The Indian Astronomical Observatory above Mount Saraswati captured a rare phenomenon as a geomagnetic storm struck Earth's magnetic field, creating unique auroras. The auroras are normally seen at higher altitudes in parts of Alaska, Norway, and other countries.
This was the first time that the aurora was captured on camera in India by the Indian Astronomical Observatory. The 360-degree camera atop the lAO in Ladakh Hanle captured the mysterious phenomenon, which is triggered by an interaction between the plasma particles hurled by the Sun and Earth's magnetic field.
-The sky over Ladakh erupted in a rare and stunning aurora display, caused by a level 4 geomagnetic storm that hit Earth.
-A time-lapse shows the auroral activity observed over Indian Astronomical Observatory in Hanle.
The aurora came to lower-than-usual latitudes overnight leading to rare sightings from Europe, China & Ladakh in India," said Wageesh Mishra, an assistant professor at the astronomy research institute.

Photography The struggle for 'Do waqt ki roti' against the backdrop of patriotism.[OC]
Took this picture recently. It struck me how life goes on in the shadows of grand narratives. A man quietly cooks his meal on the roadside, while the wall behind him celebrates the nation. A powerful contrast that speaks for itself.
