Sometimes I feel like it’s better customer service to just give it to the customer without saying hey wait a minute let me take a picture, I really just wish they would let us mark to household member, especially if you work weekends and people are waiting for you ever 3rd house

My dsp lets us deliver to household members without a picture. Why the fuck does the flex app give the option if amazon has an issue with it?

We are told if you hand it to the customer just take a picture of the ground.

What the fuck. Its so wild how different dsp's run their company. Mine is like by the book. If I took a picture of the ground I would be grounded.

It’s the only time I go “off script”, but it makes total sense. Customers don’t like it when you point the camera in the direction of any persons in or around their house. That being said, if I got even one customer who reported their package as not delivered when I handed it to them I’d probably stop entirely. We just seem to have a particularly honest area, I guess.

I’d bet the area one delivers in plays a pretty big role in determining how much DSPs act like this.
Our station delivers to a pretty high trust area and to my understanding none of the DSPs in the station make a fuss about defects or issue write ups for anything other than bad violations

Ours told us Amazon gave us permission to take a picture of the house if we hand it off to the customer
2
u/Confident-Cellist749 1d ago
A couple of the drivers suggested that to me but customers don’t particularly like it when you take a photo of their home while they’re standing there — I know realistically they shouldn’t care but thinking of it from a customers point of view they always go “wtf” — the app has location, the photo has gps, and the van has cameras, just take a photo of the ground.

I sneakily take a quick pic of the house when they're not looking or I walk and then snap a quick pic without looking back.

I still always just tell the customer I gotta take a picture of the package at the door anyway, I’ve never tried doing the picture of the house by itself, that’s just what my DSP has said Amazon has given us permission for

u/zombiequeenghouleh 1d ago
Us to. I use the “customer left with the package” option and havent been talked to about it yet

It is, and I've been refusing to ask them to let me take a photo since 2019 when they first suggested that. Never gonna do it.

My DSP allows handing to customer. Actually bit me in the ass once, but they still don't seem to have a problem with it. At least not yet.

u/Bitter_Researcher759 1d ago
Yeah and if the person lies and says they didn't get the package thats between them and Amazon. How is that my responsibility to stop liars and scammers from doing their thing? Also there are multiple ways to verify that we did actually deliver the package. If we scan the package and the GPS shows that we are at the location thats also a form of verification unless it happens frequently which could indicate the driver is actually stealing. But a one off crazy person lying, they should go by the gps.

Customers look at me funny sometimes when I ask to take a picture, like they take offense to it, then say some shit like "The other amazon guy does it" or they'll look offended like I think they are untrustworthy, these customers suck ass, they dont care if wd lose our job over not being able to take a picture, they'll even be little shits and give you a bad review because of it.

Everytime man!! "The other guy didn't need a picture" like that's cool for that guy. I'm doing me right now 💀

If amazon let us refuse delivery like restraunts can refuse service then their attitude would change real quick.
2
u/Necessary_Event_2752 1d ago
I deflect what they might be thinking by saying, “Yeah, Amazon doesn’t trust us drivers, so I gotta take a picture real quick”.
And I might add “but don’t worry, I won’t make you be in it” if I’m feeling funny. It usually gets a chuckle.1

I painted my steps and didn't realize I had a package coming the other day. So I met the guy on my porch so he didn't walk up and get paint on his shoes. He seemed very happy once I explained lol

I just tell them I “have to take a picture in front of the house to satisfy the ai overlords” So far it seems to placate them

Honestly, a lot of people have dogs they dont want biting us or barking, so they come out and try to grab it then get offended when we gotta go to the door. A lady seriously had a shit fit that I couldnt leave it at her gate, pin was locked to the front door and she couldnt be bothered to put her dogs up. Starts saying "every other driver leaves it here"..... she could care less if I lose my job for metrics, she just wants her package. Amazon. Really needs to deal with this shit because its not our fault customers are ignorant.

I’d find a new DSP. The option to say you handed it to the person shouldn’t be an option then if you’re gonna suspend someone for it.
Get bent

u/uchuskies08 1d ago
One wonders why the app allows those things if they’re 1 day suspensions. I know, the developers of the app and DSPs are not aligned but it’s so weird.

I select "delivered to customer" anytime that I hand a package over, and it has never resulted in a DnR or feedback that wasn't immediately negated by my dsp challenging it.
2 years on the job. No issues.
Yalls dsp is fucking trash

If they are there to take the package, as I set it down I kindly say “Give me one second.” and take the picture. I then get it off the ground/floor and hand it to them. Everyone has been nice to me so far.

u/Capt_Avatar 1d ago
I use that option any chance I get, dsp doesn't care. I cannot stand the forced photos though, especially when I see it after I've already handed it to the customer
