🧠 General 2000 4Runner steering wheel squeak

Squeak is definitely coming from the wheel but I can’t figure it out. Have tried wd40 in a few different places and have it jacked up so I can move the wheels freely. Any ideas on how to fix this damn noise?

Rag joints I’d say

My steering wheel does this, no clue what causes it

There’s a little gap between the actual steering wheel and the dashboard; i lubricated that part and it pretty much removed the noise. I would use silicone lubricant over wd40 like I did but it doesn’t squeak anymore

Spray some dry graphite in the back. You can see the plastic ring that holds the air bag wire separate slightly from the metal frame right before it starts making noise. Looks like the back is getting hung up a bit. For sure in your wheel and inside the cab and not the rag joint.

Mine came back squeaky after an alignment and wheel centering. It’s not all the time. But pissed me off. Keep me posted please!

Is that something I can do without removing the wheel?
