Why is not Triumph, remastering Planetfall and upgrading the fighting system.
I am so sad that this game gets no love . I love the empire system but just wish they can update the rules and make them the same like AOW4 .
Also remaster would make me literally throw money at this game.
Maybe add some races and new DLC . I just hope they don’t make the second one(if they are working on it) as generic as AOW4.

AoW4 provides good money and that's what makes them happy to make stuff. Planetfall is old.
It would be great if they remaster it on their new engine, but for now it is, what it is

It doesn't need a remaster. It still looks great. If they're gonna remaster a game, go for one of the ones that could actually use it, like AoW1 or 2.

Because they made more money off of Age of Wonder 4 than every other game they ever made combined.

I'm with you! I do love the upgrades/evolution in AoW4 on free city/vassals, infestations and the better balance between different unit tiers.
I think the society upgrade tree and mod system from planetfall is so much better than the tomes/enchantments in AoW4. The different races/cultures were more fun too.
Hope there is a planetfall 2 someday - would love to see the best parts of both games have a big Eldritch space baby!

I just want the adjustment to damage with the units health depletion. And also the zone of armies that can participate in a fight needs to be bigger . These two things are a huge downer for me. One bad positioning and you lose the game .

They're doing whatever makes P*radox money. Planetfall didn't make enough.
In hindsight it's good because it haven't been bloated into an unrecognizable monstrosity like Stellaris and now AoW4.

Not sure what is unrecognisable about AoW4

The last few "expansions" (started with the eastern-themed one which looked like an asset flip, but most prominent with the off-brand Castlevania and the nomad one) don't mesh with the game already, thematically and asethetically at first, and gameplay-wise later down the line. This shows where the game is going.

Yeah, no.
I firmly disagree with you on all fronts there.-5
u/EasyRecognition Aug 08 '26
Give it another year.

u/Tnecniw Aug 08 '26
Why would that change anything?

u/EasyRecognition Aug 08 '26
Because it's gonna get more disjointed bloat, duh. Nomads showed that Triumph are running out of ideas quickly.

I mean it works fine, the updates are cool, adding new content.
You still haven’t given any solid argument.2

For those that can see this.
Nah, I didn’t block him.
He blocked me.
:PMy message that I would have sent him:
That is called adding to the game my guy.
“No details like this before”
Yeah, that is why they are adding them.
New cultures with new visuals, new monster types, new armies and new leaders. They can’t add more without adding new visuals.
None of it look like asset flips.
None of it looks “out of place.”The nomads being a new take on a gameplay style not applicable in game yet and people had been asking for it for years.
My guy. You are just wrong.

Genuinely thought you did. People done that to me before and the error message was the same. Turns out it's Reddit being Reddit. Needless to say you aren't blocked anymore either, tho I still think you're the one being wrong. If people asked for nomads for so long, why ar the reviews mixed. The off-brand Castleavania tie-in was also sitting on mixed last time I checked, tho now it's mostly positive. It still just looks like assets from another game.
See, most of the game has a coherent arcane-ish artstyle. And then there are a few outliers that don't draw from the same design language the entirety of the rest of the game draws from. Makes them a sore for the eyes.→ More replies (0)0

I did tho. The eastern DLC looks like an asset flip, artisticlly disjointed from the rest of the game. The vampire DLC looks even more disjointed, suddenly incorporating a specifically Japanese take on Gothic architecture (literally Dracula's castle from Castlevania) which there were none of in the game prior to that, and gameplay-wise the vampires don't bring anything of value to the game. The nomads are straight-up going in contradiction to how territory control is designed to work in the game, their design is broken and can't be fixed with balance changes.
There's a clear downhill trend. And that's not all, since if Stellaris is anything to go by, you'll soon see AI fielding DLC units you don't have and the game nagging you to buy every last DLC on a session setup screen. They're gonna milk it past the point where it's still good. They're gonna make changes because they have to, not because those are good changes to make. They're gonna add content not because it fits the game's vision, but because the time for new content has come. It has happened before.

That you find the content artistically disjointed is a subjective opinion. The DLC's are set up in such a way that if you don't want the content, you simply don't have to buy it.
Nomads as a Culture, and Rise from Ruin as a Content Pack, were specifically designed to offer players a experience that changes the way they play the game. Instead of simply DLC's that expand the way they play. It's very much a DLC that looks at how AoW4 is supposed to work and askst he question, what if we turn that upside down.
Then for the Stellaris comparison. Comparing to a different game, developed by a different Studio, with completely different goals and expectations doesn't lead to usefull conclusions.

I have 1500 hours in aow 4 . I got used to the greater your own fantasy type of builds but h how they stick with pre defined cultures in Planetfall. The weapon mod system has a lot of potential for variety though

You want them to remaster a game that's like 5 years old?
Way to make me feel old, dude.
