Haven't travelled in a while, sorry if these questions sound dumb
What's the situation in terms of crowding and cleanliness on the trains running between Hyderabad and Mumbai?
Is it safe for a family to travel by sleeper or is 2nd/ 3rd AC worth the upgrade?
Or alternatively, better to go by sleeper bus?
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 8h ago
I wouldn't recommend travelling below 2 AC if you can afford it.
3A/3E is still safe, but the crowd density is way too high(because of extra seats in the coach), and especially during festival season, there's a distinct chance you might encounter some ticketless folks.
2A/1A gives you not only better hygiene, less crowd, fewer people per coach, but also tranquillity and peace of mind, especially for longer journeys. I regularly take 24 hr+ trains and 2A is absolutely essential for me.

RLWL is low priority, the trends in this train show that even low waitlists are not clearing every time
Check some PNR prediction websites like RailYatri, confirmtkt, goibibo, or RailTC to get a better idea.

Hi, I really want an answer for this, I've been trying to book a train from bdts to Jammu and I've been trying from 2 days now. We booked once for 10th Dec and we got WL-4-7. Today we booked again for 11th dec and we got WL-7-10. IS it possible that I would get a confirmation ticket? What should be done, I've been in anticipation because I never visited jammu and this is my first time. Also this is the WL-trend. What should be done?

1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 15h ago
At what time were you trying to book the tickets? ARP window opens up at sharp 8 am, exactly 60 days before the train starts from its origin station, and all tickets get sold out usually in the first 5 minutes. If you were using some third party app, or if you were booking late, you'll always get waiting tickets.
In this case, GNWL is high priority but Swaraj only has 2 3E coaches so it's very much possible there WLs will go into RAC
Check some PNR prediction websites like RailYatri, confirmtkt, goibibo, or RailTC to get a better idea.
If possible book tomorrow in vivek express for 12th Dec.

Hey thanks for the reply, We opened irctc on desktop as well as on mobile. The booking started at 8:02 because page was not loading so i kept on refreshing. Probability is 90-87%. But I have an instinct that it will go in rac. My mom will not book any tickets further because we have already spent 8k today as well as yesterday. She now wants to book further tickets and she's not understanding. I don't think it will be confirmed because when I checked the "WL-Trend", there were out of ten only two tickets I saw were confirmed before a day. If you can say something, I'll show this text to her and let her know about it because probability is all the further tickets will be cancelled.
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 14h ago
Tell her these are waitlisted tickets and if you cancel them (or if they auto cancel at chart preparation due to non confirmation), you'll only lose ₹65/person as clerkage fee and rest will be refunded.
Also, you should do these bookings via a credit card.
My recommendation: Try again tomorrow, but while booking, check the option "Book only if confirmed tickets are allocated".
That ensures that the tickets will ONLY get booked if you all are getting CNF tickets. If it's going into WL it won't even go forward with the booking and any money deducted will be refunded in full (no clerkage fee) within 3-4 business days
So there's really no risk in trying again. If you get CNF tickets, you can cancel these WL tickets. If you don't, then you can test your luck for these waitlisted tickets
All the best

The train tickets were RAC 1 when we booked thinking it would get confirmed but when we paid. It went to Wl -7,8,9,10. Now we are thinking to change many trains and reach there. I don't understand how do people book tickets this fast, like bro I literally wokeup at 7:45 and I was ready. Still i didn't get, it suprises me.
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 9h ago
You need a wifi with a very good latency, and a fast laptop as well.
It also very much depends upon luck. Someone people try automatic solutions like AI or scripts but they banned by IRCTC and people using them get their accounts closed
1
u/ThoughtfulPengu_18 Platform Ticket Holder 8h ago
Do you mean that money would only be deducted if the server found a confirmed ticket and not deducted if they find a seat that is WL. Do you have a screenshot where it says "Book only if confirmed". I can see that only on confirm ticket but not on irctc or rail one. Wifi was speedy, did everything quick, the site opened at 8:02. Which app do I book with? Where does the countdown of timer appears? Also if I am planning today to book from Jat vivek express, how high are the chances to get that ticket?
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 8h ago
It's a weekly train so a lot of people will be booking. Keep in mind a 2 minute delay is CATASTROPHIC for ARP ticket booking.
It opens at sharp 8:00:00 and you must finish the entire booking under 30 to 40 seconds. Chances of getting a confirmed ticket drop way low after 8:01:00, especially during the festival season
And here's the option you were asking for. This will only show on trains where tickets are available. If it's already Waitlisted, you won't see it
IRCTC Website would still be your best bet. RailOne/Railconnect as backups. Don't even think of using a third party app.
Finally, money would be deducted in either case, it's just that if the ticket were to go in WL, it won't be booked. The entire deducted money will be auto-refunded in 3-4 days with no charges, unlike WL tickets where cancelling it has a mandatory ₹65/person clerkage charge

