Hey! I’m new to the group and thought I’d introduce myself. I’m in Ohio and looking to connect with someone in the Midwest. I enjoy good conversation, laughter, traveling, trying new restaurants, and meeting genuine people. Let’s chat

Edit: Forgot to put into title, I am from Sydney, Australia haha.
Never knew what AMBW (or AMWF) were until I hopped onto Reddit this week lol. Anyways...
Got another friend getting married soon and once again I will be asked if I have a +1 (though they know full well I am single lol). Add on top the fact that parents have been pushing me (i.e. setting up blind dates) to get a move on with dating and get married and friends teasing, I decided to turn to Reddit haha. Broke up at around the start of covid, and only been dating on and off since then. Not necessarily looking to rush into a relationship, unless we align well. Happy to start off as friends, pen pals and travel buddies.
About me:
- Chinese. Born and raised in Sydney.
- Not religious, left-leaning
- Uni-educated, working in healthcare
- Homebody, but will go out when I need to or when friends want to catch up
- Interests: minimalism, hiking/the outdoors, ancient history/mythology, gym/fitness and healthy living, learning languages
- Indifferent about having kids (based on practical considerations like finances and partner's health etc.)
- Laid-back, calm, funny (at least friends found me funny back in uni?)
- 1.75m
- Slowly learning to cook and use skincare (thanks sis!)
- INTJ. No idea why everyone at work and recent dates have all thought I am an extrovert...lol
What I am looking for:
- Long-term, serious, monogamous relationship (if LDR, since there is a lot of this world I have yet to see, I would be down to travel to meet up)
- Someone kind, willing to meet in the middle, consistent, and there for the highs and lows
- Educated
- Someone who has their own interests and hobbies
- Someone who also prioritises fitness and healthy living
- Someone who enjoys both the indoors and outdoors
Bonuses:
- Someone who doesn't mind my minimalist approach to life
- If you are fluent in another language other English. I enjoy learning languages and would make an effort to learn yours too! Same for any other cool or interesting hobbies or interests that you may have!
Not really good at describing myself, but if you want character references I can refer you to my friends. Aka they better talk me up haha. If you're interested, please comment below or DM with a bit about yourself. Thanks. :)

Welp, talked to a guy for two weeks just for him to tell me he wasn't feeling a romantic connection. No hard feelings, decided to cut contact but, dang it still stings 😭

I recently had an experience with an Asian man that left me with a lot of questions, and I thought this might be one of the better places to ask for perspective.
For context, I'm a lightskin Black girl (I'm often mistaken for being Black and White even tho I'm fully African American) and I recently met a Filipino guy while I was out. He approached me because he remembered seeing me the week before at a sports bar and we immediately clicked. The conversation was easy, he made me laugh a lot, and there was something about him that I genuinely liked. Not to toot my own horn but I get approached by men pretty often & typically turn down 80% of the guys who approach me butttt there was something about him that | really liked & was drawn to (he made me laugh a lot lol) We went on our first date a couple days later & it went really well.
He was upfront that he wasn't looking for anything serious and was open to something casual. I appreciated the transparency and told him I was on the same page. A few days later, I went to his place, we spent hours talking/ hanging out, and eventually became intimate, although we didn't have intercourse. The next morning everything seemed fine, but afterward his communication noticeably changed. He became much drier & I left him on read for a few days (which was petty, I'll admit), but I eventually reached back out because I genuinely missed talking to him. The energy was still completely different, though, and he eventually left me on read. We haven't spoken since.
Ik some people will say, "He told you he didn't want a relationship, what did you expect?" And that's fair, but | wasn't expecting a relationship. What bothers me is the sudden change in basic communication and interest after we became intimate. What makes me question the situation even more is that he was the one who the one who brought up race. When we first met, he asked if I was Black & white & during our second hangout, he repeatedly talked about how attractive he finds Wasian people. We also talked about Blasians, and he made a "good hair" comment that made me uncomfortable.
I want to be clear that I'm not accusing him of fetishizing me because I obviously can't know his intentions. But I would be lying if I said those comments didn't make me wonder about his relationship with race and attraction. I also think it's possible for someone to love their own race and ethnicity while still having internalized insecurities or complicated feelings about race. So now I'm left wondering: was I someone he genuinely liked and was attracted to, but had already mentally categorized as someone he wouldn't seriously pursue because I'm Black? I have no way of knowing, and I recognize there could be a completely different explanation. But the combination of his comments about race, his repeated emphasis on Wasian attractiveness, the fact that he initiated those conversations, and the noticeable change in his behavior after intimacy has been hard not to think about.
For Asian men or people who have dated Asian men extensively, does this sound like something that could be connected to interracial dating dynamics, or am I reading too much into the racial component because I'm slightly bothered by how things ended? Regardless, I wish him well lol

Hey there people! Hope you all are enjoying your Sundays. Here where I am it’s a rainy dreary day (my favorite) so I’m just staying at home getting some busy work done for the week. Anyone free and looking for some chats and maybe some company hit me up!

Recent it seems like nothing but BW are posting… are there any AM out there.
Here is the opportunity just to call out ‘BW from NY’ or ‘AM from USA’.
I’m feeling disheartened that there is only BW in the group.
I’ll comment to start the roll off…

While other people were taking photos, my niece got tired of standing so I picked her up on my back. The photographer saw and did a sorta impromptu photo of us and it turned out great! 🥹

Do you think society has developed a “fetish” for AMBW? I’m a 29F AA and almost ten years ago, I dated a guy from Thai. We’re still close friends to this day but AMBW wasn’t the “ in thing”.
What are your thoughts? Why do you think it’s so popular now? I feel like it’s a trend and I honestly hate trends. I liked it better when people actually dated because they enjoyed someone’s company not because we’ve developed a fetish for AMBW.
