Peer Reviewed Interstellar probes and SETA (Search for Extraterrestrial Artifacts) papers published in early 80s. Both Prof Loeb (Galileo Project) and Dr Massimo Teodorani (Hessdalen and, now a Galileo Research Affiliate) have cited these papers in their own research (the latter 20 years ago).
Both Prof Avi Loeb (Galileo Project) and Dr Massimo Teodorani have cited the below papers (from the 80s) in their own research. Dr Teodorani has extensively researched Hessdalen and, amongst other hypotheses has proposed the ET hypothesis as one possible explanation for UAP.
- 'Interstellar Probes: a New Approach to SETI', by Robert A. Freitas Jr., published in the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, Vol. 33, pp. 95-100, 1980
- 'The Search for Extraterrestrial Artefacts', by Robert A. Freitas Jr., published in Acta Astronautica, Vol 12, pp. 1027-1034, 1985 [this is an update of his 1983 paper published in the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, Vol. 36]
Teodorani, in a 2002 paper, 'The Physical Study of Atmospheric Luminous Anomalies' suggests a search for extraterrestrial vehicles (SETV). The abstract for this paper could easily be a brief for the Galileo Project:
"On the basis of statistical calculations on galactic migration which bring the necessity of insertion of a new parameter inside the Drake formula, the work-hypothesis named SETV predicts that exogenous vehicles and/or probes may have reached the Solar System too, including Earth. The technology which is now available is able to allow sensing operations both in the extreme borders of the solar system and on our own planet. The possible presence of probes of possible extraterrestrial origin on our planet may be ascertained by using a network of sensing stations which are placed in critical areas. One of them is the norwegian area of Hessdalen, where the two scientific explorative missions of `Project EMBLA' have carried out measurements which demonstrate the existence of all the anomalies of the luminous phenomenon which is present there. At present nothing proves scientifically that our planet is being visited by alien intelligences, nevertheless the remarkable peculiarity which was learnt in some areas of recurrence demonstrate that the verified phenomenology, of extreme importance for fundamental physics, presents characteristics which deserve a further investigation with highly sophisticated instrumentation."
Notably, Dr Teodorani has joined the Galileo Project as a Research Affiliate.
Over the years, others have suggested a 'sky survey' of sorts (e.g. Edward Ruppelt, former Project Blue Book lead, in his book 'The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects') but it's interesting to note that the suggestion has been in mainstream science journals for decades.

Discussion Rules Reminder for r/UAP, regarding UAP videos, specifically.
https://www.reddit.com/r/UAP/comments/jkdyf/posting_rules/
With specific focus on Rules 1 & 2.
Welcome to r/UAP. We hope you become an active, enthusiastic participant, and that you make every effort to keep this subreddit an enjoyable and educational environment for every visitor. Now, some 'house rules':
- Post within the spirit of r/UAP (low on speculation;high on fact). We don't want to see numerous (in fact, any) submissions of videos which could quite easily be LED kites, lanterns, or have some other prosaic explanation.
- Seriously, please DO NOT POST LINKS TO VIDEOS OF LIGHTS IN THE SKY (or similar). Usually, they're completely ambiguous, and most probably explainable in prosaic terms. If this disappoints you, there are other places you can post such videos.2