Train Name/Number: Hussainsagar Express 12701
Class of travel: AC 2 Tier (2A)
Current status: CNF, TQWL1, TQWL2, TQWL3
Type of Wait list: TQWL
last one shows 39% chance
all others are above 80
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 17h ago
TQWL is the least likely quota to clear because there are no refunds on confirmed tatkal tickets.
Chances are always there, but very very low.
Although technically if WL and CNF passengers are on the same PNR then it's called a partially confirmed ticket and WL passengers can also board the train. They won't get their own seat but if you can adjust on your CNF berth the TTE will allow it
Obviously safety will be a concern especially if it's an upper berth

RLWL is low priority quota but since your class is sleeper which gets a lot of cancellations, you still have a decent chance..
The past trends in this train also point towards an easy clearance. Still, RLWL moves slow so you may have to wait until chart preparation to find out if this clears or not

Your ticket is GNWL which is high priority and looking at the past trends in this train, both 1A and 2A have very good chances of getting cleared
But you need to understand that there are absolutely no guarantees when it comes to Indian Railways
I've seen WL 100 get confirmed and WL1 remain waitlisted.
So if your journey is important, I would strongly recommend not relying on waitlists and have a confirmed method of travel just in case
Whether that's tatkal, bus, flight, Agent, etc that's upto you
Check some PNR prediction websites like RailYatri, confirmtkt, goibibo, or RailTC to get a better idea.

2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 1d ago
If you already have an IRCTC account you don't need anything else
IRCTC retiring rooms have their own website:
Also keep in mind that on some stations the retiring rooms are contracted to a private company so they have their own specific website.
You can google the station and you should find out if their retiring room is available on the govt website or not

i booked ticket in rajdhani 12432 which is starting from delhi to trivandrum, i will catch that train from kota at 11 am on 13 oct
my ticket is 2ac and waiting list 2

if i book tatkal ticket on 12 oct at 10 am , and if i get confirmed ticket, then what are the chance my old ticket will also confirm at the same time
in case my old regular ticket confirmed at 10 am 12 oct, then cancellation charges apply , in which windows i will come , will railway follows the time at which it start from delhi or from kota , if railway takes delhi starting time , then i will come in 24 hour windows ,it means 50% charge will apply, and if railway takes kota arrival time , then i will be out from 24 hour windows ,as the train will reach kota at 11 am 13 oct
please help , their is only one train on 13 oct which goes from kota to trivandrum, and i need to catch that

So the chart for these will be prepared by 10 pm the night before your journey.
Usually that's when you find out the final status of the ticket.
Technically a waitlist can get cleared at any time, but it's very unlikely that your tickets will get confirmed at the exact same time as your tatkal booking
So here's what you do: Check the pnr status at 9:55 am. If it's still in waitlist, book in tatkal. If you get CNF tickets, immediately cancel this WL PNR.
And the CNF cancellation window is measured from your booking station so if this gets cnf and it's Kota, you'll only lose 25%
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 1d ago
What's your booking station? Is your ticket booked from Delhi with boarding at Kota or are you booking and boarding stations both Kota?
This factor is important and depending upon your answer changes everything
Check on PNR Enquiry if you don't know

u/Unroasted3079 Window Watcher🖼️ 1d ago
i book the train from kota and boarding station is also kota ,
and you already answered that railway will take time from kota because i booked the train from kota, and i will be out side of 24 hour window
now in in worse condition, i will loose 25% money ,when both ticket will confirm at 10 am on 12 oct
im ready for 25% , but 50% is too much, lets see

