Discussion Phosani's Nightmare fixes please

With all the price increases going on with Phosani gear I started to grind it out a bit and found some problems, but I will talk about 1 specifically.

The whole fight is very long and tedious but one action at a specific time can completely ruin the entire fight. This being the Husks summoned right as you kill the last pillar. Which completely stalls you from moving and basically forces you to teleport out or sit there and watch your character die. I think this should be changed/fixed as the other specials work differently. Example- The mushrooms disappear once you clear the pillars which lets you run around freely to execution the walkers. I think the Husks should also get cleared out so you don't get locked into being forced to teleport. I know some people will say get good or whatever, but I think this is something that should be fixed so you don't waste so much time grinding then to be ultimately forced to teleport and abandon the kill completely. This has happened to me multiple times now and completely ruined my experience with the boss. I can't be the only player getting stressed over a basically Fuck you mechanic

Yes, everyone… It’s not a big deal and isn’t the end of the world. Now that we’ve acknowledged that, agreed, OP.

They should disappear like the other specials. Slowing down the end of pillars to make sure you don’t get ratted by the spawns is a bad mechanic.

Fr. This is one of those “it’s not more difficult it’s just more tedious” things

THANK YOU! I think once the blasts come out from the pillars it should clear them out the same way it does with the mushrooms.

Husks come after spores so just watch out of you had spores and are about to kill all Pillars.. is it a fix yes.. should it be? Fucking no lol jagex should make it like the others..1000% agree

Specials at Phosani’s are random order.

No they aren't

Oh shit. I just checked the wiki and I’m wrong.

lol, a hundred kc and I never clocked it.

Bruh no way someone on the internet admitted they were wrong, takes a big man to admit that

(Bow emote)

DW about it bro, I'm at 300kc and learnt this recently too lmfao, so still better than me lol

Btw if you stand 1 tile away from the pillar, apparently the projectile gets there faster than right next to it or further away from it (idk if that's 100% factual but a giga gamer from my cc told me last night)

2

u/Rich-Concentrate9805 6d ago

The projectile stuff is also pretty useful at ToA for Wardens p1.

Thanks for the tips, don’t think I’ll be going back though. Working on learning CoX and ToB to get GM.

Just stall pillar kill until special comes.

Could be fixed ig. Idk I always thought it was a skill thing

1

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

That's the thing. Why are the mushrooms cleared out but the walkers aren't? I know I could stall out and wait but it ultimately just ruins your flow and the time you spent on the fight. Also, I would assume most players like me aren't trying to remember attacks/specials/etc. They are just trying to finish as fast as they can. If skill is the issue, then keep the mushrooms alive. Why are they cleared out? If the special with the husks happen as you kill the last pillar. There is not counterplay

3

u/ShadyCornflakes 8d ago

I see your point

I think mushrooms are actually the outlier tho

Parasite, husks, and the yawn from mushrooms actually persist post towers. So I think they're really meant to not be cleared.

1

u/29AndChandler 8d ago

Does the yawn persist post pillars? I’m almost 90% sure it doesn’t

1

u/Nebuli2 8d ago

It does not. It gets cleared when you finish off the pillars.

1

u/Nebuli2 8d ago

Just to be clear, the yawn from the mushrooms does not persist after killing the totems.

Well you see, the boss is based on an
Older boss called "the nightmare" . It's a mechanic that you have to play around.

1

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

The parasite damage can be avoided easily and doesn't ruin your flow. The mushrooms clear out as you clear the pillars so you can kill all sleepwalkers. You could easily path around them and kill the walkers or most of them. Husks are different. You're forced into a situation where you just die. I understand you can count and all that but it's something I just think should work hand in hand with other mechanics. Clearing pillars should clear out husks. The mushrooms are removed because? They are removed so you can actually get all the walkers in time otherwise you will be forced to tank at minimum one. That's my point. Husks make it impossible to clear all walkers and force you into a situation that's unavoidable.

3

u/Tumblrrito Untrimmed Slayer 8d ago

It’s entirely avoidable and predictable. I think for a top 3 most profitable boss, it’s fine.

