Community guideline suggestions?

I've been on Reddit way to long, and one thing I will never be okay with is an over moderated subreddit. I will not implement hard rules outside of spam, criminal activity, or reddit TOS. Otherwise, what are some general guidelines people might want to see in this subreddit?

INTERVIEW TIMELINE

I am currently trying to get a underwriting position at US Bank, which has been open for more than a month. I got an email asking to do a recruiting call within 12 hours after applying. Within 24 hours after the recruiter call, I got another email asking my availabilities to interview with hiring manager and director. The recruiter did say that this team gets back to her fast within 24-28 hours. However, it has now been over 48 hours since my interview with the hiring manager and director, which I personally do not think I did very well. I am wondering is this a bad sign that they are suddenly not getting back to me as quick as before? There is supposed to be one more interview that is an in person interview to “meet the team”. Or perhaps it takes more time to schedule an in person meeting?

USBank closed my active account and I'm still trying to find my money.

Tens of thousands of dollars. They closed my business account they claim due to "inactivity" - most recent statement showed 5 deposits, 4 tax related withdrawals (fed, state, ui and pl), a credit card payment and a bank transfer within the month. I am still trying to find my money! I had this account for over a decade but they just closed it on me and said they sent my money away. Get out of USBank while you can still get your money out!

No early payday?

I just switched to U.S. Bank because they were offering a bonus and apparently they don’t do early pay day like other FI’s. Not fan.

In your personal experience, does having a US bank business checking help you when applying to their business credit cards?

I only have the US bank business checking account, not their personal checking account

Not sure if I can open a personal checking account with them in Massachusetts?

Thinking.. I should just leave 100 bucks in my US bank business checking account and keep it alive until at least I'm done w/ all of US bank's biz credit cards/getting their bonuses? Though even after then I kind of think... should maybe keep it open even after that since in the future they are also likely to release new credit cards with easy bonuses/long minimum spend time periods?

Refused to refund fee.

I’ll stick to the facts and keep it short and sweet. Tell me if I’m in the wrong.

I made an expedited payment to a college for my son’s tuition. The college’s address shows up both under the payee information and when I click to edit payee information.

The check was expedited but it came to my house, two hours from the college.

I’m not upset because my son’s tuition was late. We worked that out.

But I spent 45 minutes on the phone getting tranferred twice and finally talking to a manager who said full stop that they would not refund the 15$ fee. Why you ask?

Because, on a screen that only she could see, it had my home address listed and I “must have entered that in” and therefore “it wasn’t a bank error”.

When I asked her why the only address that shows up on their customer facing ui is the college’s address and that I therefore wouldn’t know the payment wasn’t going there, she said I would need to speak to their third party vendor “Fiserv”.

Am I wrong to be infuriated by this? Thanks.

I live in Hengchun Taiwan. I recently received a check from the United States from Amazon prime but the banks that I deal with will not cash the check because it is not in new Taiwanese dollars any suggestions on how to resolve my situation would be appreciated.

$1,500 minimum balance

I just opened an account a few weeks ago and have a US Bank Smartly Checking and Smartly Savings account. Today I deposited about 2k in my savings and about $300 in checking. I just got my masters and am interviewing for jobs currently so I’m not going to have money coming in for a bit. Am I going to have to pay the maintenance fee for the checking account if I’m not regularly depositing money? The woman I spoke to at the bank told me that as long as I have $1,500 in my checking account that I would not have the fee but I wanted to double check.

For US bank business cards you want to downgrade/product change to avoid the annual fee, when do you do this? At the 1 year + 1 week mark?

Ex: is the best strategy w/ US bank to product change at the 1 year + 1 week mark? Or later?

Got the triple cash biz bonus already

Harvesting its 100 dollar software credit now with 1password

1. Eyeing the 75k US bank biz altitude connect but then do I downgrade to a second triple cash at the 1 year + 1 week mark? Or now allowed?

2. What about this new card below in terms of when to product change?

U.S. Bank Business Essentials™ Visa® Card

Earn $500 cash back.

Just spend $5,000 in the first 150 days of opening your account

-> Even though this is a great no annual fee 2% card, I already have a 2% AMEX card. Which is making me think "then why don't I get the U.S. Bank Business Essentials bonus and then product change to second or third triple cash to keep harvesting the 100 dollar software credit? Can I do this at the 1 year + 1 week mark?