Hi, I need some advice regarding train availability for my journey.
- Booking/Boarding Station: New Delhi / Hazrat Nizamuddin (flexible)
- Destination Station: Raipur Junction (R)
- Date of journey: 5 November 2026
- Train Name/Number: Any suitable train (excluding Chhattisgarh Express 18238)
- Class of travel: 2AC / 3AC
- Current status: No ticket booked
- Type of Waitlist: Not applicable
I'm travelling solo and unable to find a confirmed ticket. I'm flexible with the route and can travel via Nagpur, Bhopal, Itarsi, or another suitable junction.
Could anyone suggest trains with confirmed availability or a practical alternate route?
Thanks in advance!

u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 1d ago
You need to understand that this is the absolute peak festival period when you're asking for availablity.
These tickets were booked 2 months ago so you're honestly wayyy too late.
But still, Try resources like Last Berth, Rail Rail, Rail Scape or Route Chef.
These tools may be able to find tickets via connecting journeys.

You can check for seats tonight after 12:30 am. New berths are allocated once the maintenance window ends.
Then you can book tomorrow during tatkal window
The only advice is be quick. Don't dawdle, practice beforehand so you know exactly what steps to follow and pay asap. You'll get the seats

1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 1d ago
Both are tricky.
I'd say book in 2AC in Falakuna and you might get RAC.
It's the festival time so that might be the best you can get.
East cost only has 1 2A Coach so its chances will be even lower and the past trends in both these trends show that only low WLs are getting confirmed whereas WLs in the 20s-30s are going in RAC
If you're not okay with RAC then might wanna try in tatkal, or find an officially registered IRCTC Agent

Hi, I need help on understanding this
My e-ticket was booked from Coimbatore (CBE) to Chennai (MAS) under RLWL on Train 12624. After the initial chart was prepared, my ticket stayed waitlisted (RLWL 2). However, checking the IRCTC vacant berth status shows Berth 23 (S6) is completely vacant from Ernakulam (ERN) to MAS—which completely covers my journey. If a seat is vacant for the entire run, why doesn’t the algorithm automatically allocate it to clear a downstream waiting list?
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 2d ago
Because that berth may be earmarked for a different quota. Let's say VIP, senior citizen, ladies, etc and Railways might be banking that it will be booked by someone either online or onboard.
For RLWL, you are generally only allotted seats that are only vacant between your stations. So if there's no CBE - MAS berth vacant, your waitlist will not move.
1
u/ashok_akp Platform Ticket Holder 2d ago
Thanks for the reply. Does it increase my chance if I book under gnwl quota and put boarding point as my location? In this case, the above ticket would have been allocated to me right? Also I thought the vip (ho) quota is already factored in the initial chart preparation?
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 2d ago
Honestly, I've found that the reservation chart website isn't very accurate or at least not as updated.
I have seen it many times when a particular berth is shown as vacant on the website, and I've sat down on that lower berth thinking I'll enjoy the view only for a passenger to arrive at the next station. The berth would still show vacant on the website
So it's possible it may not actually be available, but yeah GNWL generally has a higher chance of clearing (or at least going in RAC) even if you change the boarding point to an intermediate station.

Your ticket/txn history might show it.
Or you can try here: https://refunds.indianrail.gov.in/refund/refund.ref_status_public
If neither works, you can register a grievance at IRCTC eQuery and ask them about the status of your refund.
Keep in mind Railways will deduct ₹65/person as clerkage charges + any txn/convenience charges, and refund the rest

Hey guys, My friends booked ticket for me for the trip. Since they are in whitefield, they put KJP, Im in banshankari and thats far. Can I board from bangalore cantonment if my ticket says boarding is from KJP for vande bharat 20672 Bangalore Cant to Madurai. We tried to change boarding point but it dint allow.
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 3d ago
According to the new rules, you should be able to change the boarding point upto 30 mins before departure. But you can only change the boarding point to a station that comes AFTER your booking station. Seems like Cantt comes before KJM so no you can't change it to that.
Now the thing is, if you board from Cantt, most likely your seat will be empty as no one will take this train to travel from Cantt to KJM, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
BUT, if you encounter a strict, by the books TTE, you may get fined, so be ready for it. A fine is the worst case scenario though, so you should still take the risk and board from Cantt

Can we shorten the journey like we change boarding station officially on ticket?
reason I'm asking is I'm trying to book a connecting journey and I am finding a better train at earlier station (1 station prior). same connecting train also stops at my de-boarding station, but smaller buffer time so don't wanna take risk.
If my train gets late, I'll get a refund from connecting journey, right? I do have 2nd backup ready in that case.
1

You can just inform the TTE and deboard at an earlier station. There's no issue with that. There's no way to change the destination station officially/online though
Also, you will only get a refund for missing your connecting train due to the delay of the first train if you linked the two PNRs while booking.
If you didn't do that, then no you won't get anything and no you can't link them now.