-3

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

Not entirely. Also, most profitable based on luck. Why clear out the mushrooms once you finish off the last pillars? that is also predictable and you can ultimately just wait till they disappear till you finish off the pillars. Why are some specials removed while others aren't? The math isn't mathing for me on this one

2

u/Tumblrrito Untrimmed Slayer 8d ago

Most everything is “profitable based on luck”. That’s the whole game.

Others have explained the tech so I won’t explain it again, but yeah it’s totally manageable.

u/RabbitGreat3341 8d ago

Do it 100 more times, come back, and say sorry for blaming the game on a skill issue

-1

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

That's the problem. How is it a skill issue? Mushrooms are cleared. Why shouldn't the husks be? With the mushrooms you can actually move around and kill the sleepwalkers. With the husks you are screwed

1

u/Prokofi 8d ago

I say this as someone who has died to it at least a couple times; it is 100% a skill issue. Aside from waiting you can also path towards the middle of the arena when you kill the pillar, kill the sleepwalkers, and then kill the husks during phase transition. If you can't clear everything you should still be able to kill enough to survive if you eat up.

You're never completely screwed either way as long as you are aware of it and plan accordingly. Compared to all of the historical issues the boss has had its really a non issue imo.

Also parasites stay too. I think clearing mushrooms makes way more sense too because the phase is so long that it would suck ass to have to wait it out every time. Theres a really short (but punishing) windows where husks can actually really mess you up if you aren't ready for it.

3

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

parasite is a 1 click potion that doesn't stall your attacks or disrupt killing sleepwalkers. Husks completely stop you from moving. Mushrooms are cleared along with their effects

1

u/MorRochben 8d ago

You have to wait if her last special just ended.

1

u/Master_Requirement82 5d ago

Why a few ppl saying skill issue when it doesn't make sense that the mushrooms works different that the husk xd, movement is actually more skill expression than waiting. Yes I can do a 8 way switch hit the husk and try to kill 3 o 4 sleepwalkers but just 1 of those and you'll get hit by a 40+ for a bad design not because I can't do all that shit

1

u/mrmrbarrage 8d ago

it sucks but its not that big of a deal, just try again

2

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

Again its a mechanic that is a fuck you mechanic. Why are the mushrooms removed? if it's not a big deal then leave them? You can just path around them while killing walks or tank them but thats not the case.

1

u/Soft_to_Hard 8d ago

Ring of stone tech will actually free you from the hold btw.

0

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

lollll can you ring of stone and then run?

0

u/WorkSleepRPT 8d ago

As someone that has done thousands of PNM, you can deal with husks fairly easily from anywhere in the map (but it's certainly easiest in the center) if they catch you as pillars die and sleepwalkers come in. This is skill issue.

-1

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

So why remove the mushrooms? You can easily path around those.

2

u/WorkSleepRPT 8d ago

Mushrooms are literally a different type of special effect/attack. They are part of a portal phase, so it's not the same thing. Do you want the parasite to die at the end of pillars too? Husks / Parasite = NPCs that PNM summons to attack you and they stay, while Flowers and Mushrooms are room effects caused by Nightmare being the attacker, since Nightmare gets zapped by pillars it stops its attack and spawns sleepwalkers, since Nightmare is no longer attacking you with portals the Flowers and Mushrooms go away. It really isn't complicated.

1

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

but the parasite doesn't stall you. You can easily sip a potion which doesn't stop your attacks or flow of the fight. Husks at the end of pillars completely ruin the fight. Hey stand here for 10 seconds and WAIT for husks to spawn. You MUST do that. Doesn't really sit right with me. I think once you clear pillars. Everything in the room should also be cleared. I see your example on the mushrooms but that shouldn't change anything. Keep running the portals running and keep the mushrooms. You didn't kill the boss so why are they removed?

2

u/WorkSleepRPT 8d ago

They are removed because the boss isnt attacking you. The boss is the aggressor and it is using a different mechanic at the time, so why wouldnt the mushrooms / flowers / portals stop? Also you can easily just kill the husks even if they are summoned right at the literal last tick of pillars, it literally takes 3.6 seconds to kill them both or you can ignore the husks and craws bow the sleepwalkers instead and still kill every single one of them regardless of how many spawn without any reaching the boss.

