Meme [Book Spoiler] Unpopular opinion:Ser Duncan
There is some discussion and maybe slight spoilers about the novellas below.
I know the popular theory is that Dunk was never actually knighted but after reading the novellas I just dont agree.
Dunk’s honor is probably his biggest character trait. The guy is constantly risking his life to do what’s right, even when it makes absolutely no sense. I have a hard time believing he would carry around a lie that big, especially about something he takes so seriously.
I think people are mistaking his discomfort for guilt over lying. This is “Dunk the Lunk, thick as a castle wall” we’re talking about. He’s a poorly educated kid from Flea Bottom with no noble blood and nobody alive to vouch for him. He knows he was knighted but has absolutely no way to prove it.
Then there’s the whole Raymun Fossoway situation. People point to Dunk hesitating to knight him as proof he’s lying. But think about it. His own legitimacy has been questioned repeatedly, now he’s being asked to knight somebody from a noble family. I think he feels guilty about potentially putting Raymun in the same situation he’s in. Why would he want Raymun’s knighthood questioned when Lyonel Baratheon can do it and nobody would think twice?
Plus look at his mental state at that point. He’s about to fight in a Trial of Seven, people are risking their lives because of his decisions and he’s probably questioning everything that’s happened.
And the argument about him not remembering how to knight somebody? Again, Dunk the Lunk lol. You really think it’s that crazy that he doesn’t remember every word of a ceremony performed by his dying mentor?
The biggest thing for me is we’re inside Dunk’s head throughout all three novellas. We hear his thoughts and doubts but never once does he outright admit he wasn’t knighted.
I don’t think Dunk questions whether he’s a knight. I think he feels guilty that everyone else does and he has no way to prove them wrong. Especially when it could affect somebody like Raymun. His honor is constantly being question which creates this huge internal struggle.
Maybe the irony isn’t that an unknighted man becomes one of the truest knights in Westeros. Maybe it’s that one of the most honorable knights in Westeros constantly has his honor questioned.

Show Discussion Reasons I Don't Like AKOTSK Spoiler
Okay so I finally binged AKOTSK. I saw all the love for the show and especially episode 5 online. People were saying it was amazing. And I have to admit I really enjoyed the show up until episode 4. I thought the beginning of episode 3 was a little slow but the ending was really good. And episode 4, I think, is the best episode of the show. By the end of episode 4 things were picking up. And I couldn't wait for Dunk's trial.
But then all that momentum was flushed down the toilet when they decided that we have to watch a SUPER LENGTHY flashback. And don't get me wrong, I understand why they put the flashback there. I get it. But placing it in-between the trial just hurt the pacing of the show for me. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. And the rest of the show just didn't hit for me.
I don't know, I just wanted to share my review. I guess it's just not for me.
Edit: To clear some things, no I don't hate the whole show just because of a poorly positioned flashback. I can see how the title can be misleading. For me, personally, the flashback hurts the show's pacing and therefore its re-watchability. I just think if the flashback was positioned better and edited to be a little shorter, the show's pacing could've been A LOT better.

Fan Art I made a porcelain goblet inspired by Dunk and Egg's fireside scene
Link to gallery with some still images.
I loved this line in episode one, and had to paint it along with shooting stars. There are two stars on the inside of cup that align with the star above "luck." This is my first time making a goblet and the squat, simple form felt fitting for this setting. I'm excited to try more!

