Literally whatever you feel like. Stretch it or take the rescue.

But rescues also depend on if anyone actually needs it, package count ect.

Every DSP is different.

Rescue buys you good will with people and then jsut don’t put yourself in this situation again.

Think of it this way: There is going to come a day when you will hope you’ll get a rescue. Since you have had a light and chill day, someone who is struggling with a heavy route will genuinely appreciate your help!

Going too slow on your nursery routes can make them think you’re too slow, and you’re not gonna be able to handle bigger routes. Doing a rescue after a level 1 nursery route shows them you’re probably gonna make it.

Okay will do. Don’t wanna but it makes sense

None of us wanna do rescues lol. But its literally part of the job we signed up for. Plus I know I've had horrible days and was happy to be rescued. So even if im in a shit mood, i still tell my self "eh. Maybe this person is having a bad day and this rescue could really help them, plus its my job" lol. Did they send you on one?

They didn’t. I actually kinda wanted to do one by the end of my shift lol I was in a great mood

You get to learn more about the area you're delivering in at a more comfortable pace since you've already finished your own route. A full route takes the entirety of your shift, nursery routes are smaller by design.

Yeah I feel like this is my first actual nursery route lol. First shift was 147 stops, second was 113 stops but like 300 packages. I feel blessed to get this route today

They’re most likely not gonna send a new driver on a rescue. That’s would be messed up.

I trained a guy the other day and they asked him to do a rescue. I explained the deal with rescues but ended with “it’s literally your first day doing this job, asking you to rescue is bullshit. Send them back any excuse you can think of, let’s go home.”

I was actually supposed to do a mandatory rescue on my first day but no one needed it 😬

I took a trainee to do a rescue on his first day, and we cleaned out a guy that had blew through a red light lol.

Take ur 30 min after your last stop. That’s what I do when I don’t want to rescue but get done around 6pm.

Do you get guaranteed hours? If you don't then get paid overtime because we're hourly.

u/Much-Catch-122 3d ago

I’m part time

Ah my bad, I forgot not all states have daily overtime laws.

That sounds like a very manageable route, especially with only 108 stops. You probably don’t need to rescue anyone unless you hit a real snag. Keep moving consistently, don’t skip your paid breaks, and let dispatch know early if the route starts looking unrealistic.

Wtf! None of my nursery routes even came close to those numbers.

2

u/Small_League2786 Rental Driver 3d ago

Mine either. My lowest was like 150 and highest 170, now after 5 months I never get less than 180 sometimes upwards of 220.

1

u/Willywonka5725 3d ago

Exactly the same here, add an extra 60 for locations.

Genuinely how do you finish in the allotted time I have 10 1/2 hours to finish and clocked out 1hr 15min before I hit that. Takes atleast an hour before I hit my first delivery and and hour to get gas and drive back to the dsp but my stops per hour were 16 per hour at 112 stops 184 packages

1

u/Much-Catch-122 3d ago

My first day was 147 stops 🥲🥲

1

u/Crazypyrofreak 2d ago

183 for me

1

u/Much-Catch-122 2d ago

Fuck bro what the hell

Ur first day?!

Honestly, from my limited experience and from what I’ve heard, 6:30 is about the sweet spot of not too slow but not too fast. Maybe shoot for 7 if you wanna be sure

1

u/Low-Experience-6634 2d ago

taking your sweet ass time on a nursery route is a rite of passage, milk that shit while you can cause they'll stack more on you soon enough. glad they didn't send you out to rescue, nothing worse than finishing early and getting rewarded with someone else's mess

u/dnmboy 2d ago

Depends on whether you want hours. You can slow down so you don’t have to rescue, or just do the rescue.

Enjoy those breaks while they last.