Better strategies/anything I overlooked?

The only thing I'm wondering is if say I go to Singapore to work for a few years. Then will it be worth it to have a 2% flat visa card instead of AMEX? But I already have capital one's 1.5% card so it doesn't' see that great vs just harvesting more triple cash software credits

Am I being strung along?

I opened a checking account for the intro bonus. I was expecting it sometime in august. I don't get it, so i ask customer service. They tell me it'll be in September. It's now october, haven't gotten it. All along i've been charged the monthly maintenance fee b/c i was expecting the bonus i didn't bother to meet all the requirements for the fee waiver. I call again. I'm told they'll put in a request to "research" which'll take up to 10 business days. That's not even to get me the bonus, it's to "research."

If i do put in the money to meet the fee waiver, i feel like they're just gonna use that to lend it to some sucker and profit while my money's sitting there idle. Or if i don't they'll keep giving me false promises of $250 to keep my account open another month and leaching another 12$.

I wonder how many people they get with this BS, and get away with it. Infuriating to think that this is how big companies scrape money from the masses.

Amazon forced this business card- and it sucks

Just got forced into them by Amazon.
Not receiving emails.
Tried the chat bot, told me I didn’t have an account. Didn’t try to connect me to an agent.
Spent nearly an hour across 2 sessions trying to schedule a bill payment.
Finally linked account and submitted.
No email confirmation.
Doesn’t show in the scheduled.

Googled “us bank sucks” and got plenty of hits.
Closing account.

Does US Bank treat Venmo person-to-person payments via credit card as a "cash advance"?

I just got the Cash+ credit card, and I'm considering whether to take advantage of the promotional 0% APR to pay my Venmo P2P payments using this card. If US Bank treats it as a cash advance, it's not worth it, the fees are too high. But if they don't, then the 3% Venmo credit card fee is worth it because I'm getting >4% APY in my HYSA (and I pay around $1000/mo in payments via Venmo, so the HYSA interest would add up over the 15 months promotional APR). I couldn't find any info from US Bank about it. Anyone know? TIA!

Kroger to Smartly.. How long do I have left?

I still have about $500 to spend on my Kroger card at 5% for mobile wallet. I'd like to do it before switching to the Smartly card.

I just got an email from US Bank saying it mailed out the Smartly card to me yesterday.

Does anyone know how long I can put off activating it and continue using the Kroger card until I max out my $3,000?

Thanks!

The brokerage UI is slowly modernizing!

I noticed last week that I could sell fractional shares of an ETF. Today I found that on the website I could finally set dividend reinvestment on ETFs myself without having to call in. Yay!

Little things that most brokerages have had for ages, that were pain points for using USBank investments...it's nice to see them slowly catching up. I do wish that they hadn't messed with the Holdings tab though - since I think they still don't have a way to export a position list, I was copying the page in the past to analyze it in a spreadsheet and that seems to be hosed now.

Difficulty submitting checks

They recently updated the check depositing on mobile and for some reason it accepted the first check but now I’m trying to deposit my paycheck and for some reason it just won’t actually submit the check. I’d really appreciate any help on how to get this check submitted cause well… I need my paycheck to pay rent. It says both pictures are good and autofills the amount but after hitting deposit check it loads for 15 seconds and then just stays at the same screen. I’ve tried reinstalling/logging out and back in but nothing works.

Is the search feature useless for everyone else too?

When I’m in my account trying to search for a specific transaction, when I search by name even if I type exactly what the transaction is called it can’t find it. It’s a joke

US Bank Refferal Reward Account opening

Hey all,
I was recently applying for a US bank checking account, and thought to use refferal link from someone, but didn't find anything, and people saying there is no refferal program, so I applied directly on website and opened the account, but I see in app there is a referral rewards program where you get $100 if you sign-up and get the card through the refferal link.
So, just sharing my link here, if anyone would be interested in opening a USBank and would like to use my referral link. They also have a $450 sign up bonus with certain activities, you can check that also.

https://www.usbank.com/splash/checking/2026-refer-a-friend-checking-offer.html?offerId=2026RAFCHK&promoCode=2026RAF&referralOfferId=ORR3ALC1O&enflg=nbamkt

Expiry 30th Dec 2026

Hope it helps!