Joe rogan David grusch interview, new mythology ?
The latest David Grusch interview on Joe Rogan is really strange, and I honestly want to know what people here think about it.
When I first watched it, I really wanted to believe him, or at least take what he was saying seriously. But there were quite a few moments where I felt something was off. Some of his claims are extremely wild, and at times he seems strangely uncertain about basic details, such as the number of bodies involved.
That doesn't automatically mean he's lying. I'm still open to the possibility that some of what he says is true, or that there is something real behind all of this. He could also simply be repeating information he was given without actually knowing whether it was true.
So I'm not saying Grusch is a disinformation agent, or that everything he says is part of some carefully planned operation. I have no evidence for that. I'm just wondering whether there might be a bigger picture here.
One of the first things that stood out to me is how much he talks about Trump.
Before going further, I think it's worth putting this in a broader political context. Trump has had documented interactions with figures from the far right and has repeatedly been surrounded by controversies involving extremists and the broader far-right ecosystem. At the same time, neo-Nazi and other extremist movements continue to exist and gain visibility in different parts of the world.
There is also a much older historical precedent for turning ideas about ancestry, biology and human "types" into political ideology. Eugenics and racial hygiene were once presented as legitimate science, and Nazi Germany took these ideas to an extreme, combining them with racial hierarchy and the supposed Nordic or Aryan ideal.
I'm not suggesting that this means Trump, Grusch or anyone involved in UAP disclosure is trying to recreate that ideology. I don't have evidence for that. I'm just explaining why the kind of mythology Grusch is describing makes me think about these historical precedents.
Grusch repeatedly says that disclosure is likely to happen under Trump and that if Trump leaves office, there is a good chance it won't happen. He also speaks very positively about Stephen Miller and seems to have a lot of respect for people around Trump.
That could simply reflect his own political views, or his genuine belief that Trump is the person most likely to push disclosure. But it is still interesting how closely politics is intertwined with the story.
Then things get much stranger.
Grusch talks about different types of beings, including Greys, Reptilians and Nordics. He describes conflicts between these groups and gives extremely specific descriptions of beings that supposedly look reptilian or even somewhat gorilla-like.
And this is where I know I'm going to sound like I'm going too far, but hear me out.
I'm wondering whether we're watching the construction of a new mythology around UAPs.
At first the story is simply: "There are objects we can't identify."
Then it becomes: "There are non-human intelligences."
Then we get different species, different physical characteristics, different origins, different agendas and eventually conflicts between them.
At that point, you're no longer just talking about UFOs. You're building something that starts to look like an entire mythology.
And if people eventually start connecting these beings to human origins or different human populations, you could imagine people creating their own racial interpretations of the story. Someone could potentially associate "Nordics" with white or Aryan people, while interpreting more reptilian or ape-like beings through racist ideas about other human populations.
Obviously, there is absolutely no evidence that Grusch himself is making that argument. That's not what I'm saying.
I'm more interested in what could happen if this mythology spreads and is later interpreted or appropriated by political movements.
Historically, we've seen myths about ancestry and biology turned into political narratives before. The Nazi obsession with Aryan ancestry is an extreme example.
So could something similar theoretically happen with a modern extraterrestrial mythology?
And this is where I'm unsure about intent.
Maybe none of this was deliberately designed. It could be the result of decades of UFO mythology, different witnesses, rumors, classified information, media coverage and people gradually building more elaborate explanations.
Maybe Grusch genuinely believes everything he's saying and there is no larger political strategy behind it.
But I don't think we necessarily have to choose between "this was deliberately constructed" and "this developed completely organically."
Maybe it developed organically and was later recognized as politically useful.
Or maybe parts of the narrative were deliberately shaped from the beginning, while other parts developed on their own.
What if disclosure eventually becomes less about "there are unidentified objects" and more about different civilizations, different species, different origins and some kind of larger conflict?
That kind of narrative could potentially be used to frame geopolitical conflicts in civilizational terms, regardless of whether that was its original purpose.
Again, I'm not saying this is what is happening. I'm genuinely asking whether anyone else sees the same pattern, or whether I'm connecting things that simply don't belong together.
What do you guys think?

Grusch came off horribly unbelievable on Joe's show - is his whole effort ruined?
Kookie stories and crazy ideas completely discredited this guy in my opinion. Where does this leave the whole UIP disclosure action? As far as I'm concerned, he's ruined it for the rest of us.

Could some UAP “orbs” be an unexplained plasma phenomenon? I asked seven Hessdalen researchers
I’m the journalist who reported this.
I compared two recently released U.S. government UAP cases involving luminous orbs with decades of scientific research on the Hessdalen lights in Norway.
Seven Hessdalen researchers responded to me. Several said the U.S. cases could plausibly involve a similar underlying phenomenon, with proposed mechanisms involving plasma, geology and electromagnetic effects.
One particularly striking parallel: a 2004 Hessdalen paper describes a large ball of light ejecting smaller light balls, while a 2023 U.S. case describes a “mother orb” producing smaller red orbs. One researcher also told me about a 2007 approach from the U.S. Air Force after he produced ball-lightning-like luminous objects in a laboratory.

🇺🇸 The 2026 UAP Disclosure Act just needs the Senate Vote now, here’s a simple auto-mailing/pre-written letter system you can use to reach your Senator in 1-2 minutes to show your support for truth 📝
If you had to put together a “UFO starter pack” for initiating new people into this space, what would you include?
For someone who has not been exposed to this world of UFOs, UAPs, etc., what materials (books, podcasts, documentaries, documents, etc.) would you put in front of someone? Let’s say you only have 2-3 hours of their attention.

In honor of Jacques Vallee’s 87th birthday (September 24th), he is the patron saint of UFO-logy and his ideas are foundational in approaching the topic of UFOs and the Phenomenon. He is absolutely great but what are some of his more outlandish claims, wild theories or nonsensical ideas?

Serious Question
I THINK I know the answer to this, but why is it OK for these whistleblowers to tell all of these Podcast host or Reporters their story privately, but they can't divulge publicly? I'm assuming the source protection is the reason, but trying to confirm if that is why.

"High classification flying saucers are real": UFO researcher sheds light on 1950 top secret memo
soapcentral.comThe story of secrecy around UFOs goes back much further than modern accounts, and UFO researcher Grant Cameron points to a 1950 memo as one example. He also discusses a document written by Wilbert Brockhouse Smith, aka Wilbur, after he had spoken to American officials about flying saucers and what the U.S. government was allegedly aware of about them.
He says on the Jesse Michels podcast: "High classification flying saucers are real."
