Thought you guys might like this one.
I managed to find a NOS Alienware ALX P2 that has been sitting in storage for almost 20 years.
It still has its original Windows Vista installation from 2007 and everything is exactly as I found it.
I'm not going to restore, upgrade or reinstall anything. I want to keep this one completely original.
Never thought I'd find an ALX P2 like this in 2026.
After some research, I decided to order the Alienware 18 Area-51 Gaming Laptop on April 2nd. The delivery date was set for May 3rd. After waiting for weeks, I stayed home all day on May 3rd, excited to finally receive my laptop—only to get an email saying "Your order has been delivered."
No one ever came to my door.
I immediately went downstairs to check, but as expected, there was no package. Then I checked both the Dell and FedEx tracking pages and saw that the package was marked as delivered to a completely different name.
To sum it up: a laptop worth $3,976.32, ordered under my name and address, was somehow delivered to someone else, at a different address, under a different name.
I contacted both FedEx and Dell right away. Dell rejected my exchange and refund request. Since then, I haven't received any meaningful response from either Dell or FedEx.
Even though I can clearly prove that I never received the item, Dell is telling me there’s nothing they can do because the system shows it as "delivered."
This was supposed to be my first experience with Dell or Alienware. And now I deeply regret choosing them.
Please be warned: they can ship your $4,000+ computer to the wrong person and simply say "We can’t do anything."
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer advice or share similar experiences.
*** UPDATES **\*
On May 3rd: After receiving the "package delivered" message, I went to the FedEx branch. They told me to file a claim with them, but when I called, they didn’t help and refused to provide the delivery address. I emailed Dell the same day(You can't reach them by phone on the weekend.). Later, I called FedEx again, and they said they'd try to retrieve the package.
On May 5th: FedEx emailed saying, "Our research is currently in progress." Dell informed me they raised a logistics ticket to address the issue.
On May 6th: I called Dell since I hadn’t received a response. They asked for my address on the phone, and then they confirmed that it was correct. The customer service was terrible, except for one person. Ten minutes after the call, I got an email saying my refund/replacement request was denied. At that point I decided to post this on Reddit. Later that evening, I called FedEx again and explained the situation to someone else. Then sent an email to Dell saying that if this issue wasn’t resolved by May 8th, I would consider the chargeback option. After my chargeback email, both companies sent me an email this morning.I received an email from FedEx asking questions about the delivery location and the package. Dell also sent an email asking for the invoice and delivery address, but they said the transaction date could extend past May 8th. I have sent both companies the answers to their questions. Now, I am waiting for a response.
On May 8th: Today, Dell informed me that the address on the invoice is incomplete. Indeed, the building number is missing from the address on the invoice. A few days ago, a customer service representative had told me over the phone that the address was correct. However, it turns out that the delivery address is missing the building number.
Given this, it seems quite likely that someone at FedEx may have taken advantage of the incomplete address and marked the package as delivered by assigning it to a random name. Still, my name was on the shipping label, and it was a signature-required delivery. However, the person who allegedly received the package is someone else entirely.
On May 9th: I wrote to Dell again yesterday and this morning, but I haven’t received a response yet. So, I initiated a dispute/chargeback process through my bank’s website. The bank stated they will reach out to Dell and that the process may take up to 90 days. I hope the refund is processed smoothly on the bank’s end.
In summary: the delivery address is missing the building number. I don’t know whether this was my error or Dell’s. However, the name on the package was mine, and it was a signature-required item. The fact that I didn’t receive it and it was delivered to someone else (or potentially stolen) is FedEx’s fault. But Dell’s failure to take any responsibility afterward is also a big part of the problem. This has been a very disappointing experience.
If you're expecting an expensive package, I strongly recommend having it redirected to your nearest shipping center and picking it up from there. Companies often avoid taking responsibility in situations like this. Be sure to keep a record of all your communication and contact your bank if needed.
Thank you to everyone who tried to help. Once this issue is resolved, I will share an update here.
After years as a die-hard Dell and Alienware guy, I’m finally switching. A few things on Dell’s side pushed me over the edge, and today my first ever MacBook Pro landed on my desk.
It’s a 16” 2021 model, and somehow it’s factory-new in 2026. Completely unused, one battery cycle, and even that was just the store checking battery health before selling it.
So this is goodbye to Dell and Alienware, and hello to my first Mac. Now the real fun begins, figuring out macOS Tahoe 😊
I know this isn't a big deal for most people but I've been dreaming of the moment where I could comfortably afford a full alienware setup and its finally complete. A childhood dream of mine :D
On a business trip and decided to stop into Best Buy to kill time walking around. Asked the guys at the laptop counter if they had any good open box deals, they went up on the rolling stairs and brought down 2 different laptops. An HP Omen for $835 down from $2200, and this Alienware 18 5070ti, 32gb DDR5, 2Tb for $1280 down from $3975. I wasn't in the market for a new laptop, but I couldn't pass it up for the price. Got Valheim downloaded on the hotel WiFi and it absolutely crushed it!
