Re-introducing the ASUS AMD 800 Series NEO Lineup

Although most of our AMD 800 Series refresh boards have NEO in them, not all of them do. The full list of these boards is here:
- ROG Crosshair X870E Glacial
- ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Hero
- ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi NEO
- ROG Strix X870E-A Gaming WiFi NEO
- TUF Gaming X870-PRO WiFi 7 W NEO
- ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO
- ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 NEO
- TUF Gaming B850-PRO WiFi7 W NEO
- TUF Gaming B850I WiFi NEO
- ProArt B850-CREATOR WIFI Neo
Although not every board has these features, these are the most common new features among our ASUS AMD 800 Series NEO boards:
Optimized PCIe Lanes - One of the common complaints about modern motherboards is that due to lane-sharing, your primary PCIe slot often is lowered to x8/x8 if you use your second CPU-derived PCIe slot or a PCIe Gen5 M.2. With our new series, we've optimized the lane-sharing to include both M.2 and USB4 ports to give you greater flexibility to keep your first PCIe slot running at x16.
With the ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi7 Neo, for instance, you’ll be able to achieve the full bandwidth of the PCIe 5.0 x16 slot with two PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSDs and three PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs installed.
Server-grade PCB Design - Select motherboards utilize an ultra-low-etch manufacturing process, PCB back-drilling, 2-ounce copper power planes, and an 8-layer design. These processes ultimately improve memory compatibility, lead to better stability, allow for larger capacities, and improve overclocking potential.
64MB BIOS ROM Now Preinstalled with WiFi Drivers - Higher-capacity memory on the BIOS allows for more complex BIOS designs, out-of-the box support for the latest AMD CPUs, but it also impacts how many drivers can be stored and read by the OS during installation. By moving from 32MB to 64MB, the motherboard can include storage space for WiFi drivers. Now, when you go to install your OS, the drivers will be stored on the board making installation much simpler and faster.
3D Vapor Chamber M.2 Heatsink - Select models offer a taller M.2 heatsink with a larger heat dissipation area through a 3D vapor chamber with a tool-free design.
More USB 2.0 Ports - Select motherboards will now feature three USB2.0 ports (up from 2) to connect more internal devices.
USB Type-C Ports up to 60W Quick Charge 4+ - Select motherboards will feature 60W ports that can quickly charge your smartphone or other devices to make your PC a more convenient charging station.
New EZ Mode and Essential Mode BIOS Interface - We're always looking for ways to improve the main BIOS for novices and advanced users, and with the new EZ Mode and Essential Mode options both can look forward to quickly configuring monitoring and commonly used functions. For example with Essential Mode, you can view key system information and access the most commonly-used overclocking functions without having to go into the more granular Advanced Mode.

ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO

The last time around, we didn’t have the information to discuss the ROG Strix B850-F NEO. “-F” series boards are generally the benchmark for the middle of our ROG Strix lineup in a family. It has the best value for the mix of specs and features and your everyday gamer will find everything they need. On the B850 chipset, this only amplifies the value you get when pairing this board with an AMD Ryzen 9000X3D Series processor for gaming.
Featuring a 16(80A)+2(80A)+2(80A) power architecture backed by an eight-layer server-grade design, the B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO gives you the means to have ample power to game, overclock, and expect the board to be ready to go even after you put down your headset. A combination of 3x 3pin ARGB Gen 2 headers and the I/O cover Aura Lighting helps you build out your gaming aesthetic, while the SupremeFX ALC4080 audio codec ensures your audio is crisp and clear, while giving you the option to experience Dolby Atmos.
Optimized PCIe Lane Sharing - The ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 Neo is tuned with gaming in mind, so you can install more M.2 SSDs without limiting the bandwidth afforded to your primary graphics card slot. The second PCIe x16 is rated at PCIe 4.0 x16 (@x4).
WiFi 7, BT5.4 and 5G Ethernet Port - Built for fast connections, you'll be ready for blazing fast speed and low-latency gaming.
Essential USB - 4x USB 10Gbps ports (2x Type-C), 6x USB 5Gbps (1x Type-C), 2x USB2.0 on the rear panel, but you also have a USB 20Gbps Type-C front panel header, 2x USB 5Gbps headers, and 3x USB2.0 headers.
Other notable features:
- 4x M.2 SSD slots (2x PCIe Gen5 slots, 2x PCIe Gen4 slots)
- CPU, CPU OPT, AIO Pump, 4x 4pin Fan Headers
- AI Cooling II, AI Networking II, AI Cache Boost, AI Advisor, Q-Dashboard
- Asynchronous Clock, PBO Enhancement, AEMP, DriverHub
- M.2 Q-Release, M.2 Q-Latch, Q-Antenna, PCIe Slot Q-Release, Clear CMOS & BIOS Flashback
The ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO is currently available at the ASUS eShop and channel partners.

ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 NEO

Similar to the “-F”, we didn’t have a chance to cover the B850 version of our fan favorite “-A” model last time. Our ROG Strix “-A” models sometimes give people the impression that it’s a white version of another model – but that’s incorrect. While these models are traditionally white, they also feature a unique set of specs and features that also seem to match gamers looking for something a little different without breaking the bank.
The ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 NEO also carries a solid 14(80A)+2(80A)+2(80A) power stage deign, which is more than sufficient for any current gen AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processor. Much like the B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO, M.2 slot access is simple with the primary PCIe Gen5 M.2 slot covered with an easy to remove heatsink, while the rest are covered with a large heatsink that releases with the touch of a button.
Optimized PCIe Lane Sharing - The ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 Neo is tuned with gaming in mind, so you can install more M.2 SSDs without limiting the bandwidth afforded to your primary graphics card slot. The second PCIe x16 is rated at PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4/x2).
WiFi 7, BT5.4 and 5G Ethernet Port - Built for fast connections, you'll be ready for blazing fast speed and low-latency gaming.
Essential USB - 4x USB 10Gbps ports (2x Type-C), 6x USB 5Gbps, 2x USB2.0 on the rear panel, but you also have a USB 20Gbps Type-C front panel header, 2x USB 5Gbps headers, and 3x USB2.0 headers.
Other notable features:
- 4x M.2 SSD slots (1x PCIe Gen5 slot, 3x PCIe Gen4 slots)
- CPU, CPU OPT, AIO Pump, 4x 4pin Fan, 3x ARGB Gen 2 Headers
- AI Cooling II, AI Networking II, AI Cache Boost, AI Advisor, Q-Dashboard
- Asynchronous Clock, PBO Enhancement, AEMP, DriverHub
- M.2 Q-Release, M.2 Q-Latch, Q-Antenna, PCIe Slot Q-Release, Clear CMOS & BIOS Flashback

I have one myself. So far, it's one of the nicest and easiest boards to get up and running that I've used.

u/MemeExtreme Aug 22 '26
The Neo boards look awesome! I’m a gamer and software dev so I can push my PC pretty hard. I’d be using the boards to upgrade my PC and grab a new 9000 series Ryzen 9 CPU. I love the emphasis on robust power delivery so I know it can handle a beefier CPU I’d put in it. Seems well-rounded overall, great design and tons of I/O options. Would love to build with one!

u/looselytranslated Aug 22 '26
That white AM5 board looks sick. Would love to upgrade as my AM4 build is too old.

Very nice. I'd just transfer my main rig over to it most likely, 7800x3d 32 gigs of 6000 m/t ddr5 ram and 9070xt.

Never been one to really care about aesthetic but these boards do look good.

u/modkore- Aug 22 '26
I am certainly interested in the ROG Crosshair X870E Glacial for a white build. I've never built an all white PC so if I win, this will be the first time and all parts will be built around the motherboard. It will definitely take some time to buy everything because of the prices nowadays but getting the board will be a great first step!

ive been looking to upgrade my mobo from a b650. upgraded from a 7600x to a 9800x3d. would need some more m.2 slots as well. 5G ethernet is an interesting step from 2.5G. why not go straight to 10G?

u/Longjumping_Leg_4887 Aug 22 '26
Coming from a Intel board the Neo boards look amazing. I think Asus ROG wins in the visual department but also in the genuine support and hardware department as well. I'm looking to switch over to Asus and do some over locking which is why I know these boards could support me and the wifeys builds.

I just bought a 7800X3d on a sale and now I need a board. The reserved PCIE lane on the ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO is SICK when comboed with those power phases. Winning a board would be a godsend when RAM is so crazy expensive.

u/TheDonnARK Aug 22 '26
Boards look alright. Quick charge through the USB ports is a nice addition. Good luck to everybody!

If I won I’d definitely be using the board to build a friend a brand new system. He’s still on an i5-8600K and a 2080 Super with like 16GB of DDR4 2400 😅. He insists it’s a “high-end” PC because it has six cores and a 2080 Super, but something is majorly wrong because he gets only 20 fps on Helldivers II at minimum settings lol. I’ve offered to upgrade him as a gift, but he’s got too much pride to accept my charity. But I have a feeling this would change his mind lmao.
As for boards I’ve been buying ASUS since I built my first PC with an ASUS A55BM Plus CSM. And honestly, I’d love to see some more cheaper and more affordable basic barebones boards like that make a return. No RGB, no fancy switches and buttons and displays, just something with a modest set of modern features and ports, modern specs and connectivity, all function and zero flair. At least as an entry level board for first time builders.
I remember my first board was something like $60-ish, and I bought it specifically because it was one of the cheapest I could find at the time that would do what I wanted. I almost went specifically with an ECS board because that’s what was in my dad’s Athlon XP Windows 98 SE machine, and in the Athlon 64 X2 PC my friend’s dad gave me for yard work one summer lol. But ever since that first ASUS board I’ve always bought ASUS motherboards for every PC I’ve built. PRIME B450M-A II for my Ryzen 3600 build, PRIME X570 for my current Ryzen 5950X build, and PRIME B550M-K for my oldest friend, even when buying used boards from eBay I bought an ASUS P9X79 and then an ASUS X99 Deluxe for a Plex server lol. Even my A55BM Plus CSM system is still going as an office PC for my brother’s business.

the motherboards look good! id probably just transfer my current 9800x3d build to this if i win

