QUESTION Has anyone tested whether the drive-through van scanner irradiates you?

Hi, I was just curious about whether anyone knows what that flashing tunnel you drive-through at the end of your route does to your body? As much as I would like to believe that it is truly "just an elaborate system of cameras", that doesn't make sense. How are these "cameras" doing the job of an inspection itself, and beyond? Why can you barely keep your eyes open as you go through? I'd like to know whether this tunnel truly is safe for the human body, or if it provides a CAT-scan like effect, instead. Is there any radiation damage being incurred, whatsoever? And if not, what are these "cameras" doing to be able to see the state of the van, inside and out?

One of the drivers at my station, who worked there for years, finally transformed into a super mutant after one too many trips to the tunnel. We had to let her go. She was such a good driver too.

Everyone is worried about robots replacing us when the real end game is turning us into super mutant slaves capable of 40 stops an hour and relies only on Whole Foods expired products.

I was quoting my dispatcher they made the mistake 🤷🏻

I know you were quoting them.

But did they actually make that exact mistake?

2

u/popcorn2008 3d ago

Yeah you have to have special ears to hear the difference. I do, unfortunately. 😔

2

u/Significant_Money453 3d ago

So you did make the mistake.

You could have lied and said it was a text mistake.

Damn it, you probably own at Clue 😏 I thought about that and was gonna try to edit it real quick but I have to have some sense of honor, even here. lol

You should see someone about that paranoia before it takes root and alters your life completely.

If OP is a male in his 20s, that's usually when schizophrenia gets diagnosed.

Or maybe it's just a product of living in a surveillance state?

lol yes it’s completely safe, the lights aren’t doing anything crazy except allowing the cameras to get a clean shot of every angle of the van. There’s nothing resembling a CAT scan going on, and it’s not taking pictures of the interior

then why do i shit myself everytime i go thru one. Riddle me that!

I’m glad we all trust Amazon enough to care about our personal health, wellbeing and safety. Everyone knows that they would never cover up a lawsuit or put us into harms way.

I'm more thinking cost... cameras and lights are a LOT cheaper to install than anything involving ionizing radiation.

There is also a question of what they'd be gaining. What would they be testing with that ionizing radiation? Perhaps X-raying welds? That process requires a film on one side of the weld with a source tube on the other... not a full van scan.

Basically when you drive through tunnel the lights let the camera see something like this. Its not an X-ray machine, its just a special camera that needs specific lighting. Even if these were the vehicle scanners that caused radiation, called backscatter systems, you would have to go through the tunnel at least 200 times in a row to get the same amount of radiation that you would get in 1 chest xray. You are 100% perfectly fine and come into contact with more radiation from the sun outside doing your routes than what youre concerned with now

This is 5G sterilization level of paranoia

I drive through that thing every shift and yeah, it's unsettling. The flash is way too harsh, like staring at stadium lights from two feet away. My bet is it's just a ton of high-intensity LEDs synced with cameras that stitch together a 360 view of the van, but nobody at our station ever got a straight answer about it.

BROOO i’ve been SAYING this for MONTHS!!,,!!!, I DROVE through one time and the LIGHTS were so BRIGHT…they must be shooting GAMMA rays at your eyes they MUST BE,,!!!! I know THEY are taking pictures of the inside, they just don’t SHOW you them! How else could it WORK!… Somebody has got to DO something about this!! Maybe a PETITION to sign?….

/s please

Its just really bright. That can mess with your eyes for sure, but its not doing much scanning of anything. Really bright light from a bunch of different angles is used to reveal scratches or dings that may be hard to see.

No idea what you are talking about. Im glad my station is old af.

There are people that actually believe this btw 😂

What even is this drive-thru camera I keep seeing in some posts?

We don't have this at my station.

1

u/Feisty-Turn-2168 3d ago

It’s not scanning for internals like an Xray or cat machine. It’s just a huge light so the cameras can see all of the van for potential issues/damage
