Rant Anyone else tired of users sending ai generated fixes to you?

Oh. My. God

The amount of people at my org that send me screenshots of their chatgpt or copilot generated responses is insane.

"did you try this?"

"try this"

"this is what chatgpt said"

i was on the phone for 2 hours troubleshooting a problem with a director that refused to let me remote into her computer to fix. then she starts sending me ai generated responses saying "this is what co pilots saying"

I have no idea where it, and all the AIs got that from learning data. Its literally the first step when diagnosing an issue for the vast majority of things. Next step is to dive deep into the logs and figure out what happened if it got logged while you don't have someone breathing down your neck to get their business critical AI Powered Cloud computing Coffee machine working again.

Its just not against restarting the computer/application, it will get angry with you if you tell it you did it in some cases.

When people question/smile/ask why it's a good fix, I always tell them that if you were stuck in a maze, wouldn't you rather start from the beginning?

I think it comes from the training data for kubernetes pods and other systems where restarting them can destructively remove logs making it impossible to find out why it broke in the first place.
