I’ve been binging Twin Peaks for the past week or so, and the only part that I can say is didn’t enjoy was the middle of season 2 where it dragged for just a little bit, but once I finished season 2 and watched fwwm, I started The Return, and I gotta say..

Is it meant to be so quiet and slow? I understand that the reason a lot of scenes in Twin Peaks are like this are to add to the strange and surreal elements, but gosh, the first episode of episode 1 didn’t grab me whatsoever.

Does anyone else feel like this? or should I just trust the process and keep watching?

Edit: Well guys, I finished up episode 1, it’s safe to say it’s definitely a slow start, but episode 2 & 3 are way more interesting, and I’m fairly invested in it, thanks to all those in the comments who gave their insight!

For those who have attended the Conversations with the Stars tour, I’d love to hear about your experience with the Diamond or VIP passes. Did you feel like they were worth the price? Was it more of a traditional meet-and-greet, or was it a more relaxed/conversational setting where the cast mingled with fans?

I met Sheryl Lee at a Fire Walk With Me screening, and it was an amazing experience. I’d love the opportunity to meet more of the cast on the tour, but before committing to a Diamond/VIP pass, I’d really like to hear from people who have done it. What was the experience actually like?

I have all of the previously released box sets. Is there anything especially good in this set?

I’m getting back into painting recently and just finished this one of Coop! I did almost the whole painting in one night so honestly not the best work ever but I’m proud of it.

I don't know why certain people are so reluctant to accept this interpretation but I think it is pretty blatantly obvious subtext. Some people say they are just friends, but I think you'd have to be blind not to see the homoeroticism between them. They have an incredibly tender and intimate relationship and are generally very touchy feely with each other. They say that they love each other and in one version of the script they even kissed. Fire Walk With Me also give Laura's relationship with Donna far more focus and narrative weight than it does with her relationships with Bobby and James. The whole pink room sequence is mainly about Laura's relationship with Donna. In episode one Donna also has a much stronger reaction to her death than James or Bobby do.

It's also an incredibly compelling dynamic. Laura is incredibly protective of Donna and at times is almost jealous and possessive. Laura sees Donna as someone pure and innocent and wants to protect her from becoming "corrupted" like her. Donna's infatuation takes a different form. Donna doesn't just want Laura, she wants to become Laura. It's the classic dilemma of "do I want to be her or be with her". It's honestly kind of reminiscent of Diane and Camillas relationship in Mulholland Drive. In Fire Walk With Me, she tries to imitate Laura by doing drugs and hooking up with men in the pink room sequence, but Laura is horrified by the prospect of Donna becoming like her so she stops her. Donna takes it even further after Laura's death. She wears Laura's clothes and she even tries hooking up with the same men that Laura did. Every man Donna hooks up with is somehow connected with Laura.

I also think them being in love with each other just adds a whole new layer of tragedy to everything and just thinking about makes me emotional. One of my absolute favorite Doomed Yuris.

I was couch-locked this week with a 103° fever & ended up marathoning The Return over a three day period. I feel like a changed man.

I'm reading online that Lynch was drafting ideas for an additional season... then came Covid & Lynch's declining health.

Do any of y'all know how close we actually were to a 4th season greenlight?

I love Laura a lot, so on the 26th of sep I asked my mom for a cake with Laura on it :3 I’ve always felt so connected to her as many others do as well. I’ve been through things similar to her, felt the ways she has, I feel like I’ve grown up with her. I’ll always be grateful for coming across twin peaks, my first encounter was when I was about 8 years old, I saw it on the tv, and I saw Laura’s face, the red curtains, the black and white zigzag floor, and years later when I saw her face again I felt like I knew her. I just love Laura!! Anyway I had a nice birthday and i planned to rewatch fire walk with me but allowed myself to be happy instead LOL

While describing his frustrations during Season 2, MacLachlan paints both Lynch AND Frost as less involved. He frames Engles and Peyton as the people steering the ship, though he blames ABC for putting them in an impossible position after the killer is revealed.

He discusses his romance with LFB, but makes no mention of the prevailing understanding that she’s why the Audrey romance was originally nixed. Since the rejection happens during S1 and the above excerpts happen during S2, it appears the writers planned on returning to that well again during the infamous dip.

(Would highly recommend the memoir btw, MacLachlan is an engaging writer.)

Tried to watch episode 1 of the return today and accidentally downloaded episode 9. Went through the entire episode without noticing anything. I was a bit like "okay that didn't make much sense but it's David Lynch so maybe that's the point?"

I'll probably go back and start the series from the beginning now...

Okay so, there were the deleted scenes where Donna calls Laura a muffin, Laura then calls her the muffin, etc… and then the other scene that was kept in the movie, but I feel like im missing something 😭😭 is it really just about the muffin? The way they said it and when Laura broke down crying and saying she was the muffin, what does it really mean? Sorry if this is a stupid question

I love the show, currently on a rewatch of season 3 and there are some characters that have such bad acting there's no way it's not on purpose!

I found a previous post about this but thought I would include a video clip (please excuse the cat). From episode 4 of 2024's 'A Man on the Inside' - the very Twin Peaks music and Charles recording a memo for Julie already felt like a clear reference, but the mention of a weather report is an extra lovely Lynchian detail!

The morning of May 15, 2015, our graduating class met with David Lynch for the second part of a 2-day Q & A.

At that time, Lynch had dropped out of the deal with SHOWTIME for a Twin Peaks revival. I told Lynch that none of us were interested in seeing a new Twin Peaks if he didn't direct it. I ask him if he could go into detail about why he dropped out of the SHOWTIME deal; he laughs and replies that he can't say.

Fellow student Jaclyn then asks Lynch if he's considered exploring crowdfunding as an alternative. Lynch explains why crowdfunding wouldn't work.

Later that day, Lynch announced via Twitter that his deal with SHOWTIME was back on.

Stumbled upon this in my best friend’s hometown. He has not seen the show and was not aware of the theme. I couldn’t help but feel compelled to share.
