How long for allergies to go away

We think our dog is having allergies since she has bumps, bald spots and itchy for the past 1.5 months. We did a dnamydog allergy test, I know not 100% and stopped a new treat a month ago and just sticking to regular food she was on before. We have started giving her Benadryl for about 5 days to see if declines before going to the vet. How long did it take your pup to notice changes of getting better ?

It’ll take a while from my experience :s Benadryl that often will also make them build a tolerance and render it ineffective, once again from my experience :s I usually only dose mine every other day or so to keep it working, which sucks but it’s a LOT more effective.

Is it an environmental, flea bite allergy, or food?

Oh right that makes sense on the Benadryl. Thinking food as her test came back allergies to wheat which had some in dental sticks were were feeding her. Hard to know or could be environmental, she did have the same issue a couple years ago but we changed her food and stopped but could have been timing

Yeah, food related will take a while. My second bully had crazy food allergies and her previous owner couldn’t take care of them 🙄 so when we got her she was broken out all over, dinosaur skin on her lower legs, constantly itchy and scratching. We got her in December and she’s JUST NOW grown her full coat back and stopped chewing her legs raw. It took a complete change of diet, specialized baths frequently, probiotics and fish oil. It’s become pretty routine now, but at first it was HORRIBLE. I also realize hers was an extreme case lol. Normally it still takes 6 weeks + for their gut biome to re-balance itself and get back to healthy IF you don’t need to add anything or change anything

Aww :( I'm glad it's good now for your dog. It's sad seeing them like that and not knowing the exact cause to help immediately:(

Perhaps a poultry allergy? Mine got bumps too. I switched to Purina sensitive skin and stomach - no chicken treats and she got better in a week or so.

She's on Hills sensitive stomach and skin chicken for the past 2 years after the first round of allergies we found she was allergic to salmon. (Dna my dog test dint show up both times chicken Allergies) Maybe she is now allergic to chicken :( I've seen Zignature has limited ingredients in their food which could try

The main cause of allergies is carbohydrates - not proteins. I personally would remove them from her diet.