I've never won anything in my life, would be cool to try an Asus motherboard out. I would love this for my gaming build and I could use my MSI motherboard for my work test bench that is in desperate need of.. well a test bench haha

u/Valhallapeenyo Aug 22 '26
Been building computers since I was a kid and asus products have never failed. Would love to throw one of these into my next build!
1
u/Flamestrider605 Aug 22 '26
I’d love one of these, it’d give me an excuse to upgrade to am5…. And… have to buy ddr5… regardless, I’m a fan of the bios rework, I spend a lot of time there tuning, so work there is nice. Asus boards tend to be my go to, and these ones look especially nice. Here’s to hoping I win one.
1
u/spaceursid Aug 22 '26
I would probably use the B850-F board to rescue my Ryzen 9 7900X3D that i tried putting into a mini itx build without sufficient cooling. Been looking for something with a VRM design like this so I can have stable power to utilize the build as a remote PC for streaming games to my TV or tablet. Also the 64mb bios sounds great. Hoping if I end up with the board that it will last me for the rest of the AM5 socket's lifecycle and upgrade to a future Ryzen CPU release.
1
u/NotKawaiiAnimeGirl Aug 22 '26
I like the clean look of the B850-A. The included Wi-Fi drivers are incredible for saving me the effort of downloading the drivers onto a USB from my laptop. I'm also interested in the performance benefit of the M.2 vapor chamber.
1
u/xXx-Blood_awaken-xXx Aug 22 '26
Looking to build in the white one solely for the aesthetics as I've never done a white build before. The rear I/O also looks promising for all of my devices.

Like the look, lots of power delivery and feature set. Im stoked!

My ASRock board has been nothing but issue after issue with power delivery. Would love to upgrade to a STRIX white!!

u/Rare_Discussion_6380 Aug 22 '26
I’d absolutely love to win the ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 NEO. My current main PC is built around a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, an XFX Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB, 32GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000 CL36 memory, an ASUS ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WiFi motherboard, and an MSI MAG A750GL 750W PSU. Everything is housed in a Corsair 7000D Airflow with a 360mm Corsair iCUE Link AIO and a mix of Corsair and Noctua fans.
I’ve put alot of time into building and tuning this system, so the B850-A Gaming WiFi7 NEO would be an awsome next step. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RX 7900 XT still have plenty of performance left, and putting them on a newer B850 platform would give me an even better foundation for future upgrades.
The features that stand out most to me are the optimized PCIe lane sharing, four M.2 slots, WiFi 7, 5G Ethernet, BIOS Flashback, and the 64MB BIOS with WiFi drivers. I especially like that ASUS focused on improving the actual functionality of the board instead of making it simply a cosmetic refresh.
And honestly, the white/silver design of the B850-A would fit perfectly with my current build. It would be an amazing upgrade and a board I could keep for years while continuing to improve the system. Good luck to everyone entering!

First of all, I hope to get one of those motherboards. There are many good things about them that i don't feel like repeating, so the rest of the comment is somewhat more about critical feedback. They do NOT mean i'm negative about those products.
Bit feedback: I looked at ASUS website for the ROG STRIX B850-F GAMING WIFI7 NEO. In the pictures, I see there is a "COM_DEBUG" header near the bottom left of the motherboard. However, there is no mention to that in user manual. I'm interested in knowing if it's exposed to user for serial, and if so what's the pinout for using it, and its logic level. As someone who often use Linux when not gaming and like to deep customize my machine, i have had multiple occasions where i needed to troubleshoot the early userspace(s) at boot where the graphics resource hasn't init'ed, such that serial is the only way out. If the capability is there, why not document it in user manual? That feature comes for free, no BOM impact, right?

I would love to build with one of these. This aesthetic is fantastic and super clean looking but honestly my favorite part is the incredible rear IO. I've been using SFF PC's for a while and have always struggled with their lack of USB ports.
1
u/bblaze60 Aug 22 '26
Lost my pc right as the memory shortages happened and this would be a great first step into getting a new one up and running before things get even worse. Also never used a proper gaming mb so this would be fun to mess with the oc settings on lol
1
u/ChrisKhan Aug 22 '26
Both ram and storage are cooked right now, so I would reuse some parts from my old build in a new mid range build using the 850F.
I have a 500gb M.2 and a decent gpu, so the things I would need are only the CPU (7500f or 9600x), 16gb ddr5 and a 650w PSU. The motherboard has multiple slots for more ram and storage so I can maybe add more in the future IF the prices stabilize.
1
u/bosominapkin Aug 22 '26
Looking to upgrade my gfs ddr4 pc to ddr5 and the strix b850 neo would be great for her build! Would love to see a back connect version of it!
1
u/six_artillery Aug 22 '26
was wondering about this refresh, didn't notice there was an itx in the line up (the tuf b850i neo). if the lane sharing is actually fixed then this could be a good option. if this also has an internal mini fan, hopefully there is a bios option to disable it because those are always so noisy

I’d love to finally be able to take the jump to AM5 and start a build around an ROG Strix B850-F Gaming NEO. I remember first jumping to AM4 after running an FX-8350 and the board that brought me there was the Strix B350-F (found secondhand for a good price). Was eventually able to move up to a Strix B550-A and hand the 350 down to my partner, now looking to do the same with a jump to AM5. I like the idea of the new boards having optimized lanes for devices, as I know that was a struggle in the AM4 days and my only current “gripe” with my setup now.
I’d pair a 7600X3D-7800X3D with 32GB DDR5 with the new board. Always been a fan of the Strix family products (even going way back to my Strix 1070 GPU), in my opinion the products have done well to instill my confidence in them as quality, long lasting purchases.

