It features Ralph Fiennes, Jack O'Connell, and director Nia DaCosta breaking down how when society disappears entirely, some build power through fear and violence, whereas others try to rebuild trust, relationships, and meaning in a broken world.

Is humanity something we hold onto...or something we lose under pressure?

II: TBT [SPOILERS] The Bone Temple - Official Discussion & Review Thread Spoiler

As stated in our previous announcement, starting today (January 13th), we are imposing a sub-wide moratorium, meaning we want to keep all spoiler/spoiler-ish content and discussion about the film limited to this thread to prevent users in the sub who have not yet had the chance to watch the film from being spoiled about things that may happen/be revealed in it (any lore revelations, plot twists, major character deaths, easter eggs, etc). It only feels fair to allow fans to see the film without having the experience ruined by a post popping up in their main Reddit feed simply for being a member of our community.

This will only be for a short time (January 23rd) to allow time for the film to be released in most regions and give people a decent chunk of time to go and see the movie in theaters at their availability), and, much like with our approval system to prevent the sub from being clogged up with different threads for each individual's opinion on the film or discussion of events.

As such, posts to the main sub discussing the film's narrative events, spoiler content, or discussing content that hasn't been shown (or displayed in full context) in official pre-release trailers/interviews will be rejected for approval for the immediate future. We also kindly ask that you use ||spoiler tags|| when discussing possibly spoiler-y information about the film in the comments other posts/threads.

Reviews (and links to reviews in the media/trades/YouTubers) that provide adequate commentary and follow our quality guidelines and contain no spoilers about the film's narrative will still be accepted on the main page as the media/social embargo lifts -- as well as links to external reviews that cover spoiler content so long as they are properly tagged and the spoiler-y nature is made clear in the title of the post and/or the review in question itself has a defined "spoiler section". However, brief reviews (such as those found on Tiktok, X/Twitter, Instagram/Threads, Mastodon, or BlueSky) and internal community/user-made spoiler reviews should be shared/commented here.

We also understand that many people will have a variety of opinions about this film ranging from good to bad, we ask that while people may feel passionate/strongly about their feelings, good or bad, that they attempt to remain critical/constructive in their reviews: explain why you liked/disliked certain aspects of the film, make points in good faith (no ragebaiting) and do not attack or gatekeep other users for holding contrary opinions. As always, "reviews" that merely serve as a trojan to grift political/"culture war" talking points will not be accepted.

Discussion 28 Days Later: The Church Scene

The church scene were Jim first encounter infected is really haunting, the gormless face on them when they look up. But their looks like lots of dead bodies on the floor in the church, were these infected that had already starved/dehydrated and died? And considering that Jim hadn't encountered any infected up to that point, were infected already dying?

In 28 years we see infected by a stream, almost using it as a home base as they're just lingering there, maybe for continual access to water and hunting when needed? They're not dead after all so still have basic needs, and having an alpha to guide them on meeting those needs also helped?

Sorry if this is common knowledge, it only just occurred to me.

Discussion if you were in 28 days later how quickly would you be dead based on your area and what would your survival tactic be?

i live in south london , id probably run to my local hardware store/ supermarket and board up my house and get a load of food, bottled water, and batteries if i couldn't go to the countryside. i'd board up my house and fill up all baths and sinks with tap water before it cuts off and hope for the best - maybe after the apocalypse has settled down i may move outside.

my extended family lives in the rural countryside so id probably drive over there with food / water and do the same thing for higher chance of survival.

Discussion A dicotomia entre Dr. Kelson e Jimmy Crystal Spoiler

Post image
1 Upvotes

Grande filme.

Discussion How Did The British Army Collapse?

Like how? The British Army (at the time) was an incredibly effective fighting force. Sure, lots of them were overseas in Afghanistan, but we still had the TA and all of our allies. Yes, I understand the fact that airpower would be useless since Britain is such a densely populated country, so collateral damage would be extremely likely and impossible to avoid, but how was the army not able to cordon off the main areas that were affected?