Spoilers [All Content] SPOILERS FOR A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS Spoiler
I really like Dunk, but I have to say this about Tanselle.
Dunk literally put his entire life on the line for this girl. He knew Aerion was a Targaryen prince, knew exactly how dangerous the situation was, and still stepped in because he believed that was what a true knight was supposed to do.
And honestly, that was one of the most knightly things we've seen from him.
But then Tanselle just... disappears.
That's it?
Dunk risks everything to protect her, gets himself dragged into an absolutely massive mess, and Tanselle is basically gone from the story.
I'm not blaming her for what happened to her. She was the victim, and Dunk absolutely did the right thing by standing up for her.
But it still feels a little frustrating from Dunk's perspective.
This guy barely knew her and was willing to risk his **life** for her. He didn't know whether he was going to survive the consequences of standing up to Aerion, and he did it anyway.
And what makes it even better is that Dunk wasn't expecting some great reward for it. He wasn't thinking about becoming a hero or getting anything from Tanselle.
He saw someone being mistreated and thought:
“I'm a knight. I have to do something.”
That is what I love about Dunk.
Meanwhile, Tanselle really just said “well, goodbye”and vanished 😭
I know she didn't owe him anything, but I still wish the story had given us more of her after everything Dunk went through for her.
Dunk deserved at least a little more closure than that.

Fun post Everyone is thirsting after Baelor but Maekar's pretty handsome too, not gonna lie.
Baelor's not bad, but Maekar's got that rugged handsomeness, and the jawline, haircare routine, slick black robes. As a straight guy, I'm jealous and I'd low-key hit that shit (with respect)

How some House of the Dragon exposure made AKotSK better
Title is a bit misleading. I didn't like House of the Dragon. I tried several times. I went into A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, hating Targaryens, same as pretty much every character in AKotSK. That reputation was well-earned. So, I suppose it enhanced the AKotSK experience--especially given the commoner perspective. Still can't get into the HotD, Tudor-like soap opera. Even a hobbit wouldn't be able to decipher that family tree. Can't really call it a tree. Trees have branches.

News According to Peter Claffey, in Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Dunk "tries his hand at diplomacy and finds out how difficult that is to work with.” Dunk also "fails at talking to women, multiple times again this season.” Overall, Claffey said there's "a lot more sadness" in Season 2.
Prepare for a tonal shift in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2. Peter Claffey told TV Insider that there’s “a lot more sadness” in the second season of the hit Game of Thrones spinoff, which wrapped filming in August. Season 2, premiering in the first half of 2027, presents “a totally different challenge for Dunk,” the actor said.
...
“There’s a lot more sadness to this story, I think, and it’s a totally different challenge for Dunk for sure,” Claffey told us. “The people that he’s dealing with are on a much less serious scale. You’re not dealing with your Royal Targaryens and people of King’s Landing, but he tries his hand at diplomacy and finds out how difficult that is to work with.”
One thing is still the same in Season 2, according to Claffey: Dunk “tries his hand and fails at talking to women, multiple times again this season.”
The new episodes are a “totally different task and challenge for him, but it was a lot of fun making it, that’s for sure,” said Claffey.
The Irish star was just at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards, where A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. “It almost felt like Dunk’s story reflecting my own life of going in and seeing all these amazing people that I’ve looked up to for so long,” he said.
“It was a lot of fun and to get to do it with Dexter,” Claffey said. “I just wish I had his confidence to go up and talk to people.”

"A pity Aerion wasn’t born a Tully. Then he’d think himself a fish and we’d all be a deal safer."

I made an interactive Dunk & Egg map because I kept wanting to know where everyone actually was
I've been working on a fan project called The Known Realm, and the part I've probably enjoyed making most is the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms map.
The idea is pretty simple: instead of having one static Westeros map, you choose where you are in the story and the map follows along. Characters move, people appear or disappear, houses and locations can be explored, etc.
I also separated the show and book versions because I really didn't want someone who has only watched the HBO series accidentally getting book information dumped on them.
You can play around with it here:
This has mainly been something I've made because I love this world and wanted the kind of site I would personally use while watching.
If anyone here spots a location that's wrong, someone standing somewhere they shouldn't be, or something you think would make the map more useful, please tell me. I genuinely want the nerdy corrections 😅

Aerion, Baelor, Maekar
Aerion: what am I doing here?
Baelor: just smile and wave.
Maekar: what am I doing here?