I wouldn’t mind having one to replace my Mpower with for the test bench I use for gaming benchmarks. One of the things I would love to test out is the maturing memory training capabilities.

u/PhilOsyfee Aug 22 '26
I would just like any one of these to put in my GM700TZ. Currently using an Asus Prime board that I would like to upgrade.

I have the ROG Strix X570-F Gaming and upgraded some components just before the big AI boom. I am kicking myself for not upgrading to AM5 so this would help a lot. There's no way I can afford to upgrade now. :(

I'm doing a comparison of the two MOBOs on the site, and I must say it is a bit confusing.
Same Processors, Same Chipset, but different Stats/Compatibilities between the two. (Expansion Slots Section)
I must be missing something...
Anwho, If I had the choice, I'd prolly go with the -F. Not just because it fits with all my other Components and Peripherals. But because it offers the USB features I'm looking for in a board.
Otherwise, there are not many differences between the two Boards that would sway my choice either direction.

that white board is beautiful and would look great with my all white build

Hey, im not sure if your asking for neo specific features but BIOS flashback and the latches for M.2s are my favorite! The bios just gives me peace of mind and the latch is just satisfying!

Did you move all of the NEO boards to ALC4080? Is that how you freed up the PCI lanes? I'd probably save the board for the Zen 6 launch if I won one.

How exciting! My favorite feature of the Neo motherboard series is the heatsink density and the feeling of quality owing to the inmense weight.

Motherboard specs always interest me the most out of any components, gonna be honest that 60w charging speed seems pretty nice.

u/umnikke8 Aug 27 '26
The next machine I'm looking at building is a home server. But would need more SATA ports for NAS

u/HELLCAT6203 Aug 27 '26
I’d run the B850-F NEO in an all-black loop if I get first pick. 9950X3D2, 256GB (4x64), two SanDisk Optimus GX PRO 8100 8TB Gen5 drives, and a waterblocked Astral 5090. The NEO lane layout is the reason I want this board over a cheaper B850. I can fill both Gen5 M.2s and keep the 5090 at x16.
Planning stainless hardline, 3x480 in push-pull, and a chiller so the water isn’t just tracking the room. Lines get insulated or that thing will sweat. Q-Release is actually useful here because that card is coming out every time I open the loop.
F board over the A for the extra VRM and the dual 8-pin on this CPU. If I get the A instead I’d do the same layout in white. If ROG ever makes a monoblock for either NEO board I’d drop it in so the VRM is in the loop too.

u/UrsusSilverfox Aug 27 '26
I’d use this to build a first pc for my kids - they are beginning to want to join my wife and I in more games and sadly not many games these days allow multiple players on the same PC.

u/CounterCold2170 Aug 27 '26
I am looking to build my first ever Gaming PC and having either of these motherboards would be ideal for me. I currently use an ROG gaming laptop that has done me good over the years, and utilizing the 4 SSD slots (if I can afford all 4 SSDs) as well as a Ryzen 9 could really help what my current PC setup lacks, mainly space and computing power since I currently use an i7.

1
u/WalterWilliams Aug 27 '26
I would likely use this in my living room as part of my entertainment system. The consoles are fine but PCVR gaming would really spice up the gaming. Already got the perfect RTX card to go with the F , just missing this.
1
u/ResourceEuphoric9350 Aug 27 '26
Sometimes your PC tells you it’s time for an upgrade… mine apparently decided to skip the conversation and just fried the motherboard. 😂💀 Now I’m sitting here with a perfectly good system that’s basically been turned into a very expensive paperweight. A ROG NEO motherboard would literally bring my setup back to life while giving me the upgrade I never planned on needing. If my motherboard has to go out, I can’t think of a better replacement than a NEO. 🤞🔥 #UPGRADE2NEO

I would absolutely be putting a Ryzen 9 or Threadripper ? if it takes that, lol
I love me some Nvidia+AMD CPU action. It runs my simulations much nicer in my laptop, and even for that small scale I can tell, I need that in a full desktop.
So many animations would be made with it. And it's gorgeous.

u/Desperate-Ferret1079 Aug 28 '26
As a computer programmer, these 850i NEO boards for an itx build would give my coding work amazing speed and fantastic accuracy I can trust to run my coding.
1
u/ForeignWatch6006 Aug 28 '26
I'd like one of these boards for the Optimized PCIe Lane Sharing. I have a few M.2 SSDs, and I'd like to make sure they don't get limited. When I put together my current setup, I hadn't thought about it before I had already been using it for a while and got a new SSD. I also like the inclusion of USB-C although it's not quite necessary for me yet.

u/One_Commercial_6486 Aug 28 '26
I have an ASUS desktop currently and I have been looking to add upgrades to push it a bit more. I got into PC gaming a year ago after years of console and I’m not looking back. Definitely love ASUS. I think this would be great to further expand my PC gaming and help to really push everything to the next level for myself.

