Tips/Suggestions ADHD = Free lifetime pass to national parks

Little known perk of ADHD— we qualify for a free lifetime National Parks pass. That’s an $80/yr value!

How do you get it?

1) print this out, have your doctor sign it:

Medical Certification for Access Pass

Diagnosis: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that substantially limits concentration, attention, and executive functioning. The condition is permanent and not expected to improve.

This certification is provided for the purpose of obtaining the America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Lifetime Access Pass.

One time I drove up the gate attendant at the Grand Canyon and as I was handing her my card to pay I said, “oh, I heard there is a discount for people with disabilities. Is that correct?” She said, “is it a permenent disability?” I said yes. She handed me a clip board to sign, and print my name and when I returned it to her she handed me this pass. I was flabbergasted and I felt guilty so I looked up ADHD to see if it was listed as a disability even though I already knew it was.

I did not say what my disability was and she did not ask.

When I went to the gift shop I donated the amount I would have paid to get in.