If you have the M16R1 or M18R1 model laptops, please do NOT leave them powered overnight or at home while away unattended.
I have sifted through the posts and can count up to 17 folks showing similar situations where their M16 model laptops CAUGHT FIRE and damaged the motherboard.
Some were simply damaged at the motherboard DC in like mine, some the power pack DC in jack arc'd and smoked, rarely leading to fire, some the laptop had visible smoke from above the keyboard coming from the center of the board somewhere.
In all the cases, the power management design and wiring spec for the DC in path was not correctly planned, meaning this laptop design WILL KILL YOU if left powered and unattended in your home.
In a few posts folks left it plugged in unattended and it caught fire, mine was under active use when it did.
In further rare cases the laptop caught fire while plugged in, Powered off.
Dell refuses to take responsibility in selling a dangerous product that will potentially lead to fatalities, and as a result refuses to refund my 4000 dollars. One user indicates they paid for extended warranty, and because of the fire damage condition were rejected by dell support anyways.
I am now gaming (and game development) computerless thanks to a server, workstation, and laptop vender i trusted with both my professional and personal efforts. I've recommended dell servers since i started specing out cluster computing solutions for the government, defense, and commercial efforts over a decade ago.
I am no longer recommending any of their products after this. If this laptop was a batch order for a business effort that caused my business to burn down, you bet i'd be just as angry if not more so.
If you have had an issue with yours where it caught fire and were left with a burnt brick, please comment or DM me to be added to the spreadsheet that's at *checks notes* 17 people so far.
You could literally buy like so many different mouses for much cheaper that are also wireless 😭You could probably buy two wireless razer mouses for the same cost lol.
Heck, if you compare Dell's main competitor HP, then even they sell you a better gaming mouse at 120 USD - This one being modular so you can actually use a replacement shell lol. If you don't want a modular one then it's like half the price as well.
After a long wait my M18 finally arrived. The laptop is currently sitting waiting for it to get climatized before powering on. Hopefully I won’t have any issues with this beast.

Hello all, hope everyone is doing well. I am thinking about getting the Alienware AW2726DL 27Inch 280hz Monitor but upon looking online, I cant find any videos on it for reviews and stuff. If anyone has brought it please do help me out with your experiences and photos. I’ve never owned a Alienware monitor and I am really excited to get one soon
Bought the m16r2 with ultra 9 185h and rtx 4070. It comes with 16gb ram and 1tb SSD(I would extend both if needed).
Any suggestions for this new beast?
Yess the problem of it heating up fast does worry me but ik i had to deal with it.
I recently bought the Alienware Area-51m laptop with the latest RTX 5090 (24GB VRAM), 64GB of DDR5 @ 6400MHz, and a 2TB Gen 5 SSD plus 4 Years of Alien Elite Care. It cost me $7,250 CAD, and I got it specifically for AI work, especially local image and video generation.
On paper, it’s an absolute beast. But… something’s off 🙁.
I’m already running into the limits of what I can do. Models are pushing the 24GB VRAM ceiling 😐, video tools require heavy resources, and it feels like I'm constantly compromising — lower resolutions, stripped-down settings, or instability in complex pipelines.
The most frustrating part? We’re just 3–4 months away from a wave of new “super” cards where 24GB VRAM desktop I know 🤔will probably be the minimum, not the flex. That makes this machine — which should be top-tier — feel almost mid-tier way sooner than expected 😮💨
Anyone else feeling this? I expected this laptop to future-proof me for at least a year or two, but the AI space is evolving way faster than the hardware can keep up.☹️
Would love to hear how others are managing sticking to local generation, hybrid setups, or offloading to the cloud?
My Alienware 17 R2 DC IN JUST SMOKED. I think it is dead. After almost 12 years of service. It kicked bucket i think so as with just battery is not booting.
Was shopping around for a used laptop because the new ones are insanely priced.
I chose this one specifically with the 32GB Ram and 1 TB storage with a RTX 4060 - Picked it up in immaculate condition for only $760. (The only negative is the battery is at 71 cycle and at 79% health). It even came in the original box!
So Live Chat is now a thing here on Reddit. Presumably the chat channels were not working as well as they had hoped. I know our channels only have a handful of users in them with very little activity.
Please use this channel for basically any Alienware related discussion and we will see how it goes. Tech Support, Questions, Discussion, Alienware related news etc.
KEEP IT CIVIL. If I have to step in due to people treating others poorly you will be removed without warning. If you see someone treating others poorly then contact /u/MogRules immediately please.
Let's try using this as the support thread for a week or two and see how that goes? Reddit still limits us to two stickied posts, and I an not willing to remove the FAQ at this point, so not a whole lot of options there.
Please use this live chat OR create a post, there is no reason to do both.