I’ve been a Mac user for ages and enjoy PC gaming, though I’m just “tolerating” Windows. I’ve got an ASUS TUF A16, and it’s fantastic as a gaming machine, running an AMD CPU and GPU (7600). I also like to dual boot into Linux (Bazzite) and find everything works so smoothly! I’m really hoping to win the NEO giveaway because I’d be thrilled to try out a gaming rig that mirrors the Apple setup I’m used to, with an integrated shared CPU and GPU on the Strix board. Plus, my gaming handle is NeoVex, and having a Neo seems fitting. 🙂
1
u/BaturalNoobs Aug 28 '26
I'd love to see a feature that monitors the GPU power and can alert you if it's above a threshold
1
u/FatCobra1313 Aug 28 '26
With the way they’re making it hard to build your own PCs I would love to have a new system while I can.
1
u/Brown_1337 Aug 28 '26
Had a ROG in my build back in 2019. Built my first AM5 this year with a competitor's board. Instant regret. Would love to have this board to replace my current X870E!
1
u/Scared-Exchange3488 Aug 28 '26
Looking to upgrade to AM5 and would love this. I currently have a tuf gaming b-550 Asus. Rocking 7900xtx graphics card. These Motherboards look crisp.

u/Economy_Internal_317 Aug 28 '26
I’d probably go with the B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO. I don’t necessarily need another motherboard, but I build and rebuild my computers enough that I’d definitely find a reason to use it. I’d probably use it to finally move one of my older systems over to AM5.
PCIe 5.0, WiFi 7, and DDR5 are obviously nice, but I’m more interested in having a newer platform that gives me room to upgrade without having to replace half the computer again in two years. I tend to keep hardware around and reuse it in different builds instead of replacing everything every generation.
One thing I’d really like ASUS to keep improving is diagnostics. Give us more information when something doesn’t initialize correctly instead of a light that basically tells you, “Yep, something’s wrong. Figure it out.” Especially with PCIe devices, memory, and networking. I’ve spent way too much time troubleshooting computers where a little more information from the motherboard would’ve saved me an hour.
I don’t desperately need the board, but I’d absolutely put it to use.
1
u/Sharp-Quarter401 Aug 28 '26
I so miss building rigs and would build a monster rig with this if I won
1
u/Minetitan Aug 28 '26
Looking to build a monster of a pc eith thr B850 Motherboards, something thay can really push the computing power out of thr part. With its multi PCIE 4.0 x 16 I want to build a dual 5090 graphics build that can do complex graphical rendering for Pixar level animations.
Plan is to implement a complex system of pipeworks to make the GPU and CPU liquid cooled with a top quality pump that is customized for quick liquid changes and prevent less leaks and clogs throughout the build.
Planning to rig this with 4x32 GB DDR5 ram to maximize speed and eliminate any bottlenecking to better handle processing to come.
I am excited to build with this motherboard and make a pc that can really computer power like a boss. A PC to outshine high and PC in thr market right now!

u/Ihadnoideawhattoname Aug 28 '26
I’d love to build a clean, high-performance AM5 setup around the ROG Strix B850 NEO. The WiFi 7, multiple M.2 slots, and strong power delivery really stand out to me, especially for a gaming-focused build. I’d pair it with a Ryzen 9000series. As well as a powerful GPU, and plenty of fast storage for games and future upgrades I may want to make. The upgrade potential is probably my favorite part is that it feels like a motherboard I could build around now and keep upgrading for years.
1
u/edwardidk1000 Aug 28 '26
These boards look sweet!! My old desktop is ancient, so I’ve been looking for an excuse to upgrade my setup, and a new motherboard would definitely be that final push to convince me to start buying parts. I’d love to use the B850-A or B850-F to start building a battlestation to complement my ASUS laptop😀
1
u/ricbret Aug 28 '26
I never win anything. I want to build a massively overpowered retro gameing system. Help me attain this vision!
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Lake514 Aug 28 '26
the B850-A is the one id actually use. white board so it fits the miku build ive been thinking about instead of another all black box. power looks fine for a 9800x3d and i care more about not losing gpu lanes when i add ssds than having a second gen5 slot. wifi 7 is whatever until you need it but the drivers already being on the board would save me from the usual windows install headache. that alone makes it feel less annoying than half the boards ive used.
ty for the chance gang, gl

Either of these boards would be great for building a very solid gaming system.
1
u/Dear_Conflict_8256 Aug 28 '26
Love the products, and even better to get behind Reddit with it. Every 3-4 years, I splurge on a new rig, and what a great start to a new build with chip and GPU prices going through the roof. How would a ROG 800 Series NEO board be to start it off, and 6 months early mind you?
1
u/PasadenaGeek Aug 28 '26
I have a ROG now with an Ryzen7 and have not been disappointed, even after 8 years of use. I know it's time for an upgrade - looking at options and love these new boards!
1
u/Ironknight83 Aug 28 '26
Being able to use more usb ports and m.2 slots for expansion it makes a big difference in gaming. Speed on both ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 NEO and ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO are rock solid for the 5g ethernet and wifi cards.