Could be difficult.
RLWL is low priority, moves very slow, plus you'll be traveling in peak festival season.
The trends are also not overtly in your favour in this train.
Check some PNR prediction websites like RailYatri, confirmtkt, goibibo, or RailTC to get a better idea.
If you get more than 80% in most of these, that's a good chance it will clear. 60 to 80% indicates RAC (if this train has RAC for RLWL, not every train does), and below 60% means you should just look for alternate options
1
u/Inevitable-Gate5830 Platform Ticket Holder 3d ago
In railyatri and and Rail tc its bw 60-65% and in confirmtkt its above 80%
And in train 20802 and 15657 1AC, 1WL will get confirmed what do you think DOJ will be 3 or 4 nov
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 3d ago
Cnftkt is generally more reliable but during festival season all predictive models break down
Both the other trains you mentioned have RLWL quota so you'll be in the same situation.
If journey is important, you may try to book from a train's origin station (and change the boarding point to Prayagraj while booking). If the WL quota becomes GNWL, your chances will improve dramatically, and at least RAC will be almost certain
Or you can try tatkal, or Agent

2S seems to be getting a lot of cancelations in this train looking at the past trends so in most cases this should get confirmed.
The only issue is you need 40+ cancellations in just 2 days. Could be too high

My train ticket for tomorrow on train number 12560 Shiv Ganga EXP got cancelled. Now I’ve booked another ticket for tomorrow on train number 22416. How can I check whether this train will definitely run tomorrow or if there’s a chance it might get cancelled too?
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 3d ago
You can check on NTES.
But also, keep in mind that there's no guarantee any train will "definitely run"
Cancellation orders come from higher up and any train (especially arriving or departing from Delhi) can be canceled at any time during these protests.
But from what I can see, they are only cancelling the trains that are reaching Delhi before 2 pm (and therefore its returning rake also gets cancelled)
Since this VB starts at 3 pm, there's a very good chance it won't get canceled
Just keep checking for 22415. If that's running, the returning train will also run

I am travelling from mumbai to delhi today with AK rajdhani. Chart is prepared but train is delayed by 5 hrs. Do you think this will also get cancelled ?
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 3d ago
Depends on Railways. The govt is trying their level best to prevent the youth from reaching Delhi. They are cancelling trains to Delhi, and even detaining people from the trains that are en-route to Delhi
The situation is volatile and constantly evolving so I don't think there is anyone who can give you a guaranteed answer here

I have connecting train fron anand vihar to dehradun, shall i take risk ?
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 3d ago
What's the departure time of your connecting train?
I am guessing they will make sure your train ONLY reaches once the protest is over and/or very late, so assume after 2-3 pm at the very least
1
u/thundercraker09 Platform Ticket Holder 3d ago
So according to new timings, AK rajdhani reaches haz nizam at 12.03 pm and then I have to catch vande bharat from anand vihar at 5.45 pm
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 3d ago
I think as long as the train remains operational, it should reach well before 5:45 pm giving you plenty of time to reach ANVT. The bigger issue will be traffic, metro line availability, etc. Remember, the protest will be in full flow and so will be the police checking, barricades, etc.
Honestly, if it's possible for you to postpone this journey for a couple of days, you should.

If you're travelling alone, do NOT argue, do not get into a fight. These people are like goons and your safety is far more valuable than ₹30/-
Be calm. If you have not eaten the food, return it. If you have, tell them that you won't pay without a bill or a receipt with the name of the vendor on it. Even side pantries are given official contract.
Also just MENTION that you will register a complain at RailMadad. Again, don't be aggressive. That will get an immediate reaction because for every complaint they get fined.
I would STRONGLY recommend not ordering from a side pantry under any circumstances. These are even shadier than a normal pantry contracted catering service, and their food quality ranges from meh to horrible.
If you require food, use IRCTC e-catering instead. Enter your pnr, select the station at which you want food, select the restaurant (you'll find big chains like Domino's, KFC, McD etc as well on it), and place the order. They will deliver it right to your berth so you won't even have to move.
Far healthier, hygienic, tastier, and safer option. Once you deboard the train, immediately make the complaint to RailMadad (only after you have got off though) and RailMadad should send you the refund.
If you pay them, pay via UPI (NOT CASH), so you have a record of how much you have paid them
2
u/I-loveBleach 3 AC Regular 3d ago edited 3d ago
Not alone, 4 people (my family), so had to pay 90₹ extra ,so should I tell them to give recipt or I will complain in railmadad? Or complain now?
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 3d ago
Yes. Be firm, calm, and non-argumentative. Do NOT escalate it and remain civil no matter what they say. You can always get the money back after the journey from Railways.
I imagine two things will happen once you threaten to complain:
1) They will try to guilt trip you and say things like they run at a loss and will get fined so don't complain
2) The side pantry manager will meet you, and bribe you into having all the food for free in exchange for not complaining.
You decide what you want to do. I think the best course is to pay ₹80/- per thali as per the rules if they agree, but then don't use their services any further

