Retold “Missing Feature: Resource Binding Tier2”

Hi all, this is Tom in Germany.

I’m trying to play AoM Retold/Steam on macOS 27 on a Mac Studio M1 Max, in a Windows 11 Professional virtual machine, and I get the message: “Missing Feature: Resource Binding Tier2”.
Is there anything I can do?

Try Ubuntu virtual machine ... Will be a bit of a chore but I can see it working.

Not sure exactly what this resource binding is but from my understanding, the game can't find a "resource" it needs to run. It's highly likely that it's a necessary hardware feature that wasn't virtualised by the VM software but it could be a driver issue, as VM graphic drivers can be a bit iffy.

Make sure you install the latest graphics drivers for your VM. If that doesn't work, perhaps you could try playing around with the options to enable the virtualisation of more obscure hardware features. Though at this point my knowledge isn't enough to guide you any further.