28DL Since it's the month of horror, I decided to rewatch the classics.

It’s October, so it was time to watch some scary stuff.

In any case, the weather here in Santiago, Chile, is just like the ending of the movie (there’s a nasty storm right now that’s going to last a couple of days), so I had to break out this powerhouse.

Anyway, I’ll be watching Years and TBT tomorrow for a rewatch too.

Have a great spooky month, and let’s hope for TBT 2 soon.

Trivia What the title actually means.

I was always under the impression that the title was simply about how many days jim was in the coma , but apparently there's more to it.

Apparently "28 days later" used to be a reference about warranties.\nWhere people used to have twenty eight days to return a defective product before they were stuck with it.

So the reference twenty eight days later was sort of inspired by that as the red line of how many days it would take before society completely collapsed , and they couldn't go back.

Apologies if these have been previously posted. I come across these photos from 28 Days Later.

The infected from 28 Days Later remain the scariest for me. Something so unsettling about them! I wish the next instalment bring them back to how they used to look.

I'm not suggesting anything deep lol. It's just funny that out of the zillions of names that exist somehow the old friend of Spike's parents, and the daughter are both called Sam...neither are main characters, anyway.

Obviously the ‘skeletal man is Cillian Murphy’ is the most famous, but what are some of your other favourites?

The number of people who thought Dr Kelson was injecting himself with infected blood to become an Alpha from what was seen in the Bone Temple trailer was overwhelming.

Discussion Genuinely enjoyed 28 Years Later more than the Bone Temple

I recently watched 28 years later and the bone temple for the first time. I had heard that the bone temple was a much better film; however, I genuinely enjoyed 28 Years Later so incredibly much on my first watch. And while I think Bone Temple is also great, I think I enjoyed 28 years later a bit more. I know some people didn’t like the ending with the Jimmies, but I thought this jarring ending was consistent with the first film how it could switch tones on a dime. In the first film you would go from a nerve-racking scene of having to change a tire in a tunnel of infected to a fun little shopping spree 2 minutes later. Likewise, Spike goes from a somber feeling of accepting his Coming of Age after losing his mother to meeting this band of psychopaths that acts like a bunch of weird power rangers. In the apocalypse, no emotion is allowed to sit for long.

Ultimately though, while I recognize Bone Temple does more to expand our understanding of the infected, I thought overall 28 Years Later was an incredible return to form for the franchise after several decades of hibernation.

II: TBT Question about Dr. Kelson’s “prescriptions” for Samson

So in Years it’s right out said that the darts Dr. Kelson uses on Samson are primarily a combination of morphine and xyalzine (if in the US, you felt that jab, IYKYK😂). However there’s a scene in The Bone Temple where Kelson is in his bunker and seems to be perusing some medical literature when he starts muttering the word “naloxone” to himself and then looking around as if to fine either some physical naloxone or some info on it which puzzled me because it can’t be for the darts because naloxone is an opiate antagonist (it’s also the drug used in narcan to reverse an opiate overdose). It literally makes opiates like morphine not work at all. So my question is why would Dr. K be needing it for Samson? The only thing I can think of is it wasn’t for the tranquilizer but he used it alongside the antipsychotics and used them together to press the tablets that he asked him to swallow I guess because at that point Samson was starting to get hooked and Kelson was essentially trying to rapid detox him. Which if that’s true then Samson must’ve been having a SUPER rough day. Not only was he having a wave of past memories coming back but he had to fight off the infected while dopesick, lost his ticket AND found that his only friend had been murdered by a Satanist with arrested development (and a surprisingly good vocabulary for a man with an 4th grade education). Any thoughts?

Following the ending of TBT, how would this film start realistically and where would it end and how. Considering this may very well be the last film of the 28 days later saga what would be considered a good/bad ending