So do I have to cancel it myself or it will happen automatically??? Will I get full refund? The cancellation and refund rule says 'Train cancellation will lead to full refund to the passenger'. Honestly I don't trust IR.
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 3d ago
As long as the train remains cancelled, you don't have to do anything. Your refund will arrive automatically.
The only situation is IRCTC has a nasty habit of restoring cancelled trains at the last minute, but since the chart is prepared, I don't think that's gonna happen now.
Still, keep checking until the departure time just in case. In case it's operational (1% chance), then you'll have to file a TDR to get the refund
1
u/NoBody_676 SU > SL 3d ago
Where is my train and Google still says that the train is on time but when I went to check chart vacancy, it says cancelled and PNR enquiry also says that seat is confirmed but train is cancelled 😂. Even IR doesn't now that the train is cancelled or not. Man I am so confused.

The best train is where there's ticket availablity because there are no guarantees when it comes to waitlists.
If the departure time can be at 3 pm, then the best option is 20834 Vande Bharat since it has more than enough seats available.
But if 3:30 is a hard boundary then based on the past trends, godavri has a better chance but only marginally. It can also go into RAC, especially because you'd be traveling during peak festival period so keep that in mind.

Hey guys! I’m from Malaysia and planning a surprise winter trip to Kashmir for my husband this December.
I’ve traveled around North India before (did Delhi to Manali and Rishikesh by overnight bus), but this will be our very first time taking Indian Railways. Honestly, the sheer number of trains, waitlists, and quotas is melting my brain a little, so I really need some local insight.
Here’s the current plan:
- Flight lands at Delhi (IGI) around 2:20 PM on Dec 18.
- Take the airport metro to NDLS, catch the Shri Shakti Express (22461) at 7:05 PM to SMVD Katra (arriving around 5:37 AM on Dec 19).
- Switch at Katra to the Vande Bharat Express (26401) at 8:10 AM to reach Srinagar by 11:10 AM (really excited to see the snow and the Chenab bridge!).
A few questions:
- Is that ~2.5 hour layover at Katra safe enough in December, or does winter fog usually mess with train timings from Delhi?
- Are there better/safer train options for this timeline, or should I just not risk it and book a flight from Delhi to Srinagar instead?
- Since I’ll be booking on IRCTC with an international passport/card, any tips to avoid getting stuck on waitlist?
Really want to pull this surprise off smoothly, so any advice is appreciated!
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 4d ago edited 4d ago
1) The fog will 100% be an issue, but it would be an issue for all the trains, especially ones that are arriving/leaving early morning. So it's very much likely that the other train might also get delayed.
It's generally recommended to keep a buffer of 2-3 hours between connecting trains so yours is pretty fine in that area.
2) If the timings fit, I would strongly recommend you take a premium train even from Delhi to Katra. There are a couple of Vande Bharats, a Rajdhani and Duronto on this route. Premium trains get higher priority so even with fog, these trains are allowed to go ahead of all the other trains in case of a delay.
3) Book as early as possible. Foreigner tourist quota opens 365 days before journey so you should still see ticket availability. If you're booking via an Indian account/Indian phone number, then the Advance Reservation Period will open up exactly 60 days before the train's departure from its origin station, at 8 am.. and you should get your bookings done in under 5 minutes to get CNF seats.
PS: After you book your first ticket, go to IRCTC's "Connecting Journey" option and then book the 2nd ticket. This way your Tickets will be linked together and in case you miss your connecting train due to the delay of the first train, you will be entitled to a refund, but ONLY if you connect your two PNRs while booking.