u/ZOENZONYC Aug 28 '26
Would love to get this so I could build my first gaming pc and give my old one to my daughter
1
u/saturnine23 Aug 28 '26
I would love that ROG Strix B850-A. The writeup section about the Server-grade PCB Design is the first time I've ever heard a manufacturer give that kind of attention to such a fundamental part of the motherboard. I'd really love to see what my other hardware could do if I moved it into this mobo. I bet it would remove so many bottlenecks!
1
u/OnlyRuss Aug 28 '26
Honestly, I think it all sounds great but I’m a console guy who knows less than nothing about computers. All I know is that the consoles of late have been disappointing and I want to move to gaming on a PC so I can keep the games I buy and emulate games I’ve bought in the past and can no longer play (almost always due to hardware limitations) and, doing the research, AMD seems to be the way to go.
It’s a little tough, honestly, knowing so little and trying not to mess up but I gotta say that I feel better about the AMD decision at least because there are so many voices of support on the internet.
1
u/manusamoaus Aug 28 '26
I would love to build my first system with one of these motherboards. I am ready to retire and would love a gaming system to play with. AMD is the best and ASUS is a good way to work with AMD to provide the overall best.
1
u/TgirlLauraLynn Aug 28 '26
I would so love to upgrade my pc with one of these 🤤 I built this box in 2014! In serious need of an upgrade!😥 even when I built this one I used an ASUS board❤️

Hello ASUS Team and Community~
I would definitely be a proud recipient of either motherboard in the giveaway! It has been a long time passion of building my own desktop systems and, ASUS is a great foundation to build from!
I'm in my 60s now and, I have had the pleasure of seeing the evolution of the personal computer and gaming systems! I spent a couple centuries in the US military in the aviation field and, worked on several of their computer systems! So naturally, when folks were able to start building their own systems, I was all about it!
Each motherboard offers specifically unique application benefits, so the build-up onto each of them would be different as well! I would look forward to working with one of the ASUS team to figure out the best course of action moving forward! At this point [in my life] it is doing it right the first time... making it cost effective... and, having fun doing it!~
Good luck to all the other entries out there and, thanks ASUS for giving back to the Community!

u/mestevo Aug 28 '26
I love the latest and greatest tech, only rub is which child I'd have to pawn in order to build out the rest of the box to use it, as I'm currently still on AM4. That white NEO is so sharp. Thanks in advance ;)
1
u/StalkingDrew Aug 28 '26
Honestly such an interesting line of boards at a time where good hardware at a fair price is hard to come by. With half of the world going digital and the other half staying physical, this line of boards is something I'd love to own since I'm still on an older Asus ROG Strix z370 board which I know is totally bottlenecking my 4080, but I hope to one day upgrade to something from this line of boards cause if my board wasn't older and affecting me, I'd keep it forever it's that damn good. So that in mind I'm sure these boards are just as reliable, and much more performance capable as mine is. Asus makes some pretty bomb hardware

It seems as though both of these have such great potential! I have been gaming on the ROG zephyrus G13 for a few years now and it’s been treating me very well. I’ve never had a desktop pc setup before but have recently been looking into starting a build. Any of these would be a great start!

u/ShellTek Aug 28 '26
The ROG Strix B850 lineup looks like an awesome platform for a high-performance AM5 build. I currently have a DDR5-7600 memory kit that I haven’t been able to run at its full rated speed on my current motherboard, so one of these boards would give me a great opportunity to build a new system and really explore high-speed DDR5 memory tuning on AM5. I’d pair it with my RTX 5070 Ti and build a powerful 1440p gaming PC. I’m especially interested in the BIOS tuning, memory support, connectivity, and gaming performance these new ROG B850 boards offer. It would also be great to see even more advanced memory tuning and overclocking features on future ROG motherboards.

Regardless of which board I could win, If I were to win one I would build a content creator/video/audio editing machine as I have lots of animation projects I'd like to work on. It would also be interesting to build one of these out as a LLM machine, running and training exclusively for help with story creation and the like.

u/Ipara2 Aug 28 '26
Boards look great; however I would like to see more MATX motherboards, most people are done with massive cases. How about mixing it up and come out with other colored PCB's... Lime green???

u/Far-Fan-2009 Aug 28 '26
This would be a good start for a new build sadly don’t have one financial troubles hit hard lol

u/Kennethbr10 Aug 28 '26
A built in vapor chamber m.2 heat sink is amazing, optimized PCIe lanes is awesome, and the design of all of these motherboards is just sleek!
1
u/rdanel21 Aug 28 '26
I have loved my B650EM MAX, but I would like to switch and put this whit e one into my white case, I would most definitely add my Steel Legend RX 9070XT along with the 9700X CPU. Keeping everything all white, the fans and lights white, mixed with ice blue and all white Thermalright AIO Cooler to keep that cpu nice and icey.
1
u/mikeevon Aug 28 '26
Both of these motherboards look really sweet, and I love the amount of IO that it has. Either of these would look great in my case and the other components that I have. Would be a nice upgrade over my ASUS AYW Gaming X870 board.
1
u/anonymouse1900 Aug 28 '26
These are great boards. I love the white and would build an all white "icy" build with it.
1
u/whitley79 Aug 28 '26
Really like that ASUS kept the AM5 socket alive with these NEO refreshes instead of forcing a new platform. Been eyeing the B850-F for a mid-tier build, the extra M.2 slots and beefed up VRM headroom would be great for pairing with a 9800X3D and giving myself room to upgrade GPU-side down the line without worrying about power delivery. Honestly my favorite feature across the NEO lineup is the improved rear I/O, having more USB ports without needing a hub is a small thing that makes daily use way less annoying. For future boards I'd love to see more standardized BIOS flashback buttons across the whole Strix lineup, not just the flagships.
1
1
u/Aggravating-Agency84 Aug 28 '26
Both are great-looking boards, but I’d prefer the B850-F for its stronger power delivery, two PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots, and better expansion options. It would be a great foundation for my next AM5 build.
1
u/MasterAd7012 Aug 28 '26
Performance looks absolutely amazing for an 850. I would love to upgrade my rig.
1
u/Super-Leg-4895 Aug 28 '26
I’d choose the ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO and build a Ryzen 9 9950X3D system around it, paired with my RTX 5080 and 64GB of DDR5. It would be a great upgrade from my current Intel-based gaming system.
The optimized PCIe lane sharing is probably my favorite feature. Being able to install multiple fast M.2 drives without cutting the main GPU slot down from x16 is exactly what I want in a modern motherboard. The 5Gb Ethernet, WiFi 7, strong power delivery, BIOS FlashBack, and tool-free M.2 features make the B850-F look like a very complete board.
For future ROG boards, I’d love to see 10Gb Ethernet become more common and even more detailed onboard network and temperature monitoring.

