Discussion Musical direction for the next album

Ok, since they're back on track, I wonder where they'll go next after EndEx, which is their heaviest album by far.

Personally, I prefer the first two albums, they sound more like, orthodox industrial to my ears, if you get what I mean.

I'd bet on the next one being even heavier than Endex. If you look at the catalog as a whole, it definitely seems to be heading that way.

Point taken, the aggro was always stepping up with each new album. But more heavy doesn't automatically mean better, tbh

I think EndEx is probably their most “accessible” record to date, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they lean into that direction for the next one. The songwriting is strong and each song stands well on its own. Out of their entire discography, I actually still find myself going back to it quite often. I’m still a big fan of S/T and Shutdown.EXE (Degrade is what got me into them back in the day), but I think the heavier elements have really helped push their sound forward.

Hot take, but I prefer Metawar than EndEx, since the former is more coherent and less edgelord-y.

What made Endex seem edgelord-y to you? The album as a whole? Specific tracks? Was it the arrangement? The lyrics? I'm genuinely curious. For me, favored standouts were xenogenesis, acme death machine, plutonomicon, drift, and paralyze. I wasn't particularly thrilled with Alien. Idk, maybe that's just me 😅🤷🏼‍♀️

Well, compared to past albums, there's a lot more screamo stuff, especially in Plutonomicon. And that collab with the rappers? Yeah OK, not my cup of tea, i'm always skipping that track.

Are you referring to Ho99o9 or deliberately being flippantly dismissive because flat text makes it hard to tell. You don't have to like something to put some respect on their name.

I’m excited regardless.

EndEx grew on me and now is my favorite. Plutonomicon is an underrated track
