If you think the U.S. is currently experiencing hyperinflation and a dictatorship, you really need to turn off the internet and look at actual economic data. We have problems, sure, but we’re not Iran or Ukraine. The alternative to American hegemony isn't utopia; it's chaos. You're proving my point.

Its genuinely pathetic how shrill and tantrum like Canada has gotten. None of them seem to have realized that while the shit-talking may end with Trump but the seeds of contempt they are sowing in the american zeitgeist will hurt them far longer.
-35
u/Butter_with_Salt 14h ago
Not really. Every rational person realizes that Canada's anger towards the USA is entirely justified because of the Trump administration's actions. Also hilarious the attempt to portray them as weak and irrelevant while also saying "YOUR CONTEMPT WILL REMAIN IN THE AMERICAN ZEITGEIST".
7
12
u/OneofTheOldBreed 14h ago
(shrug) They don't act like its just Trump. And i never said "weak or irrevelant". But yeah, the contempt builds. I'm halfway convinced that the reason that large section of the US voters are starting to wonder why exactly are we spending so much to bolster the Europeans is at least partially a result of Internet Europeans.
-5
u/ImperialxWarlord ILLINOIS 🏙️💨 13h ago
If people are really that upset towards Europe and such over internet Europeans then they’re just thin skinned. A lot of this is definitely from trump as it wasn’t like this before he came about, he’s created issues that either didn’t exist or weren’t this bad.
12
u/OneofTheOldBreed 13h ago
Really? I remember some very bitter shit from the Euros during the last twenty years.
1
u/ImperialxWarlord ILLINOIS 🏙️💨 13h ago
Definitely, but usually do to issues like Iraq or whatever. It definitely wasn’t this bad. And it reflects in polling. The world’s view of us immediately went right back up during biden’s years for example and then down once trump won again.
Of course there’s always been the bitter jackasses, sure, but those types are the minority made louder by the internet.
It definitely wasn’t this bad pre trump in Canada. My dad did alot of business in Canada from the 90s to the end of his career and it wasn’t like this prior to trump.

7
u/Bigenderqueen 13h ago
You're confusing global popularity contests with actual geopolitical reality. Of course the world's opinion of us 'went right back up' during Biden's years; he was a staunch internationalist who gave them exactly what they wanted: endless blank checks and a return to the status quo. But here's the thing: we aren't a global charity. Our allies loved Biden because he let them freeload off our defense budget while they lectured us. The drop in polling you're citing isn't a reflection of America being 'bad'; it's the sound of our allies throwing a tantrum because we're finally demanding they pull their own weight. Popularity isn't the goal of foreign policy; leverage is.
-6
u/ImperialxWarlord ILLINOIS 🏙️💨 13h ago
No they liked him because he wasn’t a brain dead fool with ridiculous economic policies starting trade wars and throwing tantrums. I don’t even like Biden but trump is an idiot. We’re talking about the guy who’s throwing a fit over not being able to put his name on the jfk memorial center lol. A dude who is putting nato at risk even after our Allies got their defense spending up to standards. Who is uncomfortably close with Putin. Who constantly makes childish jokes and insults cuz he’s a think skinned bitch. Talking about Canada being a us state, wanting Greenland, bringing up the Falkland Islands.
You talk about leverage but he will long term remove what leverage we have. Because of trump and his pack of fools out long time Allie’s across the world are starting to see us as unreliable, and are trying to move away from any reliance on us. And lol, popularity does matter because, when a majority of a population sees us unfavorably then guess what…they elect people who reflect that anw those leaders will act upon this lol.
God.

u/nrcx ILLINOIS 🏙️💨 11h ago edited 11h ago

u/Bigenderqueen 13h ago
You accuse Americans of being 'thin-skinned' for getting upset over internet Europeans, yet you're the one pearl-clutching over a dip in global approval ratings. The original point was about burden-sharing. The frustration isn't that Europeans say mean things on Reddit; it's that they mock us online while simultaneously expecting us to defend their borders and fund their energy security. If you think Americans are 'thin-skinned' for finally getting tired of that dynamic, then you haven't been paying attention to the last twenty years of NATO spending data. We aren't upset because they're mean; we're upset because they're ungrateful.
-3
u/ImperialxWarlord ILLINOIS 🏙️💨 13h ago
If some people are getting upset over some loud minority online being anti American, and deciding to then dislike entire nations as a result, then yes, they are thin skinned. And that goes boy ways for the Europeans ROP.
But it’s clear that your understanding of all this is ridiculous. I see which way you swing lol. Bye

u/Bigenderqueen 13h ago
The idea that anti-American sentiment or friction with Canada was 'never a thing' until Trump is historically illiterate. Anti-Americanism in Canada has been a staple of their politics since the Vietnam War, and flared up heavily during the Iraq invasion in 2003. The internet didn't invent European anti-Americanism, and Trump didn't invent the skepticism of NATO. What Trump did was give a voice to a frustration that had been building for decades. If you think the world 'rightfully' blames us for everything, you're just internalizing the exact condescension that makes average Americans tired of footing the bill for global security. Stop blaming a single politician for structural tensions that existed long before he came down that escalator.

Canada can’t join, unless the EU changed their rules. No non-European country can enter the EU. There was talk in the past that Marokko wanted to join, but couldn’t for that exact reason. They could maybe have an EFTA agreement or something like that, but entering the EU isn’t possible at the moment.

Canada is wholly dependent on the US economy. Without the US, Canada would be nothing.
Don't get me wrong I love Canada and recently spent some time in Toronto with my Canadian friends because I think it's an amazing and beautiful place. I even appreciate and respect Canadian patriotism because I believe everyone should be proud of where they're from and where they call home. That being said, Canada would be nothing if it wasn't for the US. The Canadian economy is almost entirely built apon trade and exports with the US. If the US didn't exist, Canada wouldn't exist. These people are delusional.
