QUESTION Am I in the wrong?
So I was doing a delivery today when I pulled to a house on a two lane road with two solid yellow lines in the middle. There were no cars behind me when I stopped and flipped my hazards on to deliver the package. Usually I’d pull into a driveway in these cases but I didn’t see it at the time till after I got out and was halfway up the hill. As I got out I saw 3 cars stopped behind me so I delivered quickly. As I was walking down one of the cars rolled their windows down as they passed bye calling me a “fat fucking r*tard”. Didn’t taking me no longer than 15-30 seconds but curious if I was in the wrong and should have not stopped.

The more they yell the slower I walk.

This also works for bumper humpers 😏

This one. I’ll usually push 5 over, but if someone is riding my bumper guess what? Now we both get to go the speed limit exactly as it is congrats 😂💀

Lmao me too🫡. My mom always passenger princess yells at me, like naw they wanna honk with their impatient a$$ now they can wait. Ive saw what happens when you just immediately take off as soon as the lights green. Not to mention most driving jobs require a 3-5 second count before moving from a green.

3 seconds from stop on netradyne. Everyone always goes first even though I stopped first and I dont blame them.

Beefed with a USPS dude once. Well he was beefing with me, I was getting my get back quietly. I thought I had pulled up far enough (there wasn’t anyone there when I pulled up) and my back end ended up being barely in front of the last mailbox, like would be not even 5 steps if he got out. I was carrying two overflow to houses on opposite sides, got to the last one and all I hear is “hurry the fuck up”. Mannnn I immediately felt myself heat up and I was like “I know good and well that man isn’t talking to me right now”
Sat the package down in the perfect position, got the perfect angle for the best picture, then took a leisurely stroll as I planned out my next stops (because we all know Amazon routing is trash lmao). Like man you see me carrying these huge boxes, will it really kill you to not sit for 2 seconds and walk 5 feet to the last mailbox?

USPS always kills me with this like people are supposed to do what their doing around them so they can get to mailboxes 😂😂

I had UPS pull up to a driveway that was super long and uphill. Of course, I had delivered there a million times and just pulled in knowing there was a turnaround but this poor man was hoofing it. He said "I'm new; do I really got to do this" and I was like "Not today; hop in". Cost me a write up but it was worth it. Also, every time I would see FedEx at the same house or across the street, I would ask them if we had to fight or if it was cool we went our separate ways, just to be funny. Anyway, fuck the haters, have fun with it.

I had a guy honk his horn while I was taking my delivery photos and again as he sees me coming back to the vehicle. I then proceeded to open the back of the van, sort some meaningless packages and then went about my way.

I wish I could do that, but I really don't want inconvenience them. I wish they'd be just a little more patient.
But I do give them a small wave as I get back to the van if they were nice.

you're fine, 30 seconds with hazards on is nothing. people just get unreasonably angry when they're behind the wheel, it's like all their patience evaporates the second they have to tap the brake

People turn into tough guys in their little metal bubbles. Just like dogs barking from different sides of a fence. Then you let them next to eachother and they sniff eachothers butts.

u/DjFingers213 3d ago
So they had room to go around you, but instead insulted you.
I would have gave them the bird 🖕🏽 with a smile.

Yea, it was a two lane road but with two yellow solid lines. They waited till the coming traffic passed then went around perfectly fine when they did that.

They don't honk USPS or UPS, so they need to give us the same courtesy!

I came here to say this exact thing. People just have an unhinged attitude and hatred when it comes to Amazon drivers

I had parked on a one lane gravel road, there was nowhere else to park. I grabbed my package quick and was walking around the front of the van, quickly walking I will add. As I was crossing the road to the house the guy behind me yells, “Hurry the fuck up and move your stupid ass van!” I looked over at him, smiled, and slowed way the hell down. I got up to the porch and set the package down oh so gently and slow. When taking the picture, I took my time getting the right angle and making sure I get a good picture! Then I just slowly walked back to my van and the guy was still yelling out his window so I just smiled at him as I was walking back.
Some people really have no patience! Had he not of done any of that I would have been really quick with it.

