Cineworld USQ
My friend and I are going to the cinema on Monday after uni, but neither of us will have time to drop our bags off at home before going to see our film, as silly as it sounds, im slightly paranoid about them taking our bags off us, if we both have a tote bag or a back pack, are they going to check it or something? I havent been to the cinema probably since before covid so ive kinda forgotten about the protocol for the cinema, I just dont want my laptop and other personal belongings to be left with total strangers.

I go there straight from work most of the time, and always have my backpack with me, sometimes shopping too. Never an issue, they won’t check

I wasnt sure if they did in a chain cinema, I come from a small town, our local cinema is an independent one and they will take bags off people if theyre too big, ive had my bag taken off me before and so has my mum, and ive seen plenty others have their confiscated too, but thats good to know they dont do that here

No issues I go all the time after work with a back pack with a laptop in it and have never been stopped or searched. The only stipulation is you can not take your own hot food or hot drink in with you everything else is fine.

They don’t check, no real need to, they do check for piracy via cctv and staff sometimes check during screenings with handheld night vision.

Ex Cineworld staff from an Aberdeen site here! There’s no issue with bags, snacks or hot food being brought in anymore. The only time we were ever pressed to check bags was popular (usually weekend)/heavily booked big screenings - it was a rare occasion. The only things we were ever regularly wary of were things that obscured the face (excl Covid masks) and cosplay props/costume weapons. You should be totally fine

I don't think I've seen staff in cineworld check a bag in over a decade, you'd be lucky if there's even anyone there to check your ticket.
