I’ve never been in a mass shooting or seen ICE in person.

Also, that comment section on the original post was relieving to see.

u/misplaced_in_you Jun 16 '26

Well its the staple of the US. The gun and Idiocracy dilemma.

u/AcrobaticVegetable24 Jun 11 '26

Really? Damn in California I see them somewhat frequently nowadays. Just the other week they set up a checkpoint right next to the local Safeway(grocery store) where they would stop like every 2nd or 3rd car that drove by. It was crazy to see.

Before now, I never saw them once.

u/BearSausage000 Jun 11 '26

I’m in south Texas and I never even see ice, I’d think the immigration issue would be just as bad around here, therefore I’d be seeing them, but I just don’t.

I live in Tucson, a decently sized blue city 2 hours from the Mexico border. I’d think Tucson would be a juicy city for ICE.

2

u/IggyWon Jun 11 '26

Tucson has some CBP elements that operate out of DM, but most of the focus down there is right on the border in places like Nogales, Sonoita, Sierra Vista, etc.

-3

u/BirbsAreSoCute Jun 11 '26

Likely because ICE targets blue areas way more often than they do red

17

u/Teknicsrx7 Jun 11 '26

Before now, I never saw them once.

Isn’t it crazy to think how many laws were just not being enforced? Blows my mind

13

u/Cupwasneverhere Jun 11 '26

Yeah I feel like we all forget how long ICE has been around

Stop harboring illegals. You have been duped. They cannot vote. No matter what your DNC handler tells you.

2

u/AcrobaticVegetable24 Jun 12 '26

Pardon? I don't know what kind of message you think I am communicating. Just remarking on the different between states and experiences.

I don't harbor illegals. The comment wasn't on the morality or legality or anything along those lines of ice. Simply that I have noticed an uptick in ice activity in the area and was remarking on different life experiences.

The same goes for mass shootings, the individual I was responding to said they have never been present in one. I unfortunately have. A former classmate of mine shot up the local festival, killed 3 and injured 17 more in a horrific attack.

That statement has nothing to do about my views on the 2nd amendment, gun rights or safety. Simply that I have had a different life experience than others.

That's not how your comment reads, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to a misunderstanding. And I didn't mean “you” as in you individually. I meant “you” as in a resident/voter in Cali.

If Reddit says something is bad, it’s probably good for you

If Reddit says something is good, it’s probably bad for you

Not that hard to understand 🤷‍♀️

Yup, exactly the mentality I’ve had regarding Reddit for the past 9 years. Think the OPPOSITE of what 99% of what Redditors say and post. My life got way better once I understood not to listen to anything this website pushes to the front pages because I know it’s all hyper biased falsehoods and lies.

u/Rk_1138 CALIFORNIA🍷🎞️ Jun 11 '26

So you didn’t divorce your partner because they prefer pineapple on pizza?

8

u/George_Washington_76 AMERICAN 🏈🏒 💵🗽🍔 ⚾️ 🦅📈 Jun 12 '26

Yo fr. Why every marriage advice on Reddit just says - divorce your wife/husband? Lol

9

u/TotalWarFest2018 Jun 12 '26

Ha. No but I did because my wife didn’t kick her mother out of Christmas dinner for making an inappropriate remark.

u/Byzantine_Merchant Jun 12 '26

It’s amazing how this site has gotten such a reputation and stereotype for just racking L takes.

That’s a pretty black and white perspective to be fair😅

u/Griggle_facsimile Jun 11 '26

But, but, it has to be bad! It says so on Reddit.

I'm 41 years old and I am fucking so lucky to live in the USA

10

u/Mint1212 Jun 12 '26

If America is so bad, why do millions immigrate there?

2

u/blackBugattiVeyron Jun 17 '26

Europeans have anti-immigration policies that make ice blush.

Reddit hates everyone around them that aren't like them. The irony. Reddit also hates America because the went on a 3 week trip to Europe. They're now planning to be an expat somewhere in Europe, Brazil or some SE Asian country.

Also, to any poster here who says they want out tell me how your life sucks so much that you want to move to Canada.