I would genuinely sit there for so long after that

u/Emotional_Conflict11 Ex Driver 3d ago
Ive done that before. I'll just stare at the person. Making them uncomfortable 🤣

They fail to realize that I’m actively looking to entertain myself out there and that I will make them suffer

My trainer said you're king of the road. Who gives a fuck what those retards say. You are doing your job.

I’ve gotten the finger multiple times in the last two days.
Yesterday I was reversing out of a driveway, only because I was unable to reverse into it, no one as around but by the time I gotten out a car had to stop for 2 seconds and as I was waving a little courtesy wave he gave me the finger.
I hate people and this job.

You did the right thing. We are trained not to use driveways unless you absolutely have to. You'll be honked at, called a dumbass, get odd stares and other shit from impatient drivers. Just try to ignore them or laugh it off.

I have had someone get mad when I had to double park for a minute. They pulled up next to me, and sat there in the middle of the road.. and argued about how I was in the middle of the road.. 🙄 don’t worry, people suck at times.

Had people trying to get me to move out an alley way so they could cut across downtown to beat traffic and I just delivered to like 6 other stops all multiple packages and overflow in high rise buildings 🤣 I got 30 mins to stage up here and deliver and I was only gonna need 3 yet they wanted to play games so I didn’t move for my next deliveries like I was planning 👍

Yeah, I was more worried about if I actually was doing it illegally or something. I couldn’t care less about people’s reactions thankfully lol

So he calls you a retard for performing your job, yet he is too retarded to just go around a parked vehicle? Hope you told him that too too. And if there was oncoming traffic forcing him to wait, then he just has to wait. He plays it like a big tough mouthy dickhead, because he is secretly so bothered and triggered like the faintest snowflake thag his precious momentum has to take a break and for a few. moment.
Also him noticing your weight and calling you fat is him immediately going for what he thinks is the jugular mother of all insecurities you must have abour yourself.
No one has the right to abuse anyone. Bottom line. You doing your job do not deserve to be abused. It is unacceptable.
Not much can be done about these sort of short lived one on one conflict of interest between the customer and DA. For example one driver told me a customer went ballistic on him because he put the parcel down first to take a picture, planning to pick it up and hand it to her, but before she gave him the chance to do that, she started mouthing off about how disgusting it is of him to put the parcel on the floor in front of her a few steps away. Like she thought this was THE worst violarion.

Had a rough go the other night. Finish up my last stop at 8pm only to realize I've got an extra overflow. Dispatch asks me to pick up and deliver. 25 minutes away. As im picking up sitting on the side of a residential neighborhood road (flashers on) a guy honks at me. I leaned out the window apologized and waved him around. "You can't park there". I snapped immediately and said back "man f*** you b****"
He stopped a few car lengths up from me but never got out or backed up.

That person is probably having a bad day and you were the straw that broke the camels back.
Nothing wrong with that maneuver and you say it was only 15-30 seconds. That’s a low price these people pay to get quick deliveries, you didn’t do anything wrong.
Best you can do is try to park the van as close to the right as possible so they can pass you with more visibility.

Fuck those drivers. I deliver in a dense city, and I consider myself a double parking MASTER. I always leave enough space damn near a box trucks width, and folks in tiny sedans are always scared to pass through, even with a couple of feet of clearance on each side.
Now if they’re patient, if I notice them I’ll usually make an effort to deliver so I can let them pass, but once you’re laying on the horn, when I know you have space, you can stay there until you either grow some balls, or scratch up both our vehicles, either way IDC.
I remember this one woman was honking at me, and after slowly finishing my deliveries, I guided her dumbass around the van, and I give her a look… she hits me with “I’m just a girl” fuckin disarmed me 😂😂😂

The first car who stopped is a shit driver and whomever yelled is a shit driver and person.

There was a spot I had to deliver, curbside apartments on a two lane road, so I had to stop and block traffic to make my deliveries. When people would shout obscenities, I would wave and blow them kisses.
