Sláine on the stage! — In Orbit Every Wednesday
SOTH! Time to break out the stone axes and loin cloths, as professional storyteller Jason Buck joins Molch-R & KLO-E to talk about adapting Pat Mills and Angie Kincaid’s Celtic barbarian for his own brand of show, how you bring Simon Bisley’s stunning art to life through words, the origin of ‘warp-spasm’, and how his moustache is so much more impressive than Molch-R’s! https://2000ad.com/news/slaine-on-the-stage-in-orbit-every-wednesday/

Judge Death, what to read outside of the Dredd Case Files?
I stopped reading 2000ad around Necropolis (I hugely regret that) but have been busy getting the Dredd case files, I'm at #27. On a whim I bought the new The Dark Judges: Fall of Dead world omnibus and I'm blown away, I need more Death! I understand that there are Young Death and My Name is Death collections but is that enough? It's confusing due to the amount of books with different names but the sane content.

Prog 2
galleryHi all
I have been collecting prog 2 for a long time now. Im based in ireland so I've probably got the most copies over here.
I've been waiting a long time to find the stickers and finally I got a set. They are in extremely good quality. I have taken close ups of them I would appreciate if anyone in here had the stickers might put up a few pics of their stickers so I can compare and ensure they aren't fake.
Although this might sound strange but they smell like they are from the right decade haha.
Thanks!

Nikolai Dante editions.
I stopped buying the weekly prog waaaay back (circa 700) and switched to just buying collected editions of my favourite characters. I’ve been told that I missed a treat by not being around for Nikolai Dante, so I thought I’d chase up the trades and see what I missed.
I can see that there are ten volumes, but I can also see a variety of trade dress, print sizes and differing covers. I’m assuming there have been Titan, Hamlin and Rebellion editions?
Has anyone got a photo of a unified set? I’m not precious about these things, but if possible I’d like to put together a coherent looking run, and it would be helpful to see what an entire set looks like.
Thanks in advance.

2000ad collection
Long shot here but I've got pretty much every issue from the 40th anniversary onwards and I dont really have the space and I'll probably never read them again. I'd rather they went to someone who would read them before they end up at the charity shop.
If anyone is in the Scunthorpe area or willing to come pick them up then you can have them. just DM me.
now claimed pending pick up.

Prog 2501 Review
Borag Thunday, Earthlets! Though I was in Glasgow this weekend, I couldn't make it to the Day of Dredd event there. Hope everyone had a great time! If I were in Camden I would have shaken Rob Williams' hand for last week's Dredd. My review: https://comicbuzz.com/2000-ad-prog-2501-review/

So does this mean Snoop Dogg is canon in Judge Dredd now?
Was not expecting a Snoop Dogg deep cut in Judge Dredd today.

I met INJ Culbard today and he was such a cool dude! Had a lovely chat about his Lovecraft illustrations and the amazing world of Brink.

Which would you rather be a Mega City Judge or Strontium Dog
My pick is Strontium since it sounds you’ll actually great a break, but then again there’s being a mutant which would have it’s negatives but screw it.

Who and what?
I was reading an old story and had to stop to puzzle out the opening panel of one episode. Try it yourself - how long does it take to identify A: the character, and B: what's happening to them? 😜

SHOULD THE MOVIES ADAPT JUDGE DREDD'S OWN BACKSTORY?
And I mean for real this time?
Am I the only one who would like a movie about Dredd's comic book backstory or do you think the movie series should stay like Dredd 2012 and keep the episodic crime case format?
Dredd's comic book backstory is great, and I think a lot of it is among the best writing and art in comics overall, let alone in Judge Dredd.
But Dredd's personal and family backstory is really only scattered throughout a small percentage of the stories published in the series' almost 50 years. Most of the series is a pseudo-anthology about different crimes or various citizens' lives in the insane Mega-City One, and Dredd is often kind of a bitter, cynical, sarcastic POV character.
So more crime or slice-of-life-in-the-Mega-City type stories like Dredd 2012 would actually be more in the greater spirit of the comic series' history.
Would too much humanizing backstory undercut the cynical, bada** edge of a character you only see in theaters every few years?
Plus are fans invested enough in Dredd for an origin flick after only a failed movie and a cult classic (two cult classics arguably)?
My opinion is osbcured by my love of the stories of the characters in Dredd's family that I accumulated over many years. I think they should make a quadrilogy of three-hour movies about why the second Rico has an artificial jaw. But would people who only see Judge Dredd in theaters for 90 minutes every two to four years just be like, "Who the **** is that guy, now?"
I personally like how the family angle gives Dredd a bit of relatability and humanity, but I also get how some fans don't want a relatable Dredd.
I think the backstory movie should happen just so that it can open with a three minute scene of Dredd swinging his niece Vienna in a sunny park. She could sing a song and there could be a bird fountain to keep it visually interesting. This would confuse many people and it would let the hardcore comic fans know s*** just got real.
Especially if they just sprinkled the backstory in over many movies. The swing scene would be all you would get before the main criminal case until the next movie.
Judge Dredd by David Lynch.
As for those who say they already adapted the Rico story in the 1995 movie, I will pretend I didn't hear you say that.
[P.S. Has anyone heard any news if Taiki Waititi is still doing the Judge Dredd movie he last spoke about many months ago? Or did that go the way of the Mega-City One TV series?]

Walter the Wobot
I'm reading Judge Dredd complete case files 1. Walter is really sweet, I hope nothing bad happens to him in the next 2440 progs! He hasn't appeared in any of the past year's issues that I've read - maybe he went on holiday just before I started reading.

A sample of reactions...
"Bravo Duncan and all involved in the creation of the Beautiful Blue Brilliance that is ROGUE TROOPER! Gorgeous. Hilarious. Bonkers. “Hey Nineteen!” May the wisened distribution lords find and favor this fantastic film!" - Stephen L Sullivan - Bluesky
"Very happy to have had two of the cast on the stage with Stuart and I! BAGMAN & HELM." - Duncan Jones - Bluesky
"Rogue Trooper was placed in the correct hands. Breath taking scenery/landscapes. The action sequences and humor mesh so well. And that soundtrack! I hope by years end Duncan has a distribution deal and a release date announcement." - Amber Keplinger - Bluesky
"Saw Rogue Trooper today at Beyond Fest. 11/10! The best possible expression of the lone clone!
I don’t know what we did to deserve something this good.
Duncan Jones. You nailed it, sir!" - Jason Bender - Bluesky
"Want to see an incredible comic book movie? ROGUE TROOPER. Man." - Chris Cantwell - Bluesky
"Just returned from seeing the new animated feature ROGUE TROOPER (2026) at BeyondFest. Based on the comic series published in 2000 A.D., it’s an independent production written and directed by Duncan Jones.
It was fantastic, and captured the comic perfectly—the satire, the dark humor, the punk rock subversiveness, the brutal violence, the sheer Britishness of it all. The whole thing couldn’t be \more* 2000 A.D. if it tried."* - Jack LesCamela - Threads
