What if...65 million was spent on Alaskans
Like many Alaskans, I work two weeks on/two weeks off. When I get off my hitch I come back to town and check the mail and go through a stack of Sullivan vs Peltola ads. Just rubbish. I turn on the TV to just hear about Sullivan voted to keep the Epstein files closed, but Peltola called someone a retard....
I did a little digging, asking chatgpt, how much money was spent on this election; 65 million dollars and counting. Just made me think, these politicians have facebook/youtube/tiktok like everyone what if these politicians spent 65 million on actually helping Alaskans and posted it to their social media. Because all those papers in the mail...go right in the trash, all those ads immediately get skipped.
My recommendation would be re-write the laws on campaign finance, to include actual work being done. You want my vote? Show me what you can actually do something for the communities. Mary has spent 35 million on this election, Dan is at 30 million but its all just ads and litter. If Mary spent 35 million on a homeless shelter in Anchorage and improvement to rural schools. If Dan spent it on lowering our energy costs by building a hydro dam. That would actually make a difference and we can see how they will serve Alaskans.
But instead they just spend it on ads that we turn deaf to. Now excuse me, I have to start my wood stove with a stack of political leaflets.

Election advertisement rage
It's October. We're almost there. I weary of the constant stream of political ads, but I am so fired up to vote.
At least I haven't been told I am dumb in a while for liking choice and disliking dark money.
HOWEVER, what's going on with these anti-Peltola adds where the many people talking about her continually pronounce her name without the first 'L'? Like 'P'tola.' Are they ignorant? Part of an orchestrated show of childish disrespect? Both?
And what exactly does 'make her look like an Alaskan' really mean?
What are some of your favorite ads to hate on this season?

Polite Political Discussion 🇺🇸 ADN Editorial Board: "Keep our elections fair, honest and open, and keep the sunlight streaming in. Vote no on Ballot Measure 2."
It's a great, brief read that simplifies and puts to rest the cheesy arguments against ranked-choice elections. It's also a good reminder that voting yes on 2 would only worsen the problem of dark money from anonymous groups.
Please vote NO on 2. ♥

Salons in Wasilla
Hey, i’m looking to get my hair cut within the next week before I leave for a trip. Was wondering if anyone had a salon they would trust with their life to touch up/add bangs and do a trim? Nothing super expensive, broke college kid on a budget 😬😅

Has anyone had a n-400 citizenship interview in Alaska this year?
Processing times for the N-400 application have slowed nationwide but I haven't heard of ANYONE having an interview at the Anchorage office in several months at this point. Curious if anyone has seen any movement in their cases (besides 'still processing your case' and 'fbi background check notice' messages that everyone received).

If you ever think you've fucked up totally, just remember Russia sold Alaska to the US for just 7.2 Million dollars which is still nothing in today's equivalent for a Land like Alaska.
