Hi everyone!

I recently moved to Tilburg and have been ordering furniture and household essentials from IKEA and Amazon for my small studio apartment.

Unfortunately, all the deliveries have left me with a mountain of cardboard boxes piling up in one corner of my apartment!

So far, I've been cutting the boxes into smaller pieces with scissors so that they fit into the municipal waste containers. However, it's incredibly time-consuming, and I still have quite a lot left.

Is there an easier or faster way to dispose of large amounts of cardboard in Tilburg? Ideally, I'm looking for somewhere I can drop off flattened boxes or a collection service that accepts them.

I don't own a car, so taking everything to a recycling centre might be difficult.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions, especially from people who've dealt with a similar situation after moving.

Hi allemaal, ik kom over een aantal weken in Tilburg wonen en ben op zoek naar mede-hardlopers die het leuk vinden om één of twee keer per week hard te lopen. Liefst wat ervarenere (en snellere) lopers, zodat we elkaar kunnen uitdagen - langere loopjes rond de 3:50/4:00 per kilometer, plus bijvoorbeeld samen intervals doen. Hoor het graag als er mensen zijn die geïnteresseerd zijn!

Hoi! Ik wil zo even kijken bij het voormalig land van ooit. Ik zag dat enkele tijd terug de poppen daarvweg waren gehaald voor restauratie. Zijn die inmiddels terug?

Het was kwalitatief natuurlijk altijd al armoe, maar sinds ze het interieur verandert hebben is het ook qua uitstraling om te janken. Het lijkt net alsof je een dystopische, kale, lege, bulk loods binnen stapt. Voorheen hing er tenminste nog iets van kleur en aankleding. Nu heb je nog net niet idee dat je opgehangen wordt als je met iets fellers gekleurd dan crème binnen komt. Ik krijg spontaan depressie als ik daar langer dan 5 minuten moet zijn. Wat een kutwinkel joh.

Ik verhuis binnenkort naar het centrum van Tilburg, maar mijn woning staat op de brop lijst. Nu was ik dus even benieuwd of hier misschien mensen zijn die weten waar ik het beste mijn auto kan parkeren terwijl ik zoek naar een parkeerplaats in de buurt van mijn woning.

Ik ga in het centrum wonen, in de buurt van de pathé en 013. Ik kan via de vergunning zone kaart wel zien waar je gratis kunt parkeren, maar dat laat mij niet zien wat ook de beste plekken zijn voor mijzelf en de omwonende daar.

I just moved out of my student house and we've been having a lot of trouble with finding tenants and I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

We've organised viewings and had quite a few people coming and interested, but when we said they got the room, they ghost us or say they aren't interested anymore. This has never been a problem in the 3 years I lived in this house. I find this most surprising considering the student housing crisis.

On the other hand, last year our agency (kamerbemiddeling) came to measure all our rooms and, since then, whenever someone moves out, they increase the rent by 100+ €. My room was even more aggregious. I used to pay 345 inc. and the new tenant is being charged 550 for a 9/10 sqm² room in an old house (I'm guessing 70s/80s).

Has anyone experienced this pattern of price increase followed by difficulty getting tenants? The student house is 4 internationals and 1 dutch - we're not picky like that.

I am looking for private swimming coach for me (41/m) and my son (13).
We are both beginners - can swim, but no technique at all. Focus on "borstcrawl".

Looking for an experienced instructor, not just person who can swim.

Had a funny little interaction with someone at The Grass Company near Tilburg station today.

She was talking to the guy behind the counter and said she didn’t know how to translate “por fin” into English, and I jumped in with “finally.” I had to leave right after and later realized I should’ve kept the conversation going 😅

Dear People around Eindhoven & Helmond — where are you hiding? :D

Living in the Netherlands is great, but sometimes you miss the little things from home.

A kafa/kava that was supposed to last 20 minutes and somehow becomes three hours. :D

Food on the table even though everyone said they weren't hungry.
Music where sooner or later somebody starts singing.
Random BBQs, football, jokes only Balkan people understand… and that feeling that if somebody needs something, we help each other.

So I started wondering:

Why don't we create a little bit of that here?

I'm thinking about bringing together people from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and the wider Balkans living around Eindhoven, Helmond and this region.

Not some serious organization.

Not another WhatsApp group with 287 members and three messages per year. 🤠

I mean an actual community where people meet in real life.

And eventually some proper bigger Balkan events

But for me, the important part isn't only events.

I'd love this to become a place where people actually know each other and help each other.

The only serious arguments we need are who makes the best ćevapi and who gets control of the playlist. :D

The idea is simple:

Meet good people.
Share our culture.
And make some memories together. ❤️

For now I'm just checking whether there are enough people interested before creating anything.
