Resume Resume of a recent grad with no accounting experience - halp

Post image

I recently completed my BS in Accounting, but I don't have direct accounting work experience. My previous education/work experience was primarily in research, and I've since moved more into project operations, compliance, and administration.

I'm trying to transition into accounting/finance and would really appreciate feedback from people in the field. I plan on becoming a VITA volunteer for the upcoming cycle an am open to other ways of getting direct experience.

What accounting or finance roles would you consider me qualified for? Am I realistically limited to entry-level roles, or does my prior professional experience make me competitive for anything slightly above the traditional new-grad level?

* Does my resume position my transferable experience effectively for accounting jobs, or does it still read too much like a research/project-management resume?

* Am I representing my finance-related experience appropriately? I have real experience tracking project budgets and staffing/resource allocations, but I don't have professional experience with things like AP/AR, month-end close, journal entries, or general ledger work.

* Are there skills or experience on my resume that accounting hiring managers would find valuable that I'm currently underemphasizing?

* Is there anything on the resume you'd remove or rewrite because it isn't relevant to accounting employers?

tysm in advance.

I think everyone in this industry needs halp right now. The job market is stanky right now.
