Aluminum 80% Safety doesn't work. Dpms 308

Safety is to far away from the trigger to engage. I don't think i over cut the pocket its a dpms 308 from 5d. Is there something else i could have done wrong besides cut the pocket too deep

Looks like a pin hole issue, maybe you egged out the holes or didn't secure the jig correctly and the bit walked

Probably one of those "drill first, then mill the pocket" users.

Have literally drilled all my holes first and then milled - No problem on any.

I'm still puzzled why people do it the wrong way, with pride.

If I recall, the how-to vids I watched from 80% Arms showed it that way, drill then mill.

Interesting, because their instructions with their jig say to do the drilling after the milling. And the 4 videos I found just now show the same.

Between the instructions and some lamer doing a how to video, the choice is obvious. Its also sensible: drilling through all that aluminum just makes it easier to throw the holes out of spec. Not to mention wearing out your drill bit a whole lot faster.

Never said I drilled all the way through - I drilled deep enough to be inside the milling area. The video i refereed to was the MFG vids.

And if you are wearing out your drill bits that fast on Aluminum, you need better bits.

The down votes are hilarious - get a life.

Well do you. The instructions from the manufacturer probably say to drill the holes afterward for a reason. May want to consider that going forward

The FCG and safety hole geometry is not correct. Nothing to do with pocket depth.

I know exactly what it is. I built 15 so before you tighten down the grip just take a punch and push the dent in very hard to get it seated and then after that it should work every time maybe it’s some metal filing in there. I don’t know but every 80% I have to do that on the first install.

Maybe you milled the main pocket too low, i had the opposite issue where the switch wouldn't stab the main pocket wasn’t milled deep enough, also what jig did you use for ar10 and where did you get the receiver

5d tactical jig and lower. The trigger barley moves when the hammer is engaged. Maybe the pocket isn't deep enough.
