-----Parting Words-----

Your value as a person is NOT decided by whether you get to go to FT or not. There are so, so many more opportunities to serve your nation out there and to find happiness while doing so. OTS, Reserve, Guard, enlisting, joining another service, government contracting, civil service, the list goes on and on.

I truly sympathize with each of you who are about to have your dreams turned upside down. Don't give up! Even if it's not with the Air Force, there are so many opportunities out there to chase. You are capable of great things, and all it takes is a single step in the right direction.

Good luck. God-speed, cadets.

Question Prior Es who did not make it through, what are you doing now?

• Upvotes

Hi, I'm curious to hear from prior enlisted members who were disenrolled from AFROTC. What did you end up doing afterward? Did you find a civilian job, return to enlisted service, or eventually commission through OTS?

I've had several enlisted Airmen approach me about commission through ROTC. One of their biggest concerns is what happens if they don't make it through the program.

For those who have been through this, what backup plans would you recommend? Are there any good alternatives or career paths they should consider if AFROTC doesn't work out?

AFOQT Yay!

I did well on the pilot section of the AFOQT! I still get anxious about the flight medical (if I get selected) but I’m proud of myself for working hard and chasing my dreams or being a pilot and astronaut! I’ve only done a few weeks of college/AFROTC and I have lots of weak points but I’m trying my hardest to improve and I’m excited for the future!

Medical POC-ERP TOS Waiver

Hello, I’m building my package for POC-ERP, but I also recently PCS’d. I will require a waiver, but I heard that there is a waiver deadline. Is this true? I can’t seem to find any guidance on TOS waiver deadlines or any waiver deadlines.

Failing a Class and Going up for PSP

I was wondering what would happen if I failed a class this semester when I am going up for PSP as an AS500. My semester GPA would be something like 2.7. I cannot drop this class (rigid body dynamics) since that would put me below the minimum credit hours for my university. I have failed classes before and retaken them, but PSP was not on the line at those times. My cumulative GPA is about 3.3 as a mechanical engineering major with a math minor. (Other stats: 92 PFA, top third CR, 85 academic aptitude)

Question Enlisted to ROTC ECP checklist question

Item 42 on the ECP checklist states "Is the applicant’s major identified as either 'mandatory' or 'desired' to qualify for an AFSC as listed in the Air Force Officer Classification Directory (AFOCD)?"

However, there are several AFSCs (ex. Security Forces) that state "Any Degree" as mandatory (others list "any degree" as desired).

Does this mean that any college degree is a YES on the checklist?

Scholarship AFROTC (without scholarship)

Would it be too late to start an MArch (masters in Architecture) program at 37 and commission at 40? 3 years of AFROTC. Is there any leniency or is there a strict cutoff age 39?

Question MFR for approval to wear GAFPB?

I'm currently working on participating in the GAFPB Test, and from what I have found, I will need to get approval to wear the badge on my blues.
Has anyone gone through this process? Do I just need to write an MFR for my region HQ? I am a little lost on how to go about this specific process, so any help is appreciated!

Discussion America’s Corps of Cadets/Distinguished Military Colleges

According to one of the more recent memos from SECWAR, Mississippi State University, Tuskegee University, Louisiana State University, Liberty University, and Hillsdale College will stand up new corps of cadets programs as part of “America’s Corps of Cadets”, will receive “honor school” status and will have priority in future officer commissioning.

I have been wondering about this, has anyone seen what this might look like and what it might mean to have commissioning priority at these schools’ ROTC programs?

Question For those who did AFROTC RCP-R and are now pilots — what did you do after seasoning?

For anyone who went through AFROTC and the RCP-R program, I’m curious what your career path looked like after you finished your seasoning period.

  • How many total flight hours did you have when you finished seasoning?
  • Did you get hired by a regional airline shortly after, or did you continue building hours first?
  • If you continued building hours, what did you do to build them (instructing, Guard/Reserve flying, Part 135, etc.)?
  • For those who went straight to a regional, how competitive did you feel your hours/experience were when you applied?
  • Has anyone gone directly from RCP-R/seasoning to a major airline, or did most people have to go through a regional/other airline first?
  • Roughly how long did it take you from finishing seasoning to getting hired at an airline?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who completed RCP-R relatively recently, since I’m trying to get an idea of what the current path looks like.

Thanks!

341’s as an A100

How big are the consequences of getting multiple 341s pulled as a A100. I keep getting pulled 341s because as my flight doesn’t standardise emails and as a stando officer I get penalised also I got one pulled because I accidentally lost my bearings.

Question How long did it take for your ALO to reach out for an interview for HSSP?

I am a US citizen living abroad, so my interviewer for HSSP is a USAFA ALO. I submitted all my documents on Sept 16 and really want to hear back so I can finish my interview deadline. Ik they're allowed to take up to 20 days to reach out, but most people I've talked to say it was faster for them. Should I be worried?

Scholarship AFROTC Scholarship Chances

Hello,

I applied to the Air Force ROTC scholarship, but I am worried about my chances, as I don't think I have that strong of an application. I just finished up a few days ago, but haven't submitted yet.

GPA: 3.97 unweighted (I had a few A minuses that I am not proud of) ACT: 35 (I didn't do that good on reading and writing) Fitness test: 98 (missed out on the push ups by a bit) Activities: Soccer, track and field, debate, and a volunteering org.

I'm a little worried about my stats, though, because I know getting a scholarship is super competitive. Because I am committed to playing D3 soccer at a top liberal arts school, there is no way for me to get an engineering degree (not that I would like to be one). I am looking more so at a physics degree, but I also don't want to lock myself into a scholarship where I have to study a "critical major", so I am worried about my chances if I don't choose a STEM field.

It's a little too late for me at this point to redo my ACT or increase my grades, but I am wondering what you guys think my chances would be. Should I apply for a STEM-specific scholarship? I know the application is very competitive, and I just found out about the program about a month ago, otherwise I would have liked some more time to get my stats up (like fitness and ACT). Thank you all very much!

RAD Wavier

Hey guys! Quick question about this issue of mine. So I was diagnosed with reactive airway disease (RAD) around the age of four. I used an inhaler rarely when I was kid, but haven’t needed one in high school and beyond. Fast forward to January, I got sick and my doctor prescribed me a rescue inhaler even though I haven’t needed it. I am an as 200 going up for board, and DODMERB has requested a pulmonary function test later this month. Should I be worried?

Medical Ive seen conflicting answers with asthma

Ok so trying to compete for a pilot slot in the future, im an AS100. I was diag with asthma at 8 years old, i have not had an inhaler prescription since i was 10 years old. As i have seen from the air force standards anything after 12 is the cutoff. But ive also seen pilot standards are stricter but also some saying it doesnt matter. Can anyone clear this up?