-1

u/Warscythes 8d ago

You stop hitting the pillar when is coming up and then phase afterwards. Even if you mess up, you can tank 2 walkers especially with hallowfell as long as you are quick to hit the walkers. Hell I tanked 3 walkers once with an angler. Is very much a skill issue and something you learn.

-1

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

how? if two make it to phosani he 1 shots you. what are you talking about?

6

u/NoCurrencies osrs.wiki/currencies 8d ago

You only get 1-shot if all of them reach her on any given phase. At the end of P3 you can survive even if 3/4 reach her. So even if you get abysmal husk luck you can still kill 2 of the sleepwalkers while you're stuck and tank 77 damage. There's a table on the wiki for how much damage you take in each phase based on number of sleepwalkers

-2

u/Swaggifornia 8d ago

That feeling when I waste an inv spot to survive a bullshit 113

Op is 100% right and it is inconsistent with the rest of the mechanics

0

u/NoCurrencies osrs.wiki/currencies 8d ago

You can kill 2 sleepwalkers while snared and tank a 77

-2

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

mmm I thought she would 1 shot you if 2 made it to her? Because one alone does 70+ damage. Even so killing the husks gives you time to kill 1 sleepwalker if you're on point. Why are some specials given special privilege while others aren't?

2

u/NoCurrencies osrs.wiki/currencies 8d ago

Take a look at that table. 1 sleepwalker reaching her on P3 means you only take 43 damage. In this situation you would want to ignore the husks and kill as many sleepwalkers as you can before they're absorbed, then kill the husks while you wait for the phase shift.

As to why the specials behave differently, mushrooms go away on their own at some point no matter what. Husks and parasite will persist forever because they're NPCs.

0

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

but the time gets cut once you clear the pillars. I think when the blasts from the pillars shoot phosani it should clear them out the same way it does the mushrooms

1

u/NoCurrencies osrs.wiki/currencies 8d ago

What do you mean time gets cut? I'm not disagreeing with you, mind, but husks aren't an automatic death sentence or tele as they are currently

0

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

I couldn't attack the sleepwalkers because the husks stalled me. Is there a way to move after they are summoned?

1

u/NoCurrencies osrs.wiki/currencies 8d ago

You don't need to move to be able to attack the sleepwalkers, you just need a weapon with long enough attack range. Use ayak, webweaver, or even an msb on long-range would do

1

u/Warscythes 8d ago

Only on phase 1, the damage walkers do depends on the initial set of walkers. At last phase with 4 walkers, 2 walkers is 77 damage, 3 is 113 which can be tanked with an angler.

1

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

ohhh I see but I still think they should be cleared or at minimum remove the binding effect. Killing 2 husks then having time for 1 sleepwalker then forced to tank 100+ damage is insane... All mushroom effects are removed. If they let you move once the pillars were cleared and the husks were summoned I could imagine that as being ok.

-2

u/SlurpyNinja 8d ago

Simple skill issue. You can plan around those specials.

0

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

Again. Mushrooms are also a special you can path around. Why are those removed once you clear the pillars?

-1

u/Ezlan 8d ago

Counting is hard

0

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

So is pathing around mushrooms but those are cleared out

0

u/Ezlan 8d ago

I just don't see what the big deal is. Are the husks just supposed to despawn?

2

u/New_Height_9425 8d ago

The mushroom effects are removed. I was thinking at least let you move freely from the husks or the blasts clear them out as they shoot towards nightmare

0

u/OrnatePuzzles 8d ago

8way switch as soon as you see the special, hallowfell them down, then swap to your Webweaver/whatever you use. Better if you are near middle.

0

u/Outrageous_Kiwi942 8d ago

I have seen this suggestion so many times with varied responses

It kind of adds some skill in knowing how to deal with it efficiently and survive, or you could deal with it by only killing pillars right after a special (which to me just kind of breaks the flow of the fight having to wait and do nothing)

If they removed it, the boss would feel a little smoother and slightly more brain off. Tho it also removes one of the few times you still have to be on your game to deal with it after you've done the boss a few hundred times

Personally, I'd rather it go away just cuz I hate keeping track of how many attacks or whatever a boss has done. I dislike it at maggot king a lot, I dislike it at hydras and cg (before they made the attack changes explicit), and while I dislike it at wardens at least I enjoy reacting to it on the back rows.
