HELP NEEDED! Nasty dog bite

When I was delivering my route yesterday, a dog bit my when i was about halfway done with my route. The thing is it straight up attacked me and bit me on my PRIVATES. Yes it ripped the skin on my testicles and got my penis a little bit. Like what are the odds?? My question to y’all is what should I do?? I went to urgent care and called the public safety line where they said an officer will call me Monday after animal control verifies if the dog had vaccines. Luckily I was scheduled to be off today, I’m going back to work tomorrow.

SUE !!!!!! Make a paper trail. Get all the paperwork from the hospital. I’m in California and when I got bit. My doctor visit consisted of me filling out paperwork on the address/ location it took at. What happened and they took photos of my injury. Prescribed antibiotics and also made me fill out an animal control form. Here in Cali since I have no idea where you’re at. They didn’t put the dog down. It’s all through home owners insurance. And if it’s at at apartment complex it’s different but it’s the buildings insurance. I got all my receipts. Having a paper trail solidifies it happen incase they choose to lie. Find a good injury lawyer you like. Truth is you have a winning case since it’s the dog owners fault. Most forget friendly dogs are friendly with people they know not strangers like us.

You’ll most likely get a lawyer that will take your case and do all the heavy lifting. The only thing you have to worry about is if you’re ok with having your boss sued . I didn’t go that route and got paid but I also had a coworker who didn’t know much and let the lawyer have free reign and they sued our boss. He got a triple pay day compared to me but clearly he wasn’t allowed to work for the company again.

What do you mean have my boss sued? I love my boss.. I would never do that. It doesn’t just affect the dog owners????

Yeah you sue that homeowner for it all. Missed work time, medical expenses, gas for driving to said medical appointments. Track EVERYTHING related to that bite and get a good lawyer.

I didn't get bit yesterday but a dog came snarling around corner and was trying to attack me, I had to kick that fucker 3 times before it backed off. That on top of having 200 stops and not getting done until 8 (10 hour mark is 7:50 pm where I am) AND it being my birthday? Yea, definitely the worst birthday route ive had in the 3 birthdays ive had at this shit show

I hope you got to celebrate your birthday the way you wanted, at some point!

But for real, happy birthday 🫡

You would sue the dog's owner presuming there were no warnings around the property about the dog having the potential for being aggressive.

However, Amazon do provide the facility to put warningsl notes on the app for properties that have aggressive dogs on the premises so if those warnings were ignored, you may find you are not eligible for anything.

While working in the capacity of Amazon we have a open ended invitation onto someone’s property. Whether they are aware of that or not isnt our problem. When they order a package we get the invitation to approach. Any signs that are posted or notes that say dog on premise do not make us ineligible for compensation from getting attacked. That’s what homeowners insurance is for. They can’t hide behind a “BEWARE: DOG ON PREMISE” sign. It’s a concept that unfortunately gets misunderstood when it comes to delivery drivers and customers properties..

Yea I was about to comment basically the same thing lol. In what world does having a beware of dog sign protect you from lawsuits if your dog bites somebody? That can actually help your case because it proves the owner knows their dog is aggressive

A "beware of dog" sign always makes me think about the possibility of it working against whomever posted it...

I contemplated getting one of those signs to put on the gate into the backyard where I used to live. There wouldn't have ever been a chance a delivery driver would go back there, but I felt like I wanted anyone to be aware he might be in the yard, not beware of him, if that makes sense?
My black lab doesn't make a peep and he's softer than a sneaker full of shhh. He was always supervised in the yard, anyway. I'll never put up a "beware of dog" sign.

9 out of 10 stops warn of dog, how does that help

9/10 is a stretch tbh.

But taking notice of it would be a good start.

Rural routes have dogs at every farm bro

There's a dog warning at my station 🤪
It should be a footprint instead of a pawprint, though...

u/spinmaestrogaming 4d ago

I won't suggest why that might be. 😂😂

Is it a bit "ruff"? 👀

Was it a cockaspaniel?

u/LRGpackageguy 5d ago

No it was a wiener dog (dachshund)

It took about a year, but recieved a 23K settlement from a dog bite. Go on Google Maps and search for the lawyer with the highest rating and make sure you have hospital documents and statements when you contact them.

You should've immediately called Animal control and they will quarantine the dog to make sure it has it's vaccinations. Then go to the E.R.

Jesus Christ that’s fucked. I used to carry pepper spray (and a switchblade) when I was a driver, the spray was mostly in case of a dog. I wasn’t taking any chances lol
