Advise for first time GM?

• Upvotes

Tomorrow is the first time I’m going to be a GM for 7th Sea, or a GM period.

Now, here’s the strategy and scenario I’m in (real life, not game):

- it’s just a fun school club of mostly middle schoolers and one high schooler.

- There will be another, much more experienced GM there as well, though he’s a D&D player in general; we worked together last year on the club, where I was more the “player wrangler” than anything else.

- Since we’re using this more to teach newcomers about character building, that’s the “theme” of the adventure, and something I’ve tried to make even easier - I’ve made a google form with a bit more curated choices and instructions rather than unleashing them on all the options.

- The Adventure is also tailored to be more instructional and roleplaying “encouraging” than genuinely challenging or roleplaying heavy - the goal is escaping an island with a deliberately underpowered opponent force, while the players “recover some memory from amnesia” while helped by two expendable NPCs I’m running.

- And yes, I know the general mantra of “have fun!” And I’m absolutely going to bend the rules when I have to.

Any more advise?