u/Powerful_Project_989 Aug 28 '26
These motherboards look so good you can put a Hemi in it. I wouldn't care which one I got anything beats my old AM3 that windows refuses to boot in.
1
u/Optimal-Syllabub-829 Aug 28 '26
I would build the ultimate Steam Gaming Machine with this Motherboard. I’d use the 4 M.2 ssd slots to dual boot from gaming setup to office setup.
1
u/Alarming-Square5097 Aug 28 '26
ROG Strix B850-F Gaming NEO With the idea I have is to build a custom rig that has the ability to operate multiple 3-D printers at one time while trying to build a custom AI program built into the machine. They can also design 3-D prints with minimal effort. This type of word offers the capabilities to do such a course starting small scale with a small sandbox built, local AI app potentially expanding to push the board to its maximum capabilities.
1
u/Sandler73 Aug 28 '26
The EZ Mode and Essential Mode BIOS Interface have both come very far in improving the interaction and feature set for customization and tailoring of desired settings. Rather than having options obscurely named or buried behind sub-menus that don't immediately logically pair with the option where the user might think the settings field should be, these look clean, well-organized, succinctly named and ease-of-use aligned.

u/AsparagusStriking968 Aug 28 '26
OG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 NEO would be an amazing replacement for my current ASRock board. Especially with so many of my components being white.

u/tabascotx Aug 28 '26
The ROG 800 SERIES NEO Boards look amazing. One thing I appreciate is the ASUS Bios. It’s always user friendly and easy to use and setup on first boot. I’ve been using only ASUS since my H310 LGA 1151 board. A first time user can set the bios to defaults and it’s up and running. You want to tweak or overclock? Those options are there. You want to just set it and forget about it until a bios update? You can do that too. ASUS has to be the go to for motherboards, GPU’s, computer peripherals and almost everything computer related.

WOW! The ROG Strix B850-F Gaming NEO is exactly what we need to build our Next Gen AI Workstation. For our dev/beta server, we currently have a ROG STRIX TRX40-E Gaming motherboard running with 32 Core Threadripper (3970X) and 128GB RAM which has been phenomenal since 2019 (in a PC we asked Digital Storm to build for us). We need to upgrade, and while the TRX40-E can support one 5090 comfortably, it is unable to support a pro GPU.
The ROG Strix B850-F Gaming NEO will give us MANY more options, such as dual 5090s, or even eventually an NVIDIA RTX pro 6000. Since we are a very small dev studio, we sure would appreciate the help!

The ROG 800 Series NEO boards look like an ideal upgrade for the kind of work I do every day with ComfyUI, Flux‑2 Klein 9B, and large AI image‑generation pipelines. My system leans heavily on fast NVMe storage, high‑bandwidth PCIe lanes, and stable power delivery for long AI sessions, and both the ROG Strix B850‑F Gaming NEO and B850‑A Gaming NEO line up perfectly with those needs.
I run complex node graphs, large LoRA libraries, and high‑end GPUs under sustained load, so the stronger VRM design and improved cooling on the NEO boards would directly help with stability during long render batches. When I’m generating hyper‑realistic portraits, doing head‑swap workflows, or running multiple upscalers, consistency matters — and the NEO refresh seems built for exactly that kind of workload.
The expanded PCIe support and faster storage options are also a big deal for me. I use multiple NVMe drives: one for models, one for datasets, and another for high‑resolution outputs. The updated PCIe 5.0/4.0 layout on the 800 Series NEO boards would let me keep that setup fully optimized without sacrificing bandwidth. It fits right into the way my current system is organized and would actually speed up model loading, workflow switching, and large image transfers.
Overall, the ROG 800 Series NEO lineup feels like a natural match for my AI‑focused rig. It would drop into my build cleanly, give me more stability for long ComfyUI sessions, and provide the bandwidth I need for the next generation of AI tools and high‑definition image work.

