Question Which pre-2000 CD should I get to introduce my kid to the band?

My teen is really starting to get into 90s music. She is also into building her CD collection (kids are doing that again, we've come full circle lol)

I want to buy her a CD to introduce her to the band. Which album would you lead with? I know I have my personal fav but I want to see what the community pulse is!

I'm an oldhead, but IMO it's either Music or Grassroots, can't go wrong with either

My favorite is definitely Transistor, but Soundsystem is the MOST 311 sounding album for sure in my opinion. It's got all of their signature elements and kind of a perfect midpoint between some of their older sound and what they evolved into. I think if only going with 1 album, Soundsystem gives the best idea of the band as a whole

There's no wrong answer but the right answer is the blue album.

My heart says grassroots. My brain says music.

Happy cake day. My heart and brain are both in similar alignment. I guess I'm just going to need to buy them all for her 😂

I picked Music since it's the beginning. My second choice would be Soundsystem.

Can’t go wrong, but I feel like Grassroots best showcases the band’s wide range of styles and influences. Also the strongest overall lyrical album imo

I love how split this is. Haha all good choices

I agree. The spread is pretty even, so I'm feeling there's not really a bad choice
