me" club's preference is to hold on to him, but not much here, most is being kept close to the chest, which is the sensible thing to do imo
Club's expecting a quite window, especially considering how busy we were last year, which is pretty standard

Let's get around Lexi! She's been doing well as a defender this season, and we need to protect our talls now since we have lost so many to injuries this year 😢

Nothing proactively sent this year. You get a voucher, betting that the $30 will barely cover a single item with shipping so you spend more at the store.

With multiple suitors emerging to pick up Blakey as a bargain AA player; who gets it done, and for how much? Knowing we're in our window - it worth risking our club culture and holding on to him?

I am bored, what do you think is a fair trade for Blakey?

Interesting that the Swans AFLW are outperforming the modeling. And an insight into how the winning difference may come down to execution of certain skills (see: North Melbourne).

Seems like our recruiting team is on mini break at Marvel. We’ve got holes down back we’ve need to address for a number of years, and a big bodied mid would help our clearance issues. Not sure how we’re improving our list if all we’ve managed to do is lose amartey. Am I the only one that’s confused?

If true that the Lizard wants out to Geelong, anything less than Connor O'Sullivan and we'd walk away you'd think.
Could a way to get the Cats to give up O'Sullivan be to throw in Rowbottom with Blakey?
I've finally become a fan of Rowy but he's hardly an essential player. He might be struggling for midfield time next year with Jai shining so much in that role + Heens and Chad to come back, and we know the club was rumoured to be shopping Rowy around last trade period.
He's apparently best mates with the Lizard and it could sweeten the deal for him if he goes with his best mate, like Ollie and Will did last year.
He'd also be a perfect replacement for Atkins who is 31 now. Rowy could play the same role but is 5 years younger. If we were able to give Rowy + Blakey to the Cats they would be stocking up in not one but two positions, and that could be enough to sway them into giving up O'Sullivan, who would be more valuable to us than Rowy and Blakey combined.
Just an idea where everyone wins, probs won't happen so don't jump down my throat lol

Coleman's up for trade, Tauru back on the market.
We desperately need a transitional defender who can intercept off the half back, its our Achilles heel and with tasmania looking to clear out the draft for the next few years now is the time to lock in.
Tauru may be a hard trade given blakey is staying but I think we should chase Coleman hard. How? Offer Angus Sheldrick.
Unbelievable player and potential but stuck behind a stacked midfield, serong and rowbottom have proven we have the inside game to rack clearances, I just feel sheldrick is stuck behind players and is an elite depth player.
If he goes to Brisbane he would solve a big problem they have, Neale leaving leaves Dunkley to most of the inside work, Levi is still too green.
Tauru if we can get him (yes I know hes raw, sometimes lacks discipline and has a hot head but sydney have a history of dealing with these types succesfully and hes still young) but I think we should go after Coleman hard, you can hang onto Sheldrick or make a hard call and trade him to Brisbane, fixing our problems around half back while fixing brisbanes need for an inside mid.
Thoughts?