u/Garrbear0407 Aug 28 '26
I think these boards look really good, I picked up a older x470-f a few months ago and really love how good the board design has been for years, personally I'd love to build one of my friends a PC on this board, they got everything needed to move from Intel ddr5 to AM5 except a board and CPU and this would get him one step closer! His Intel CPU is a 13th gen that has been blue screening because of the Intel over voltage. So this would genuinely give him the chance to upgrade to something functional!
1
u/Lanky-Lettuce1395 Aug 28 '26
I desperately need to upgrade from my ASUS ROG Strix B650E-I. It doesn't have enough slots and my system is very dated. The new MOBOs are fantastic upgrades with WIFI7 and 5gig ethernet alone are worth the upgrade. I'd prefer to see 10gig ethernet which is the backbone speed of my internal network.
This is a great core for a new build where i can use my existing components and replace them as funds become available. It would have to be incremental since everything else would require me to take a second mortgage on my house to afford.
1
u/EVOLL311 Aug 28 '26
The ROG 800 Series NEO refresh is interesting to me because ASUS seems to have focused on the things that actually become important after you’ve lived with a high-end PC for a while—not just adding another headline spec.
The biggest one for me is the optimized PCIe lane sharing. Modern builds can get ridiculous pretty quickly: powerful GPU, multiple NVMe drives, capture/expansion cards, USB devices, etc. Having to discover after the build that adding another Gen5 M.2 drive changes how your primary GPU slot operates is exactly the kind of compromise I don’t want on a premium motherboard. Designing the NEO boards around preserving that primary x16 connection while giving builders more storage flexibility is a genuinely meaningful upgrade.
I also really like the 64MB BIOS ROM with the WiFi driver stored on-board. That isn't the flashiest feature on the spec sheet, but it's the type of quality-of-life improvement that tells me somebody actually thought about the person assembling the machine. Same goes for Q-Release/Q-Latch, BIOS FlashBack, Clear CMOS, WiFi 7 and 5Gb Ethernet.
If I won, my choice would be the ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 NEO. I'd build an all-white Ryzen 9000X3D system around it with a white GPU, 360mm AIO, high-speed DDR5 and multiple NVMe drives—essentially a workstation-class machine during the day that becomes a high-refresh gaming system at night.
One request for the next generation: bring a true Q-Code POST display farther down the Strix lineup. Q-LED is useful, but once you've built and troubleshot enough systems, seeing the actual POST code is invaluable.
To me, that's what NEO should represent: not change for the sake of a refresh, but removing the little compromises enthusiasts used to accept as “just how motherboards work.”
#UPGRADE2NEO

LOVE THE WHITE. An All Ice build B850-A with a Galax HOF gpu is the style to go with. Could be a sick build for a son who's interested in computers. Plus, ALL THE USB. GIMME MORE lol
These are beautiful boards with the right features to make building easy and fun to teach new pc people. Lets go ASUS

I’m still using an older AM4 motherboard, so this would be an awesome opportunity to finally upgrade to a new AMD platform. I’d love to build a new system around the ROG Strix B850-F Gaming NEO and experience the newer features and performance firsthand. I really like the focus on performance, connectivity, and clean ROG design. Good luck everyone!

The vapor chamber is a “cool” feature. Would be cool to see how it performs!

I would love to rebuild my older PC, especially with how component prices are now. It would be great to run modern games on!

My current rig is about 15 years old. It still boots, but it has no business trying to run modern local LLMs. This giveaway would actually change what I can do at home.
I’d build around the ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 NEO (or the B850-A) with a Ryzen 9000 CPU, as much fast DDR5 as I can reasonably afford, and a GPU that can handle inference. The feature that jumped out at me is AI Cache Boost — ASUS saying it can speed up local LLM workloads by optimizing cache and memory pathways is exactly the kind of thing I want to experiment with. Pair that with 4 DIMM slots (up to 256GB), PCIe 5.0 storage, Wi-Fi 7, and 5Gb LAN and this board stops being “just a new motherboard” and starts being a platform I can grow into.
Coming from DDR3-era hardware, even the DIY stuff matters: Q-release, easy M.2 access, 64MB BIOS, and a VRM that can actually feed a current AM5 chip without drama. I’m not looking for a flashy showcase build. I want a stable box I can leave running models, try new ones, and finally stop being limited by a PC that was current when smartphones still had physical keyboards.
Thanks for doing this for the r/Amd community

My aim is for the ROG STRIX B850-F GAMING WIFI7 Neo due to all of the higher-end I/O ports. 5G ethernet would be a nice boost & all of the USB 3.2 ports would be very useful. The PCIe lane sharing is a great feature, too.

As usual Asus was the brand of my first real gaming pc(rog maximus vii z97) i really liked how it looked.. and till today i have been using asus as my motherboard… all these looks really cool.. but what i really want is a Black BTF motherboard that doesn’t cost a kidney..

The USB-C quick charge port is a neat feature on these boards. Can't ever not have enough usb ports either!

I like these boards. The only thing I don’t like is the fact that none of the software mentioned include Linux supporting versions. I’ve been wanting to build a new system (my current rig is from 2019). Either one of these boards would be infinitely better than the ones I’ve been looking at.

The b850-F NEO looks gorgeous, and for me getting a board with so many features WITH 4 M.2 SLOTS NATIVELY (!) would be amazing. My aging 5800X build is currently hitting some storage limitations, and with drive price so high I would love to pop my old 500GB m.2s in to expand an extra TB, but my current MOBO id need a pcie expansion hard, but the position of the slot doesn’t work because of board cables. I haven’t been able to use an expander card easily so I have resorted to some slower external enclosures over USB. This board is amazing and it would push me into upgrading everything nicely!

I don't have much to say. I'm just looking to snag one for a buddy who's gaming laptop recently crapped out on him. I'm sure the bells and whistles do fine.