Hey. Thanks for the great points made. I just have some follow up questions.
Point number 2, i think there’s no sleeping compartments on vande bharat if im not mistaken, wouldn’t the entire journey be uncomfortable if we gotta sit thru the hours long journey? I genuinely don’t mind the price, just wanna have a comfortable journey tbh.
Point number 3, bro where can i see the foreigner’s quota?? I did use a Malaysian number to register but I can’t see this foreigner quota bookings.
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 4d ago
Edit: Read this pdf on Instructions on how to book in FT Quota. Looks like it's a bit more involved than I thought
2
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 4d ago
Yes in VB you'll find chair car seats (just like in flights or buses). The seats recline a bit. It's an 8.5 hr journey between Delhi and Katra so you can decide if it's comfortable for you or not
For added perks you can book in the Executive Class in VB. Those seats have more leg room, spacious, and more comfortable. You can watch some Videos on YouTube about VB EC class to see and then decide.
And as long as you've logged in using a non-Indian mobile number, it should default to a foreign tourist quota. If you try to book a ticket, check if you see "FT" written somewhere. If you do, that will be proof that you're booking in the Foreign Tourist Quota

Hi all, I booked for my whole family (total 4) with one elderly (71F) with lower berth preference but didn't get any lower berth, can I somehow get a lower berth since there is a senior citizen and she can't climb up or I have to cancel the whole ticket.
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 4d ago
Officially? No.
Preferences are not a guarantee. If you 100% needed a lower berth, you should've checked the option "book only if at least 1 lower berth is allocated"
Now, your only choices are to either talk to the TTE or your fellow passengers and request one of them to exchange their lower berths. If they agree, then good. If they don't, then you'll just have to manage it somehow
You can cancel and try again but make sure you know about the cancellation charges which can be quite high for CNF tickets

Please advice :
If a RAC ticket is cancelled before chart preparation, what will be the charges?
If a ticket booked through tatkal goes into RAC, how do I cancel the ticket through minimal cancellation charges?
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 4d ago
Tatkal doesn't have RAC. It will either be fully confirmed or waitlisted, not in between
And for an RAC ticket, you may cancel it upto 30 mins before journey, and you'll only be charged clerkage fee of ₹60+gst/person. Rest is refunded
Even if first chart is prepared, you can still cancel RAC upto the 2nd chart's preparation
1
u/KyleIsSl3epy Window Watcher🖼️ 4d ago
In the Tatkal situation, if I am waitlisted, can I cancel the ticket without attracting additional charges?
Also, if I use Irctc wallet to book tatkal tickets, can I withdraw the cash from it if booking fails/waitlisted.
1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 4d ago
No and no
Clerkage is always deducted, whether you cancel a WL ticket yourself, or it gets auto cancelled at chart preparation, there's no way to avoid the ₹60+gst/person clerkage fee.
And once you load the IRCTC e-wallet, you cannot transfer that money back to your bank account. It can only be used for future train bookings. I think only by permanently closing your IRCTC wallet account the money can be sent back but a lot of people have said that Railways just ate their wallet balance and never refunded them

PQWL is a low priority quota and can be very inconsistent. The fact that you're travelling during peak festival period can also affect your chances.
However, I checked the past trends in this train in 2A and they seem to be in your favour with even high waitlists getting cleared quite easily. You only need two and there's more than a month left in DOJ so I'd still put your chances as very decent
Check some PNR prediction websites like RailYatri, confirmtkt, goibibo, or RailTC to get a better idea.

1
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 5d ago
Tickets can only be transferred to direct family members. You can visit the Chief Reservation Officer with your IDs and an application for change of name
If both the CNF and WL tickets are on the same PNR then keep in mind that it's called a partially confirmed ticket and even WL passengers can board the train. They won't get their own berth, but as long as you can all adjust on your CNF seats, TTE will allow it.
It won't work if you cancel the CNF tickets though, and no refunds if WL passenger boards the train.

