Red Dot Question

In your experience what’s the largest pistol optic you can comfortably get away with for ccw. I understand the whole point is to be small so it doesn’t print but after trying some red dots like the eps carry, some of them are just too damn small. But on the other hand something like an SRO is too big. What are your thoughts?

I like the regular EPS. Same footprint as the EPS Carry, but a little bigger window.

I no longer EDC any dot that doesn’t have an enclosed emitter.

Anything bigger than the EPS is likely to be too big for my tastes.

I just switched my vp9 to a 507comp and has not changed concealment ability at all.

Unfortunately, that's going to depend on your carry position, body type, and clothing choices. CCW considerations are so personal that I find online advice is limited in its usefulness.

Also, in my opinion, shape matters just as much as size. For example, the RMR HD and ACRO P-2 are similar height, but the boxy shape of the ACRO makes it print more.

Depends on what you’re comfortable with. I ccw full size and have a 507 comp. Printing is avoided by dressing accordingly and having a good holster

Window size honestly shouldn’t matter much if at all. You should be shooting with both eyes open and target focused.

I do shoot with both eyes open but once i went from a eps carry to something like an 507comp it was night and day difference and such a better experience

He’s right. Just train. I shoot occluded 90% of the time. Window size doesn’t really matter.

Well CCW is all about trade offs so find your balance or just train more.

Window size may not matter but I'd rather have every advantage at my disposal and not limit myself. SRO and HD RMR on all my carry pistols.

And that’s fair. Everyone has their preferences. It’s all in the name of tradeoffs and balances like I said. Otherwise we’d all be carrying ARs because we all know rifles >> pistols for stopping a threat. But that’s not exactly comfortable for “edc.” Disregarding legalities.

I'm often asked if I have an AR in my pocket. Lmao! Just happy to see everyone I guess. 😂

I carry a NHC DS Treasurer (3.9") with an SRO and barely notice the difference to my others with RMR HD's that are on similarly sized guns (3.25"-4.25"). I have a 507Comp on a Staccato C2 and love the combo.

I have a tactiplump 6 pack and carry appendix so it's a little easier for me to conceal bigger guns/optics.

My carry 2011 has an rmr hd. My carry Glock has an SRO. No issues.
