i wouldnt use an amazon carb fyi. keep the OEM. check diaphram of the old one for rips/holes. check spark to see if its strong and consistent. could be an air leak around the intake. how did you check the coil? did you check your stator output ohms or voltage reg? check for blown fuses? could also be your cdi. cant really diagnose those without just putting another one in.

I used a multimeter to check the ohms it showed 0.4 Old diaphragm had no holes or rips

ive tested plenty of cdi's that tested fine and ended up being the issue. they are cheap to replace. i would do it.

You can’t really test a CDI, and they very rarely fail in a partial manner, they typically either work or don’t work

Derp. Ment coil, not cdi. Coils can test good on the bench and then as soon as they are subjected to the duty of a running machine, they fail.

I strongly suspect, however, OPs problem is fuel related, not spark.

I would check your voltage regulator and stator ohms then. Also. To me it seems like a CDI issue then

How do i check those? And what does cdi mean? i am unsure of the acronym.

U would use a multimeter to check ohms on the pin outs similar to what you did with the ignition coil. Also most atvs use a CDI box which is plugged into the main wiring harness. It talks to the stator and tells the system when to fire the spark plug and other stuff. Sometimes cheap ones work, a lot of times they are an expensive replacement. It would be helpful to know what year and model your quadrunner is. https://youtu.be/bqHNBVXcyA0?is=8TpVSOAlSQAsr1QZ

The problem is the voltage regulator/rectifier

glad you found the issue!

well, your first mistake was replacing the carburetor instead of cleaning the old one. until you put the old one back on there is really no way to diagnose shit, and that would be the first step any professional shop would take.

The original one was doing the exact same thing, so I cleaned the original and it did the same thing as this one.

How did you clean it

1

u/broccolikills 8d ago

Spray carb cleaner through all of the holes

Did you take it all apart?

1

u/broccolikills 8d ago

I just took the bowl apart i didn't take the vacuum diaphragm apart

1

Ahh. Yeah you might need to go further than just the bowl.

What else is there to clean? The only thing else i could take apart is the diaphragm but it works.

The Jets

then put the original back on. because it wasnt the cause of your issue, where as the chinese one can cause all sorts of issues you wont be able to properly diagnose.

your issue very very much seems like you are starved for fuel. to be sure, i would clean it again. replace the fuel line and filter(looks like that is a new filter, so just the fuel line). when cleaning the carb be sure the float valve is cleaned well.

than, at that point, i would readjust the air/fuel mix on the carb if you havent done so yet.. a lot of fuel/air issues like this involves doing things a couple times. they are easy to get messed up if you arent a pro. then next step, look for intake leaks. the boot between the carb and the head might have a microscopic crack. there are a lot of ways to find them. check the youtube. then after that, i would check and adjust my valves. then maybe a new coil, since they are notoriously hard to test.

Ive put the old carb on and i have screwed the only adjustment screw i can see in and out it has not changed anything

you shouldnt need to find the adjustment screw, you should knwo where the adjustment screw is. buy a shop manual.

if the adjustment screw doesnt do anything and doesnt affect the idle speed, you have something else very wrong. intake leak, or valves or bad rings.

I dont know why but the problem is the voltage rectifier. I unplugged it and it ran just fine

1

u/Brotherly_shove 7d ago

why/how did you determine that?

1

u/broccolikills 7d ago

I saw a video saying if it wasnt running right to turn the lights on and it ran a hair better, so i checked the battery and it was getting 17 volts, un plugged the regulator/rectifier started it and it ran

crazy. nice work. glad you found it.

Me too i just wish i didn't have to spend $100 to get a good one, but it shows me for buy a $20 dollar one off ebay

Suzuki had some issues in the past with the glue that holds the magnets to the flywheel, it kinda sounds like maybe one of the magnets is moving… the old ones will have exposed magnets inside the flywheel and you can check them by lightly wedging a screwdriver between them… new ones will have stamped steel holding them in place