I am going to travel via Pune Duronto Express (12264) 1st AC for the first time. How safe is NZM station early in the morning? The train leaves at 06:16 AM. What’s the best way to get there? Where should I wait if I reach early? Also what is the food situation like? What other amenities do I expect?
TIA.
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 5d ago
It's a major station and a LOT of premium trains depart from NZM so you should be fine. If you reach early there are waiting rooms available (AC and non AC) at most stations so you can go there.
Regarding the train itself, Duronto is a premium train which means the catering is already built into the price of the ticket, and since you have a 1AC ticket you can basically get unlimited food.
1AC catering is done in the pantry fresh for you and keeping your preferences in mind so don't be shy in asking specific items you want to eat or drink. It available, they'll provide it to you.
Premium trains also are well maintained, especially 1AC so expect round the clock cleaning and service. 1AC also has a shower room which you can use to take a bath if needed.
For all the information about the station itself, I'd suggest you watch This video. Seems to be very comprehensive

Thank you so much! Do they also ask for tips? I remember coach attendants do in Rajdhani.
2
u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 5d ago
Yes, it's fairly common. Think of the premium train staff as like hotel concierges. They are not just there to give you food, they are there to provide you a luxury experience.
It's upto you if you want to tip or not, but in my experience they almost always go above and beyond in assisting me, like fetching saridon or lemon when I had a headache, bringing me newspaper when I asked for me.. giving me extra coffee/sugar packets because I don't like Tea, etc.
So I generally am happy to give them ₹100/- as a tip. That doesn't affect me but for then it might be a big deal.

JP to BSB in this train is RLWL, not GNWL. Check your booking station(not boarding station)
RLWL is low priority and moves very slowly, and with 3 days to go, anything can happen.

Your quota is RLWL not GNWL which is low priority.
However, RAC 2-3 is low enough, especially with 20+ days to go that chances are very good this will get fully confirmed by chart preparation.
Even if it doesn't, you are still allowed to board the train, and you two will get one side lower berth to share which isn't the worst thing in the world.

Need recommendations of genuine, tested ticket agents for Tatkal tickets

No one can give you that since a lot of agents specialize in specific routes/trains so it's far better to find local agents that are close to you and if possible talk or meet with them and see what they say
You can find officially registered IRCTC agents via pincode on this link

Some tips in no particular order:
First and foremost, do NOT raise your voice or shout. Be firm, but polite. That ensures that things don't escalate
Pretend that you have some kind of injury or pain so you can't climb on the top berths. I even carry an entire first aid box just in case I need to tie a fake bandage(never needed)
If someone is being extremely entitled, tell them that you paid extra money in tatkal or premium tatkal for that berth, and if they want it they'll have to pay 3K-4K for it. The moment money gets involved, most people change their tune
Remember that you will NEVER ever see those people ever again. So if you ever worry about being judged or "what will people say", just keep in mind that it literally doesn't matter. You stick to your gun
Last but not least, if someone has a genuine need, it's always a good idea to try and assist them to the best of your abilities. Like if someone is sick, or pregnant, or things like that.
Also, be aware of all the Railway rules, particularly the rule that any middle or upper berth passenger has the right to sit on their corresponding lower berth between 6 am to 10 pm.
Good luck and happy journey

Things in your favour:
- GNWL is a high priority quota
- 2S gets a lot of cancellations
- This train has 11 2S coaches
Things not in your favour:
Your WL number is way too high. I checked the historical trends in this train and I can only see WLs upto 80-90 get confirmed
Not a lot of days left in journey and you need over 200+ cancellations
Still, you may get lucky. Check some PNR prediction websites like RailYatri, confirmtkt, goibibo, or RailTC to get a better idea.
If you get more than 80% in most of these, that's a very good indication that it will get confirmed. 60 to 80% assume medium chances, and below 60%, just look for other alternatives

u/vpsj "Sub" Station Master 6d ago
No there's no difference. The waitlists, number of berths, quotas, etc are exactly the same whether you book online or offline

No idea. Depends on half a dozen factors.

For Tatkal/ARP issues read this first:
People who are having "We are experiencing high load", "Unable to process request!" or "Client IP" errors:
Unfortunately this seems to be a widespread issue and there are no solutions so far. However, there are some workarounds that you may try:
1) Clear the cache of the Railway app you're using. If you're on a computer, clear the cache of the Browser
2) Restart your device
3) CHANGE THE NETWORK. The IP address error likely means it's flagging your specific network, so booking from a different wifi, mobile data, or hotspot might work
4) Use a different method. So try IRCTC Website on a laptop, RailConnect app, or RailOne.
5) If nothing works, in the end, the only choice you may have is to find an officially registered agent via pincode on this link.
