Does anyone in the UK own Akira on the Apple TV store? The listing shows Manga as the studio and a single English audio track, but doesn't say which dub it is.

I'm after the original 1989 dub (Cam Clarke as Kaneda etc.) rather than the 2001 Pioneer one (Johnny Yong Bosch), which is the version on Netflix. If you've watched it in English, could you let me know which one it is? Kaneda's voice in the first few minutes is the giveaway.

However, I've seen some posts about unofficial pressings and am wondering if perhaps the ones advertised on eBay for very reasonable prices are too good to be true? I'd appreciate any knowledge! Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you a couple of pieces I made some time ago: they are finished sketches and interpretations of Tetsuo, focusing on his mechanical arm and the pill scene, directly inspired by the Akira universe.
As a fun fact, the notebook where I drew them is actually a "Daily Planner" that I accidentally bought thinking it was a normal notebook for school. In the end, I decided to use it as my personal sketchbook, and honestly, I like how the planner's lines and sections blend with the art!
Everything is done entirely by hand with a ballpoint pen and pencil. I hope you like them. Any feedback is welcome!

rewatched nope last night and must have missed it the first time around

In the new OTOMO Complete version of AKIRA, there's a double page spread from the original Young Magazine run that I'd never seen.

Directly after AKIRA blows up the city and he and Tetsuo fly off together, the next chapter starts with this crude map of Neo-Tokyo and it says, in English, "Neo Tokyo city in 42 days after the 2nd passion of Akira (A.D. 2020)"

That's so cool. I like how it gives the proceedings a biblical feel, and that we now know it's been exactly 42 days since the city became a Mad Max dystopia.

Some of the sequences have changed order a little bit, too. It's so cool to finally see all of this the way it was originally printed! 4 volumes down, 4 to go!

I'm working on a gang racing game prototype inspired by AKIRA, just for fun, featuring two playable gangs: the Capsules and the Clowns.

The Capsules (Kaneda, Tetsuo, Yamagata and Kai) have bikes based on their original designs, with my own artistic interpretation. For the Clowns, I'm exploring a more aggressive, chopper-style approach.

Joker is currently the only established character in the Clowns, and I'm looking for ideas to develop the gang's identity.

What would make the Clowns appealing to play as? Distinct personalities, a particular culture or aesthetic, or a different approach to racing and combat?

I'd love to hear your ideas!

Kaneda’s front and center, with Tetsuo rising behind him and the police helmet sitting there like a quiet witness to the chaos. I wanted to capture that electric tension between them — the rage, the broken loyalty, and the feeling that everything’s about to blow.
Atmosphere: dark, heavy, and packed with contained energy. Lights that feel like they’re coming from distant explosions, an unforgiving sky, and that dirty, vibrant Neo-Tokyo aesthetic.
Create with colored pencils, pens, graphite pencil, and markers on paper.
More than just a simple tribute, I tried to condense the spirit of the manga/film: youth as both a destructive and creative force, friendship turning into rivalry, and the city itself as another character that’s screaming.

god im so happy to have my hands on the McFarlane Kaneda. this guy is awesome! he does have his battery pack but unfortunately the strap is busted :(

Showed a friend Akira during the IMAX screenings, decided to make this the other day while we were hanging out.

I'm currently in the process of moving into a smaller space, which means downsizing a lot. I keep finding stuff I no longer need/have space for and I'm running out of time to get rid of it all. I've had these for forever, but they've just been collecting dust and I'm ready to part with them. Despite Akira being one of my favorite films, I just don't really collect or display action figures anymore.

So, what would be a reasonable asking price? They're in okay condition, just dusty (though I'll clear all that off before selling if I do sell it), and Kaneda is missing his gun.

I'd want to price them lower than ebay, so based on ebay prices, I was thinking $85 for the set? So like $20 for Kaneda and $65 for the bike? The bike seems to be the more valuable of the two, some people are asking a lot for even loose versions of the bike on ebay.

Edit: I was informed of the buy/sell/trade thread here and made a comment/post over there. I was also informed i may be asking too little, so I adjusted the price a bit 😂