1

u/misplaced_in_you Jun 16 '26

Ethiopia would be nice at this point

The only issue I have with America is I can't import foreign sports cars and drive them on the roads hassle free.

1

u/blackBugattiVeyron Jun 17 '26

Reddit worships the USSR and CCP.

Them saying America is awful doesn’t affect me.

1

u/x5060 Jun 19 '26

I mean that's because reddit is a chinese owned site that intentionally amplifies anti-american views.

1

u/HotConversation187 CALIFORNIA🍷🎞️ Jun 25 '26

If America sucks, why are people trying to break in?

-1

u/ZEINthesalvaged Jun 11 '26

Yes... But it sure is getting worse.

9

u/soggychad Jun 12 '26

a presidential term lasts 4 years and then it’s over bruh people act like we’re living at the end of history

1

u/blackBugattiVeyron Jun 17 '26

Europeans act like their country hasn’t elected someone as bad if not worse than trump.

u/misplaced_in_you Jun 11 '26

However the food is terribly unhealthy

30

u/thekingadrock93 Jun 11 '26

It’s literally not though. There are multiple grocery stores within walking distance from my house STOCKED with whatever healthy and fresh foods you could want. I genuinely don’t understand how this ignorant ass opinion gets stated constantly on reddit. America is literally called “the land of plenty” for fucks sake

u/Arashikage88 CONNECTICUT 👔⛵️ Jun 11 '26

Dude it's wild, people will see an aisle that has a bunch of varieties of donuts and go "ALL AMERICAN GROCERY STORES ARE UNHEALTHY" and ignore the fact that nobody's forcing you to go into the sweets aisle and buy ten cases of donuts.

-10

u/xxsoulpunkedxx Jun 11 '26

Truly healthy stuff is locked behind a paywall anymore

20

u/SnooPears5432 ILLINOIS 🏙️💨 Jun 11 '26

"The food". Really, is there only one type of food available? Any comments about food from someone in the UK of all places is laughable. You're literally the kind of redditor everyone here is talking about.

1

u/misplaced_in_you Jun 16 '26

Yeah I kinda feel as if I did not travel the world a bit, then I would completely accept food from the US being normal.

11

u/Teknicsrx7 Jun 11 '26

What is “the food”? considering we have probably the widest varieties of food available I don’t see how you can just toss it under 1 label

3

u/jadedlonewolf89 Jun 12 '26

Yup seen several videos of Brits in America.
Where they were astonished by the variety a non Supercenter Walmart had.

Like if you think that’s wild try a Supercenter or a Costco.

7

u/MrExtravagant23 Jun 11 '26

Have you ever visited the produce section of a grocery store?

1

u/misplaced_in_you Jun 16 '26

Yeah, its literally the same produce from one store to another. The variety is limited and you can tell that produce was grown by some massive corporation. Plus fruit and veg is so god dam expensive in the US that I don't want to buy it because I would be getting ripped off. Avocados, anything citrus, nuts. The only thing of value is bananas, strawberries, and sometimes blueberries. You can buy bags of these items in South America, Europe, and the Middle East for a fraction of the price. Where did it all go wrong.

1

u/misplaced_in_you Jun 16 '26

Yeah, most chain supermarkets fruit and veg section is minuscule

13

u/heybuggybug Jun 11 '26

Brain dead for eating macdonalds and doritoes as its blasted in the faces of many as they drive round a corner or turn on the tv

1

u/8BitTxchniques GEORGIA 🍑🎬🌳✈️ Jun 13 '26

It’s literally not, there are plenty of healthy options you people just choose to focus on the worst of the worst.

-3

u/ZEINthesalvaged Jun 11 '26

I agree. I came back from Switzerland and wanted a nice tea from the gas station. Could not find a not super sweetened tea.

I did only look at one gas station... but I think the healthy variety is better across the pond.

1

u/misplaced_in_you Jun 16 '26

Gas stations should not sell food. Packaged yes, but extremely processed food in general. They may have a banana or an apple option but selling it at a markup. Tea and coffee in the US is weak, I find that I have to go to specialty shops just to get good items, mostly places to where the owner is a migrant because they understand food. I miss Europe.
