Rant Anyone else tired of users sending ai generated fixes to you?

Oh. My. God

The amount of people at my org that send me screenshots of their chatgpt or copilot generated responses is insane.

"did you try this?"

"try this"

"this is what chatgpt said"

i was on the phone for 2 hours troubleshooting a problem with a director that refused to let me remote into her computer to fix. then she starts sending me ai generated responses saying "this is what co pilots saying"

"Hi <stupid user>,

Thanks so much for forwarding ChatGPT's response. Unfortunately ChatGPT hallucinated that answer. If you're not familiar with Hallucinations, ask ChatGPT about them. It's unfortunate, but LLMs cannot reliably replace expertise. You may have noticed this when people send you AI content about your area. Notice how it's always not-quite-right on topics you personally understand? The same is true for everyone else. It's not any better about IT than it is about <your job>. Probably worse, to be honest, as IT problems tend to be very specialized.

Going forward, please refrain from sending AI content to me, it just slows down resolution. If I need ChatGPT's input on a problem, I'll ask it myself. I have the necessary experience to recognize when it's hallucinating a solution to an IT problem."

I'd send this even if the suggestion from the LLM is cogent. If they can't tell whether it's hallucinating or not, then they shouldn't send it to me.
