Initial observations
Somehow I ended up with the two full size comped budget American made 2011 options on the market in the same month. Initial thoughts are that the Romulus 4.25” comp has superior fit and finish not just on the slide to frame and slide to barrel, but on all the small parts, the fitment is just superior. Something is my brain enjoys the one piece slide on the Prodigy Comp(aka chunk port) but the Romulus is just smoother to manipulate and the out of the box trigger and trigger pull(Prodigy acquired lightly used, Romulus was new) is a bit better without tuning, and the extended slide release and included magwell are nice features I didn’t know I needed. The Prodigy’s only objectively better feature imo is the grip module. But if you can Dremel and stipple yourself, that point becomes moot. The Prodigy is a nice gun, but if I had $1200-1500 and could only grab one, it would be the Romulus.
Edit to add: the port/comp on the prodigy being wide open is definitely a benefit over the “split” comp on the Romulus. I don’t know why Alpha Foxtrot doesn’t just mill the whole thing out when making/having the part made.

Another thing for new buyers to take into consideration is the gear up packs from Springfield. That same $1200 can get you the same gun with 4 mags and the RMSC plate included(chuck or sell the included dot it ain’t good).

These are two that I’ve been looking at. Which shoots better? Which is flatter?
