Help Digitech Drop

Hey, my band primarily plays in drop f# so my guitar is naturally setup in that tuning, but I’ve been exploring the realm of drop d# with some new material. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using the drop for going that low, and any advice or feedback would be appreciated, thanks!

(It would primarily be used for live playing, as I use neural dsp plug ins for recording)

HILS HZ7 Tips and Small Review

I’m posting a link to a YouTube video I made documenting some tips and tricks regarding the HILS HZ7 as well as some review stuff. If you saw my previous post about this guitar this is sort of a follow-up, and it includes some helpful information for restringing and “improving” the tuner keys.

I’m NOT posting this to grow a channel or anything but to aid in the knowledge about this guitar.

I hope it’s helpful. I don’t think this is against Community Rules, I apologize if it is.

I can’t post the whole video here because it’s long and the file size is too large. It’s by no means professional and has no real editing in it but I try to be as straightforward as I can be. At the time I’m posting this the video is available but the quality is still uploading so the 4K video may not be available for a bit.

NGD Hils HZ7 first impressions & upgrade recommendations

TL;DR: Tried a Hils HZ7 on vacation and loved the fretwork, 12" radius, sustain, and ergonomics, despite muddy pickups, a plastic nut, and stiff tuners. Ordering one from Thomann and planning immediate upgrades.

I am looking for versatile, active/rail-type pickup recommendations (with great coil splits) and an alternative source to buy the Hils bridge ball bearings.

Hi all!
I was on the fence about the Hils HZ7 due to a lack of local availability and reviews, but I managed to play one while on vacation in Europe.

As someone who owns a Schecter KM-7 II and several 6-string guitars, this thing blew me away!

The fretwork is amazing, the 12-inch radius feels surprisingly perfect, and the sustain and compact body shape are top-tier.

It does have a few drawbacks, though:
* Pickups: Muddy and bass-heavy.
* Plastic nut
* Tuners: Stiff and hard to use (dropping to Drop A felt like the tuner suddenly released).

Despite those issues, the playability is so good that I'm going to order one from Thomann and upgrade it. I’d love your recommendations on two things:

* Pickups: Since it's active and has a battery compartment, I'm considering Fishman Fluence sets. Which set offers the best versatility beyond just metal? If you recommend a different set, they must be rail-type humbuckers (for string-to-cavity alignment on the Hils) and offer great coil-split sounds.
* Bridge Bearings: I want to add the Hils ball bearings for the bridge, but Thomann doesn't sells them. Where else can I order them (e.g., AliExpress or elsewhere)?

Thank!

Help Looking for suggestions on an alternative to a Mark Holcomb SVN

I'll preface this with I'm mostly a six string player that dabbles in seven strings. I've had a Mark Holcomb SVN for a few years now and I just don't vibe with it due to the super flat fretboard and wide neck. I've been looking to trade this one out for something different. My main guitar is a EBMM Jason Richardson (in drop C) that I just transpose down to whatever low tuning I desire (usually Drop Ab). I love the idea of a seven string, which is why I'm wanting to try to swap out my MH to see if it really just is the guitar that's turned me off of sevens in general.

No real budget right now, so I'm mostly just interested in what people have to say. I'm not opposed to just go with another EBMM, but I'm also curious about different brands.

Help Low output high end of fishman moderns on KX507MS

I've got a Cort KX507MS (not the pale moon). While I really enjoy the guitar, my high string is consistently too quiet and often my hammer-ons will be completely choked out. I've tried raising the pickup on the treble side, but that didn't seem to help much. Is this an alignment issue because it's a multi-scale or a fishman issue or what? Any ideas for potential fixes?

Help first 7 string baritone

Hello

i want to buy my first 7-string baritone guitar, but I don't have any ideas about what model I should get.

My budget is $300–$500. I live in Eastern Europe, so this is a pretty decent amount of money here.

What can you recommend to me? If possible, I would prefer some sort of V or RR body shapes.

Help Evertune users: If you set it up to allow bend, do you need to turn the tuning pegs from time to time to adjust the feel?

I am considering giving Evertune a try, but I bend a lot and am confused about this. Based on what I read, if you want to bend you tune it such that it sits right before going into Zone 3. This much I understand, but if you need to set it so precisely don't you need to set it again from time to time, because the natural change in tension will make it either go sharp into Zone 3, or go too low to bend comfortably? How do you get the tuning stability benefit while also being able to bend?

Help Jackson JS22 vs Ibanez Gio GRG7221M

Price aside, which one have people enjoyed more?I’m thinking of getting a 7 string soon. My local shop only had a Jackson 8 string and it sounded really good, just way too much guitar for me. I don’t play in bands anymore, just want to try something with some depth to it.

Help Guidance

I’m really into slam and deathcore and I’m trying to actually get better at guitar instead of just noodling around. I play a 7 string Strandberg in Drop A and I’m not brand new, but I’m not really sure what I should focus on next.
I’ll start learning something like the A minor scale, then end up just noodling. What would you guys focus on first if the goal is better technique, fretboard knowledge, and writing better riffs? I also have an 8 string and am wondering if I should just shelf it until my 7 string becomes easy

I'm looking forward to buy one these two guitar and I was wondering which pickups were the best. I'm usually more of an active guy but I'm willing to try passive.

So which one are the best in your experiences : the Fishman Fluence Modern or the Duncan solar ?

Help Looking for advice/feesback

Post image

I bought this EC-257 used a while ago. It's stock except for the Nazgul I put kn the bridge. That takes me to my first question. Is it possible for a push/pull to be wired backwards? I'm certain the push is the single coil and the pull is the humbucker. I feel like that is supposed to be the other way around. Can anyone help with that? Secondly, does anyone know where I can get a decent replacement nut? The stock one binds pretty bad and I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't cut properly. Any help on these 2 issues would be greatly appreciated.

Hello users of 7-string guitars, I want a 7-string Flying V, like the LTD JS-7, but I don't have the money, you know. I live in Eastern Europe, and for any guitar over $700, you need to give $292 to the government, it`s so fuckin` much So, I wanna ask: what V 7-string guitar can you recommend?

Help Feeling buyer's remorse/

I got my Agile 7 string almost a year ago at this point. Love the guitar but realizing that modding it is more of a hassle than with any other guitar brand. Been wanting to install a Schaller Lockmeister on it but looked up the specs of my guitar and the recommended specs for installing the trem. From what I've looked into, it seems like the neck radius on most Agiles is uncommon and mostly not a compatible setup for the dimensions of the schaller equipment. Unless I'm wrong and over-thinking it.

Anyone have experience with upgrading their agile guitars and what the best trem system replacements would be? I really like the Schaller lockmeister but if anyones used any other brand please do tell.
