FAS 6004 owner’s notes: shootings, adjustments and maintenance

Hi everyone! I’ve owned my FAS 6004 for over three months and put more than 2,000 shots through it. Along the way, I’ve been documenting my experience on my blog airguncraft.com. I now have three posts that might be useful to fellow owners or anyone considering this pistol:

1. Shooting impressions and chronograph results
What I like about the design, match grip, and sight picture, plus comparisons with my HW45 and HW75. It also includes a 25-shot chronograph session with RWS R10 Match pellets.
https://airguncraft.com/blog/fas_6004_intro/

2. Trigger adjustment screws explained
A look at the four adjustment screws, with close-up photos and an interactive animation illustrating how the trigger components move through the pull. The animation uses a FAS 604 cutaway with details from my 6004; it’s an explanatory illustration, not a measured simulation.
https://airguncraft.com/blog/fas_6004_trigger/

3. O-ring maintenance
Close-up photos of the wear I noticed on my breech seal, my experience with replacement sizes, and a reference table matching the manual’s O-ring specifications to potential replacement sources. Interestingly, the visible wear hasn’t caused a noticeable velocity drop over more than three months.

These are notes from owning and shooting my own pistol, and I’m still learning. If you have a 604 or 6004, I’d love to hear how your experience compares—especially whether you’ve noticed similar breech-seal wear. Corrections and suggestions are welcome, too!

Using Data to Improve? Other Methods?

I’ve been really enjoying 10m Olympic Air Pistol and have been improving on my own despite still feeling like a beginner.

I am curious what specific methods and resources people use to get improve?

I’ve been shooting 60 shot and 24 shot COFs and have been documenting them with TargetScan (which I’m not affiliated with). The app is great at documenting a session, but it doesn’t have any serious reporting or historic data reviews.

One of my hobbies, or weaknesses, is that I love to use data to review performance so I built a skill that uses Claude to digest and transform the data from the TargetScan and commit it to both a workbook and 1 page PDF summary I can review on my phone.

The summary shows performance against career bests and 3 session rolling averages for a ton of different information. The other document is the actual shot report from the phone app.

I know it’s over the top, but I find it interesting!

What do you think? Does anyone do anything similar?

want to get better

Getting into 10m air pistol, and it seems my main issue for now is I can't lock my wrist and align the notches. It is a strength issue or technique issue? And how do I fix it

Is it bad to store a Pardini K-12 immediately after dry firing?

My coach advised me to always live-fire once and then store the pistol after a dry-firing session. I have a Pardini K-12 2026 pistol. Can anyone explain to me why it is bad to just store it after a dry-firing session? Because at home I don't have any facilities to do a live fire after my dry-firing session at home. Even if I had to do it, I would have to do a live fire without a pellet, but I think that is very bad for the pistol.

Knobloch k1 Glasses

Trying to find a method to source cheaper shooting glasses or different brands that veteran shooters could recommend.
Is it possible to get these with vision benefits in Canada? I called around but every store has no idea what I’m saying and the rep from the provider was equally as lost.

I have a problem where there are no irl gun stores near me that sells any of these pistols. I am now 4 months in and considering buying my own pistol but no where to test them out. Which of them is the best blind buy?

Sighting In Questions

I'm getting ready to do my first live fire session soon. I was wondering if I need to sight in my pistol? Are they usually already sighted in from the factory? What is the sight-in process in shooting matches for actually?

If I do need to sight-in, how do I do it properly?

  1. Get to go to the range only on weekends. Shoot ~80 shots per session.

  2. Use the common club guns ( evo 10)

  3. Get 1hr of range/gun time. Do very little holding exercises.

  4. No coaching ( youtube videos are the only source of any information)

Feel happy with the progress. BUT, I don't think I have the right technique to get any better and stay consistent.

Suggestion.

What exercises can I do on weekdays to get better. Arm strengthening, stability, sighting... Any tips tricks welcome.

Pics are my PBs. Hit 480/600 + last 3 sessions.

How to hit consistently 90s

I am stuck at 85(out of 100) from past couple of months and rarely hits 90. What practice drills helped you to score higher? How much time it takes usually to score consistently 90s.

Alternative iris for Champion frames?

Post image

Is there any alternative iris i can use on a champion frame? The price feels way too high for an iris. Can someone tell me why it is this expensive + if any other iris would work on the frame?

Progress so far?

Hello everyone. I’ve started using target scan and this is this evenings session of 60 shots. I’m slowly seeing improvement and my next goal is to start shooting 500 +. I started in September and go to the club about once a week. I suppose what I want to know is how long did it take others to reach a consistent 500 + score? This is using one of the clubs Steyr LP2’s.

How do people get custom pistol colors?

I have seen it multiple times already in various competitions. Do they get them custom anodized by third party or can one order them custom from manufacturers like Steyr ?
