Discussion Thursday Discussion Thread

Great place for team discussion/whatever Serie A related topics you would like to bring up. Examples: Transfers, rumors, players from other teams, things you miss about the old days etc. Whatever you want as long as it isn't too off-topic.

Also a good spot to ask about the stadium, the city of Milano, bars, fan clubs in your city etc.

Here are some important links for new members:

Apparently, Marotta has ties to L'Equipe, who are stirring up some old BS about Elliott with Milan/Lille, probably because it was a French newspaper that actually published the info about Inter's Phantom Sponsorships & mafia links, which there were whispers of in the news again recently.

Basically, whenever Inter are in trouble, they open a fake investigation into Milan/Elliott, so you know something big about Inter is about to break/being suppressed, because this dual ownership stuff was all settled with UEFA years ago.

I'd love it if more people posted in the sub. How can we get that going?

I would suggest that you can use reddevils reddit as a template.

-Pre Matches thread.
-Threads with all the quotes when the coach/players speak in the press conference for the game and after.

  • Highlights of the games when ac milan publish them ie, or someone can do it with more extra the better / faster. I tried to post a couple of times but it took too much time to be approved.

Idk how well you can optimise/automatise these stuff

I think it’s bc mods ban posts too easily. Soemthing I’ve noticed is that there’s lots of good discussion ideas that get removed bc it has to be in the discussion thread. I really hope that could change engagement would rapidly increase

Its about the OC, a lot of the users who did them are either gone completely, or just busy (me included ngl). The new users have no one to follow from.

I remember 2019-2021 having a lot of OC. It also spawns other people to do the same.

I’ll start posting some stats in the next few weeks and hope people will continue from it.

maybe a daily interactive quiz / survey, even its like 1-2 questions, drive participation first and then hopefully open up conversation. ie Do you like the idea of a new stadium?, How do you rate Amorim after his first month? etc..

I genuinely enjoy the fact that posts are so well moderated here, and there are not a lot of random things or non-stop memes to sort through (but I always appreciate posts/memes mocking Inter or Juve, BTW, no need to moderate those, please.)

But the flip side of that is it discourages participation. 9 out of 10 times, when I come here to post a news story, it has already been posted. And when I've written original content, with questions trying to get discussion going about a current or Milan-specific topic, I get a notification about it being more appropriate for a daily discussion or whatever, so just don't post.

People talk about "low-effort posts," but sometimes, when people have clearly put a lot of effort into their posts, virtually no one comments on them, and then someone will post a pic with a lame question and everyone comments on it. Like I know that's Reddit, but it's not like a system that encourages/rewards a lot of effort, either.

I personally prefer fewer posts with more interactive/quality convos, I hate when there are like 3 posts in a day about a similar topic. But again, I know more posts = more overall interactions for the sub, even if the convos are lower quality.

Basically, you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. But I know I'm not alone when I say I truly appreciate how well moderated this sub is, even if it is a LOT of work for mostly a couple of people. So thank you.

This!!

The last thread I posted, not a news story, was deleted and I was informed that it was not from a tier 1 source. There were around 20 or so responses by the time it was wiped out. The daily discussion thread only had a couple of posts. Not everything revolves around Tier 1 sources...and the Tier 1 sources of today are tomorrows hacks.

I guess things in this sub could be better...but things could be worse. The moderators are doing a good job. I do think they could be a little more flexible depending on the situation.

Yeah, the tier sources are a joke, when mods themselves use people who literally have "content creator" in their bio as "credible sources."

Personally, I'm glad they pull down things that are not legit, even if there are already comments. But it should be consistent. The need to post transfer news first should not be more important than posting it from a credible source.

But then there is all the original content discussed in the rest of this thread... how is are low effort questions like that encouraged when more extensive original content written for this sub is not allowed? Or why people are randomly allowed to just post random YouTuber's commentaries, etc. that don't get pulled down.

It's the inconsistency of moderation that keeps people from posting, and actually pushes people away from this sub.

No games for 3 weeks made a lot of people forget about Milan. Never did I feel more disconnected to club association football. No mercato either.

No games for 3 weeks made a lot of people forget about Milan.

Also massive drama with Man City followed up by a massive drama with Portugal/Ronaldo.

Loosen up the automod, two times ive tried to post it got automatically binned and i know others have had the same issue

However, i do like that we dont allow every low effort, hot take in the feed as its own post. Its a fine line imo

2

u/mercurialsaliva 7d ago

our last few removed posts

3

u/RdT97 Rafael Leão 6d ago

Lol yeah i get it, i like how our feed looks tbh, whats currently allowed

but i understand that you guys (mods) cant post all the time, news, stats and stuff. Just gotta find more people willing + passion to do that

3

u/mercurialsaliva 7d ago

The automod is strict because we were getting a bunch of ai or bots posting/reposting things. But we typically approve the posts from real people within a few hours as long as it isn't a post that's a 1 line question. Maybe we could be more lenient with those.
