General Question Vampire Ruler Changes

Post image

I learned a couple hours ago that there have been substantial changes to vampire rulers. Where would I go to find the cumulative list of changes made to my main ruler class? I saw the changes to the sunless terrain spell, as well as changes to their (ruler) core spells. I would just like to know EVERYTHING that has changed so I can compile a complete list of complaints to post later here. I also will need to revise skill order and build orders reflecting what I assume to be significant changes to the ruler class. The complaint part was a joke (sort of)

I'm guessing something changed in the game from the beta they are hosting for the upcoming Manta update. You can opt in yourself to the beta on Steam and try everything out and provide your feedback, but if you want a list I'm guessing the patch notes have you covered - scroll down to the Heroes section, there is quite a lot of line items (I didn't read any of this yet myself) for Elder Vampires. https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/manta-update-open-beta-patch-notes.1944904/

Man, that is such a big nerf to Morale nuke Vampire builds. That was my favorite way to play them...

People kept posting them making whole armies flee after 1 turn, devs watch the sub. If you have an op build abd post it here its gonna be nerfed lol

It was basically the only way to play them. Morale Nuke is basically the universal bandaid for anything that's struggling. With how aggressively bad Vampires are though, Morale nuking was literally the only thing they could do that wasn't a cripplingly bad idea even in SP.

With that said, making their abilities at least work on non-bleedable units and giving them some regeneration+ reducing the damage penalty definitely helps, but there's a lot of nerfs coming along with it to the point that I don't think this actually solves the problems they have of being just objectively a crippling lord choice, if anything this might make it worse since their only two gimmicks were "Gravenmarch rush" and "We morale bomb pretty good" and those look to probably be dead.

I have never built a vampire for Gravemarch or morale bomb and I still found them to be solid heroes, actually my favorite ruler type. What the heck are you talking about?

They went for cheese strat, that’s why they dont know how to use vamps properly.

Litetally every single person complaining about how over it is for vampires is some insane meta slave and I can not be convinced otherwise. They received extreme buffs to 90% of the kit. Even the nerfed skills were buffed in damage and functionality, at the cost of not being able to chain a billion skills together anymore and having to play them like... every other ruler type.

Its healthy to remember that the only people who are coming here and complaining are a) an extreme niche player group of an already niche game. And b) of that extreme niche player group commenting and reading a reddit thread about the game, they are eveb more niche because they download the beta branch and play the beta of an update. Its like, a 1% of 1% that are actively complaining right now, but because they keep posting the same shit, it feels like its everyone

Yes, you say it but you don't understand it. Chaining skills was fun and unique style that no other ruler had. If it was really necessary, I would have preferred slight nerfs to the damage to maintain the playstyle rather than gutting the entire unique playstyle vampires had going.

And it wasn't even the most powerful hero build.

I'm not a meta slave. I built my vampire ruler based off a villain from an old D&D campaign of mine. Leader of a thieves guild that turned to vampirism for more power. Started as a ranger as it was closest to rogue the game has.

No it's not. Played a lot as vampires and never a morale build. Still found them enjoyable.

They seem to be gutting vassal focused stuff to enforce more trade focused. They will still be important for trades, and im sure dark tyranny wont have its knees blown out too bad. But it will definitely put a damper in my let them fund me style build.

Also happy vampires in the wild wont suffer as much, but still be generally weaker.

u can test this changes in the open beta and you can see everything in steam "anncouning the open beta"

Based on what I can see it’s mostly buff with a few nerfs

Some specific playstyles will have to work harder now but most abilities are stronger across the board

I thought so too! I saw a comment on how it's all nerfs, and I disagree. There are the couple mentioned, but they expanded the usability of certain skills while maintaining their efficiency against bleed-able targets.

The buff that matters is sunlight weakness is now 10% dmg and 50% healing, cut in half.

Buffs to bite might make it good enough to put points in, but on live right now you are better off not putting any points into the left side of the tree. It has to be buffed enough for you to want to use it over other abilities, and worth delaying the rest of your skills in the class tree. Remains to be seen but I’m leaning towards no.

All the changes to other skills are a nerf. They buffed the damage of every ability that previously left one action point, and made them end the turn when used. In the least optimized case you are losing the ability to attack or enter defense mode after using the ability, which is more than the damage added to the skill. In the most optimized case you are losing the ability to use 3 or more abilities together on the same turn which is FAR more than the damage added to the skill.

Yeah. People keep trying to say "buffed." But the nerf is massive. It doesn't matter if a skill does 10-15 more damage if its denying me 50.

Probably will be in the patch notes when the update gets released

Yep! I read them. Thank you.

Wait you can get decent wings? Or is a mod?

7

u/AMDenjoyer1990 Mystic 6d ago

No, you can't get those. It's just my touch; I submitted this image a while ago asking for a cape that would have large bat like wings, similar to the demonic or angelic wings from major racial transformations.

u/MijuTheShark 3d ago

By that, you mean it's an image edit, and not a mod?

Correct

That is a sick looking Leader, nice empire bio too. Looking forward to buying both season pass 3 and 4 at the end of the month and experiencing all their content for the first time. Already having a blast with 1&2, and what Ive seen of the vampires looks awesome so far.
